  1. I just stopped it. I’m clearly allergic to Minoxidil, I had edema, itching and redness that continued for days after I stopped it. Unfortunately, it’s not for me. I just switched to a mixture of different oils every couple of days, like rosemary, pumpkin seeds, among others. It sucks having oily drippy head and having to shower again after applying but it’s what I have to deal with.
  2. Hello, I am almost three weeks after my hair transplant, I decided to give Rogaine foam a try, because other liquid form have caused an allergic reaction including mild facial swelling around two years ago. I started noticing what seems like contact dermatitis (redness, irritation, cobblestone appearance, itchiness). Should I continue with it or should I stop? If I continue will it affect the result of my hair transplant negatively? Photos attached. Thanks

  4. Donor harvesting seems well distributed, however I can see it’s very light but for me that beats having my whole head shaved.
  5. I was in the same position a few weeks ago. I am currently in Istanbul for a work thing for some time, so I went to see them both. Dr. Yaman took his time with assessing my hair thickness with an electronic caliper, used a microscopic camera, measured the areas and did calculations and then made a plan. Explained in some details and answered my questions. He offered 5300 grafts covering the whole top with recreating my hairline with a natural one very slightly lower than my current, after measuring facial thirds. I went to see Dr. Gur the same day, his coordinator gave me a time and I was there, but when I arrived I waited a long time until Dr. Gur saw me because he was busy with surgery and gave me an extremely brief assessment. That is bad coordination. He said crown is not really important and he will not do anything for it, he will just recreate the hairline and use 3000 for the top +10% possibly. I don’t mind all of this and the hairline is my main concern anyway. After leaving the doctor’s office, I told the coordinator I thought I needed more grafts than this, he said “you know the employees here can only work for this many hours, they need to go home”. This what made me decide not to go with him, because he decided to do only 3000 and not cover the crown not because that is what’s best for my case, it’s because it’s what’s best for them. I decided to go with Dr. Yaman, one week post-op today. 4960 grafts covering the whole top with density in the front middle. I am not an expert, but I like what was done and the work seems clean. I wish Dr. Yaman was involved in the surgery more but then he wouldn’t be charging this competitive rate. Today is day 7, no problems. I removed the scabs today after checking with clinic coordinator. So far, I am very satisfied. Not making any recommendations or discouragements, just sharing my experience. I will post soon about it. Wish you the best.
  6. Looking good! My operation with Dr. Yaman is next week. Please update us when you can.
  7. I need to do that for my weight as well. I always did it but stopped a few months back. Will consider it. Thanks. Will consider it. Thanks. How would separating the procedure affect the yield? Curious. To be honest, I have been delaying this decision for more than 7 years. I’m really anxious about it and I don’t want to go through the experience again. I did not request anything from the doctor, it was his opinion to do it at once, and I can’t say I don’t like that. Of course I am afraid of overharvesting or scarring the donor, but after seeing many results of Dr. Yaman here I believe I am in safe hands.
  8. Thanks for your replies everyone. How soon after the transplant should I start the meds if I will? Any other treatments or supplements topical or oral you suggest? I might start taking some hair supplements like Solgar or Nature’s Bounty, anything specific do you recommend? I am also thinking of doing multiple PRP treatments for both donor and recipient areas, first session at time of procedure and then 21 days, 45 days, 90 days and 180 days, 270 days and 360 days post-op. I believe it would help both the recipient area grow better and the donor area heal with minimal scarring. What do you think? I have attached my photos for reference.
  9. Greetings, I am booked for a FUE hair transplant with Dr. Yaman on 21st of June, a week from now. He is going to transplants 5300 grafts from my head donor area to create a lower hairline, fill the crown and in between. I will follow Dr. Yaman’s instructions but I would also would appreciate your input regarding how can I optimize my results and healing of donor site. I am not on any medications or supplements. Thanks.
  10. Update: I saw Dr. X (one of the recommended here) and he advised 3000 grafts +10% possibly, only covering the front, none at crown, and not extending hairline at all. From what I understood from their representative is that they don’t do more than 3500 usually because “the people who work here can only stay for this much time”, not because of anything related to my specific case. His assessment was super quick and simple compared to Dr. Yaman’s, I don’t think I will go with him. I went to see Dr. Yaman as well, he did a thorough assessment and recommended for me 5300 grafts covering the whole area from crown to hair line with extending the hairline a little anteriorly. He said my donor hair thickness is 6 microns and I have some doubles and triples that can give me good coverage. I feel comfortable with his assessment and opinion. He said I have the choice for manual or mechanical extraction, I don’t know what’s better for my case so I asked what he recommended and he said mechanincal is better. The procedure will be done in one day. Would appreciate your input. Updated photos with longer hair
  11. I did not know that existed. So, oral Minoxidil and topical fin would be safest and most effective I guess? I remember I had so many unwanted hairs growing on my forehead and around my eyebrows when I used topical Minoxidil, I am afraid that will happen more with oral? Thank you for tagging your post, seems clean and really encouraging. Keep updating please. Best of luck!
  12. Thanks for your input. I don’t know a lot about any of these medications, will they restore my hair by themselves? Or is it just to prevent further loss? Will starting them after the transplant be enough if I decide to do so or should I go for them first then think about the transplant? For me they were always a no just because I know they play with testosterone, however, I don’t know their true effect and whether the effect is actually noticeable on other parts of the body including down there. I will read about them. I am living in Istanbul for the next 6 months and I will not have the chance to be here for this long ever again, and I prefer being close and following up in clinic post-transplant. That is why I am interested in having the transplant now.
  13. I don’t think I can afford him, read somewhere he is 2.7 euros per graft.
  14. Thank you for replying. I understand that and I might use Minoxidil but I don’t want something that might affect my testosterone as that will drop by nature. What makes Turan better than Gur or Yaman?
  15. Hello, I am 31 year old, been losing hair for 10 years, not on any medications, I used Minoxidil in the past for a year or two and had no problem but I stopped and when I got back I had an allergic reaction and stopped it. I don’t want to use a DHT blocker. I am living in Istanbul, so I am looking for surgeons in Istanbul. I have read many reviews here but I am still torn between some names. The doctor doing the procedure or most of it is important to me. Dr. Bicer is out of my budget. Dr. Yaman, Dr. Gur, Dr. Turan and others had good results but I cannot decide. Estenove had a nice result on someone I know but I read here any center like that could be a “hair mill”. I don’t want to travel somewhere else. I don’t mind having another surgery in the future. Would appreciate your input about a plan for my transplant, number of grafts, where to transplant first, and the recommended surgeons. Thank you in advance.
  16. Looking great, just curious, how much did it cost?
  17. Hello, I searched the internet for results by Prof. Dr. Derya Özçelik but I didn’t find enough. Any help would be appreciated. She is a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, it seems she gives courses in hair transplant. I was told she does her operations herself and not technicians. But I did not find any results online.
