Thanks mate. Yes, quite a few reasons, went into more detail on a post before the op. It's on my profile but the link is here

It was essentially so that I could keep my same hairstyle. Which has always been a short back and sides, longer on top pushed forwards to cover my hairline. Going partial shave has meant that once the scabs were off, I could style my hair as usual. Before the scabs came off though, I had it tied up in the central plait seen in the op pic for the first week and a bit then just rocked a slick back around the house to make sure no hair got caught. Kept spraying saline on the hairline anyway so that meant the native hair stayed wet and away from the recipient area.

Hair looks good mate, you have adequate density at the front so if he wasn’t going to do any work in those areas, makes sense to go partial shave. As you’ve said you can flip your hair forwards. I wasn’t as fortunate I had more aggressive hair loss so opted for complet shave look. Looking forward to seeing your results develop. Should get stunning density along with a natural look. I think you did the right thing by going conservative with the design too. Probably why he was able to dense packin

Awesome result ....extremely natural hairline with adequate density ....congratulations

People from UK should really consider de mittal...

He is super chilled Archan knows his stuff, takes pride in his work and you can tell he wants to become regarded as one of the best. It’s nice to see other patients posting their experiences. And I wish Dr Mittal the best.

    @Nelly

    Hi,

looks great! When did your scalp begin to look “normal” again? Less redness etc… and when did you really think your new hair began to look nice enough to walk around as normal?

    Cheers.

Redness subsided around month 2-3. And then I started to notice some growth. Was very concerning at the beginning because it was sparse and irregular hairs coming from different locations. As you can see it was like Norwood 3 entire frontal 1/3 pretty much. I’d say at around 6 months you get some improvement. But for me I felt at 9 months or really started to look good. It keeps getting better as time carries on. I’m taking finasteride and don’t feel like I’ll need another one anytime soon.

I've had a consultation with him last month, he's a full IAHRS member and I first heard about him on one of Joe Tilman's videos, a hidden gem.

Looking to get a repair done, but he told me not to rush and recommended me to have consultations with Dr Edward Ball - The Maitland Clinic and Dr Greg Williams - Farjo Hair Institute first.

Who did you go with in the end?

I agree and thanks for the advice.

I do not mind paying the consult fee.  My issue was not with Dr Mani, it was more with the manner of communication with the surgical assistant.

Yes I have now had consults with both surgeons and sales people acting like specialists and the difference is night and day.

My procedure is booked for 3rd March and I previously detailed my circumstances with pictures on this post:

    (Any feedback welcome)

Ahhh sorry to read about your first procedure. Finasteride is very important. A game changer in many circumstances. You have a fairly gappy hairline, assuming what was once there no longer is.

at the end of the day as long as your surgeon has filled you with confidence that he can do the job whilst setting out what is achievable then good luck to you mate. Did a quick search on the doc seems good, but he also worked for dhi.

If this was your experience it does not make my experience untrue.
They offered me a free online consultation with the surgical assistant.  When I asked if I could see the Dr in person I was told it would be £300 for that.

I would not mind paying but did not like how they communicated.  This was in November before I even knew about this forum.

Baal you should do the same. Get a feel for what it is you want to achieve and then you can narrow your search. Again don’t know your circumstances but if Dr Mani was on your shortlist for consults, maybe you can do what “my dad is bald” did and ask for a rebait against a procedure. Sometimes you have to connect with a surgeon and see how you feel about them and if they’re actually going to take your concerns seriously and if what you are asking for is achievable according to them.

don’t get sucked into the free consults with the sales guys who pose as hair specialists. You need to have a in depth conversation with atleast 3 surgeons. And it should be the surgeon. And if they are not the right fit for you move on.

anyway good luck and I look forward to watching your journey. Forums can be hard place to navigate I struggle at the best of times.

This isn't true. I had an in person consultation with him at the beginning of February and he charged £150 for an hour. I decided to go ahead with Dr Mani after hearing about his reviews and seeing some good results on here. I requested the consultation fee was taken off the final price, and they agreed to do this.

For anyone wondering, I am booked in with Dr Mani in September 2023.

Good luck bud, I’m sure you’ll have a great experience. You’re cheeky to ask for that, but hey ho. You should put up what your goals and objectives are for other members of this community to give you some feedback to. I can’t see that you’ve done that as of yet.

  8. The advice I always give fellow hair loss sufferers wanting a ht, is simply to go and have in person consults, get to know your surgeon. It shouldn’t be rushed 30-60 mins face time discussing things with your surgeon should be the only way to approach this procedure. It doesn’t really matter who you go to, as your doing solid research and it’s brought you to good conclusions. But take your time don’t feel rushed. You should also be able to connect with your surgeon as you’ll be on communications with them over the next couple of years atleast.

    all the best

Bear in mind though that Dr Mani Mittal will charge you £300 for a consultation with him

No I don’t believe this to be correct, he doesn’t virtual like I did for 30 or so mins at a reduced price and then an in person consult which cost £150. He’s the only surgeon that gave me an hour during consultation and felt unrushed. Ask as many questions as you want and he encourages it. Then go away and think over the information he’s given you. I barely got 10 mins with other doctors. Although they were “free” consultations

Until a doctor has organic reviews, with people actually posting their journeys, that raises suspicion for me

I can sympathise with that view as you have previously been hurt by a different surgeon. So I can understand the anxiety it may cause. After all that is said and done, as long as the people themselves getting a procedure feel good after that in itself speaks volumes about a prospective doc.

I am really disappointed to read this. I always knew of keyboard warriors but as above. Dr Mani has asked me if I would be happy to post on the forum. And so I did. As have many of his patients. I’m not sure why there is so much animosity towards good doctors who offer high quality service to their patients. Comments like this is what puts others off coming onto forums and posting in the first place.

And as above I have not been incentivised, I’m just a happy patient and enjoy the fruits of having a fuller head of hair and the confidence it’s given me.

Same happens with Dr Mani Mittal, a UK doctor on these forums. Every single review he has is posted a year later and laced with superlatives throughout.

Superb write up mate, thanks for sharing, proper clear and concise. Don’t often hear about pre-op care so that’s real interesting. I wonder why they say to bring an umbrella, do you reckon that’s to keep the sun off whilst you get in a taxi etc afterwards?

It’d be great to see how your donor is looking and some close ups of your hairline in good light would be awesome as well.

    I hope these help.

Sound advice mate if I’m honest you get a feel for the surgeon. How they make you feel how they present and especially if they recommend speaking to other people. Can’t do you any harm.

    Hi all,

Very quick update from me as I have a bit of time and 14 day mark is in a few hours- Managed to get all scabs off by day 9 and have continued with the post op care. Sleeping has been much better over the last few days and now I am hopeful I can sleep as normal without any issues.

I still have a fair amount of redness which is to be expected. If there was no redness I would have no problem going out with just a shaved head! Trying to combat it with the application of Aloe Vera gel, any other tips for reducing redness are greatly appreciated!

Out of interest, does anyone know if there is any correlation to the post op hair prior to the shed and the final results? Or is this totally circumstantial based on the growth process?

Below are a few pictures from day 10, followed by pictures from Day 14. Slightly different lighting (and quality, sorry) but it does appear that the hair is less course and is now 'fluffier'- the dreaded shed is fast approaching.

    Thanks all

You are on for some very good results, your donor looks strong and your density is very good. Look forward to following the journey.

Hi yes I’ll get some more pics on here sometime this week. Umbrella because it’s London and can rain, button up shirt so don’t need to pull a T-shirt over your head after otherwise can pull off grafts. And yes if it’s Sunny makes sense for sun but I assumed due to potential rain.
