  1. hey man..I would definitely start looking into propecia and rogaine..propecia essentially stops hair loss in most men and rogaine stimulates new growth. However, propecia is about $70 a month (quite expensive but it works!) and rogaine I believe is only about $10 a month or so. The only thing about these products is that yes they work, but it's my understanding that once you start them your hair becomes pretty dependant upon them and therefore if you stop using em you will quickly go back to where you were if not worse..so it's pretty much a lifelong committment. Another thing though, and I know you probably like keeping your hair long, is that you might want to consider keeping your hair shorter. From personal experience, I have noticed that when my hair is shorter (but not shaved or too short) it definitely looks more full and healthier. When you grow it out especially as long as you have it it seems to get thinner and more stringy...hope this helps!
  2. flatline - The few times that I went/go out after my op (and I'm just now 2 weeks out) I used a bandana for the first 11 days and didn't put a hat on til the 11th day or so (from my understanding it seems like the 10th day is the point that the grafts are pretty much locked in for good). However, my doc essentially said that I could wear a hat out of the surgery center as long as it was loose fitting but I just didn't wanna risk anything so I didn't...because if you think about it, a tight hat is too tight around the temples and hairline region and a loose hat just sort of sits on the entire recipient area..which I didn't like either of those options. The bandana seemed to work really well though and I didn't/haven't had any problems with it. I never tied it too tight though and when I would take it off I would just untie it from the back and sort of let it fall off. Hope this helps!
  3. This is something that I have always wondered ever since I started going bald when I was about 17 or so..I can't think of any medical or scientific reasoning behind this phenomenon. Does anybody have any ideas on this? I've often thought about Darwin's "survival of the fittest" (yeah I know that sounds weird) to try to figure out what possibly could be beneficial/detrimental about this occurence but I can't think of anything. It just seems like in my opinion that logically either all the hairs on one's head should be vulnerable to DHT or none should. Anyways, just a thought!
  4. Has anyone ever experienced some really bad stretching of the donor scar by working out too hard or doing too many of the "wrong" exercises and would like to share? And if so what exercises you did?
  5. Is the price for an FUE determined on a per graft basis like an FUT? or is it different?
  6. Bill, did you have this HT recently? If now a days it's a general consensus on not going below the occipital ridge thats weird the doc would have done that. Have you talked to him about it?
  7. Would yall say that bench (either barbell or dumbbell) pulls the neck region?
  8. Alright thanks a lot guys....I feel a lot better now as I was getting pretty worried for a while there. I'm usually never this cautious/OCD about other surgeries or broken bones that I've had but hairs are so delicate that it's hard not to want to baby them and be extremely careful!
  9. Yeah I've heard anywhere from the 5th day, the 7th day, 10th day, 14th day....but it seems like I see the 10th day more than anything else so in my opinion after about 10 days or so it's my understanding that they're pretty much locked in for good.
  10. Yeah is it bad to experience this sort of thing? I mean I can't see how there's any way that the follicles popped out because I never even touched my scalp until my 12th day out of surgery and my doc said by then I pretty much couldnt even pull em out at that point. Plus I never saw any blood which I heard is a tell-tale sign that you lost a graft
  11. Alright so I know that this issue has been talked about before on this forum but I wanted to bring it to the forefront of the discussion board again. My HT was about 2 weeks ago and every single time I shower I notice this little white balls (for lack of better description) that seem to just appear around my newly transplanted hair. These "balls" or crusts are fatty-like and squishy. Now it was on day 12 that I even touched my recipient area in the front to try to gently get the scabs/crusts off. I know it is normal for hair to come off along with the scabs but these little white things don't look like my idea of a scab at all. I've heard that it is normal for these white things to come off when you're working that scabs off and that it's also ok for them to have hair in them. But what exactly are they? Is is just wet skin that sort of swells up and turns white or possibly the very top of the grafts? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!

  13. Yeah I agree with DDD03..I believe this sort of thing could be very comparable to giving and receiving blood. Your body recognizes certain things as foreign and will ultimately reject it if it deems it that. But another thing is that just about every single person has a unique hair color, texture and thickness and I think it would look very weird to have 2 different sets of hair on your head! I just can't see how anyone could be a perfect match with someone else.
  14. Yeah I'm sorry to hear about that too Bill..If you don't mind me asking, was the reason your scar got so big strictly due to the doc goin too low in the donor area? or was there any other contributing factors? I wish you all the best man.
  15. Yeah I agree that breaks from working out are definitely good cuz it gives your body time to heal and things like that..but a month to me seems a little overkill..as long as your cautious i guess i dont see what it can hurt
  16. Alright thanks for the feedback Clint! I think I'm fine in terms of not doing things that pulls my neck because I haven't felt any tension back in that area so far....its just when I work out I go pretty hard and I'm just hopin it's not too hard too quick. My doc said about 2 weeks and be careful of straining the donor area like with squats, deadlift, holding heavy DBs in my hands, things like that. My initial consult to get an HT was with Bosley (tho I did not get it done by Bosley) and one of the things I mentioned was when I could work out again....they said 1 week and made no mention at all of stretching the donor scar.....I found that somewhat odd

Hey guys...I'm new to this forum and have just recently had a hair trasplant roughly 2 weeks ago....I'm also an avid weightlifter and I've heard/read many different theories on when, in what ways and how to work out after an HT. I started exercising again one week after my HT and have about every other day since then. I don't do anything that pulls my neck, really just bodyweight exercises like pushups, chinups, abs (no situps though) and lat pulldowns and isolated leg exercises like leg press, leg curls and things of that nature. I haven't noticed any pulling or tension in my donor area but I'm wondering if you guys think its ok for me to continue working out like this with it bein so soon after my HT. All advice is welcome! Thanks!
