Gatsby will be along shortly. I'm sure he will recommend you avoid a surgery in Australia since there are no reputable surgeons there. As has been said, Turkey is well known for hair surgery but there are many clinics there who deliver sub par results and relatively few good surgeons. If I were you, I'd check the recommended list on here and draw up a shortlist. Many Australians seem to favour Asia due to ease of travel and there are some high quality surgeons there that are good value.

It's usable using roaming. It'll depend on your provider as to whether that's included in your regular tariff. There will be Sims you can buy in the airport if not.

What Gym Protein do you guys use?

That's absolutely sensible - you see no evidence, so choose to believe there isn't a link between creatine and hair loss. As far as I can see, there has not been a study to assess the impact to taking it on hair (the 2009 South African study didn't set out to do that). It's a risk/reward assessment, and you choose the benefits are greater than the risks. You are obviously welcome to share your belief, but it's exactly that - there is little proof either way and certainly not enough to make a definitive statement. -

But we are discussing the impact of creatine on DHT (not free testosterone - that wasnt seen to change in the old study). You're right though, more gym, increased testosterone, increased DHT. Given my belief and anecdotal evidence, I don't think taking creatine gives enough benefits compared to the risk. However, i would rather have long-term fitness and health than hair so I use the gym, despite it increasing testosterone. -

Absolutely true. However, it's my belief. It's the belief of some hair surgeons. You definitely say it's not the case. How did you reach that conclusion? -

There was definitely a correlation between acceleration in hair loss and creatine in my specific case. I cycled on and off and few times and noticed it each time. -
Need advice about BHT
BackFromTheBrink replied to patronovski's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
From what I understand (having read others opinions and experiences) beard hair is the next preferred option after scalp. My understanding is that survival rates are higher for beard than chest. That's anecdotal though - I'm not aware of any studies being performed to prove that. -
Need advice about BHT

I'm still seeing donor recovery 7 months after my second procedure. I'd say 4-5 months was when it really turned a corner. -
I don't actually know. While I'm sure that sounds odd, with my surgeries I've found surgeons I trust then pretty much followed their advice blindly. I'm a Norwood 5a (going on 6) with a big head and relatively fine hair. In total I've had 5500 grafts. Most on here would say it wouldn't be enough, but I'm quite happy the way it's growing. My hairline looks like this now (brightly lit, next to a window), and I'm 6.5months in.

For shock loss I can totally empathize. I was worried my donor was overworked and my family also commented on it. At about 4 months that changed and by 6 it had totally recovered. Bisanga is in a totally different league to the vast majority of reputable doctors, nevermind Turkish hairmills. I have every confidence your donor will bounce back, but you'll need patience.

Depends on how you look at it. If you want to test how effective medication is, you need at least 6 months and more likely 12 months. Usually reputable clinics have at least a 3 month waiting list. For results, usually people are above baseline after about 5-6 months. However, if you are transplanting into their hairline and bald areas it may look 'odd' until the hairs mature at 10 month onwards. Odds are that if you got a transplant tomorrow you'd look much better for the wedding. However, it all depends what route you take and availability of surgeons.

It look very natural to me. I'm in the same position of thinking my hairline could be lower. However, I wouldn't want to risk having it look less natural. We're a similar age (I think) and think a low hairline would draw attention. -
The hairline has less blood flow than the crown? I thought it was the opposite, and that is why the crown typically takes longer to grow after surgery?

The video seems like it's by the same person as who wrote the article you referenced. Lots of 'this happened, we don't know why' and then jumps to more unsubstantiated conclusions and half baked theories. To ask again, what is your goal with this? You seem very convinced by the videos and articles. So now what?
-
Ok. Now look at patients who have had no loss since their transplant more than 10 years ago. It seems like you've looking for information that supports your theory rather than looking at the entire body of evidence. What's your desired outcome here? To educate us? To determine your own treatment plan? Speaking of which, I assume you've been having Botox to relax your scalp muscles and lower tension? Has it improved your situation?

I'm not sure that happens to everyone. There's a theory that where the follecular unit isn't transferred whole they don't survive in the long term. I'm not how true that is, or what the optimum amount of surrounding tissue is to maximise long term survival. It's also difficult to determine whether you're losing transplanted or native hairs.
