I am 2 months post op. I want to think about my hair transplant as little as possible until the results actually start coming in.
So last week I got a #3 buzz cut and it looks freaking amazing. Plus, I'm thinking about my hair a lot less since there is less of it.
Essentially - get a buzzcut until you are out of the ugly duckling phase
That’s actually an interesting idea 🧐

I'm 7 weeks post HT, and waiting is getting more and more difficult.. Now since I have a tendency to look for new signs of growth everytime I see a mirror I had just put all the hand-held mirrors I own in a closet, plus I've put a towel on the big mirrors which I take off only when shaving.
That's stupid, I know! But I do feel it makes things easier.
I actually do plan to do this for the next 4 weeks (meanwhile, my native hair will catch back, hopefully, after it suffered a pretty harsh shock-loss).
Any tips from the veterans?
Or just tell me I'm crazy 😅

it's fine like what others said. it's just that they have shed fully. actually you can even pick the other recipient follicle and not damage the grafts since what's left on the other spots are hair waiting to be pushed out. (it's fine to do, but it leaving them there won't affect anything so you can just leave it no problem.)
Oh.. is that it? didn’t know some follicles shed fully and others don’t.. 🙏i thought if it sheds - it sheds completely. I wonder what might affect this.

Hey everyone!
It has been exactly one month post HT with Dr. Maras @ HDC.
There's something I have noted - I have an area of the size of around 6x8 mm which looks devoid of any signs of grafts. I've been looking at post 1 week/2 weeks pictures, but this is the location which had some more drastic blood clotting and scabs so it's hard to understand if there were / I had follicles in this area.I've added a magnified photo, one with a yellow marking indicating the mentioned spot and one without.
I think this is the only transplanted area which does not show sighs of small hair 'black dots' and I'm concerned it might turn/stay bald

Both are decent options.
They are not elite but as far as I know they do solid work and are both good value.
They’re both better than “decent”.

Hdc has two doctors while bicer is only one, hence better waiting time.

Of course I’m being paid. My time isn’t free. Now, I have to say, it’s quite upsetting to hear “it’s biased” this is not true at all. Any one can post any review from ANY surgeon recommended or not. Anyone can comment and share their opinions good or bad. We do not censor comments, posts, or threads. In fact, there was a recent thread where the patient was trying to use the forum to get a refund. Guess what, we forced the thread to stay up, why? Because transparency and truth is valuable.
you're doing a great job and we definitely can't expect someone to do this vast amount of work for free. Also your responses are always objective, thoughful, and knowledgeable.

You’re assuming the surgeon have a full list. Many times they don’t, very few doctors have the luxury of turning away patients without taking a loss. I can count them on one hand.
Hence the word "IF" in my original quote:
"*If* you're having full schedule.. there's no reason for you to.."
and only ~3-4-5 surgeons? I'm genuinely surpried 😅 -

basically they pay a monthly subscription fee.
there is money involved, like other forum, and there is a bit of bias.still, compared to other forum it's a little more... transparent, and open.
as far as i know, there are standard that they employ, as in they would only pick at least a decent to good surgeon, and not an overmarketed hairmill.there are a few case of dropped recommendation, but usually only if there's a fatal mistake that go open.
in any case, the recommendation list although is not absolute, it's a good place to start your research, no doctor have a 100% rate once they go long over the years, there are bound to be some bad results. one doc on the list have some bad looks lately, but the price is... affordable for most. at least, i think it's still better than random marketed clinic.
thank you! this seems understandable.
for the sake of diversity - what are other good forums over the internet dealing with HTs?

Melvin has already answered this line of inquiry in an honest, candid way. We are fortunate to have Melvin and a no-pay forum. Doctors recommended for membership are put up scrutiny not just by the Forum Moderators and Owners but also the Forum members. As Jon says, it works 2 ways---and guess who benefits--us! There is so much smoke out in the internet , it is great to have a place to share experiences, cull out trolls, and get honest feedback and advice. Let's top beating this horse; there is no free lunch.
thank you for the reply.
I searched for his answer about this but couldn't find it.

The biggest thing is that basically the forum recommended doctors must pay a fee and go through a process to be selected.
Doctors of a certain standing and reputation may feel they do not need to join organisations or forum lists because word of mouth etc. gives them more than enough business.
That's why although the forum recommended list is a good place to start, it's not fully exhaustive of the only best options out there.
However, it's always important to remember to look at independent patient reviews too to see more recent work.
Is this a known fact - that some of the surgeons pay money to the management in this forum?

Both of these surgeons are ethical, they refuse patients all the time. That said, I would tell you NOT to get an HT at your age. I don’t know your hair loss without pictures. But you’re too young. My fear is that hair loss could accelerate and you be stuck with a gap. Can you share pictures?
Just a general note about this logic (with no relaion to H&W or anyone in particular): when someone refuses a patient, it doesn't mean they're being ethical. If you're having full schedule (1 month waiting list or 1 year waiting list), there's no reason for you not to refuse a patient - your supply is already smaller than demand anyway and refusing a patient does not represent any potential loss of money.

At what point in time (4 weeks? 6 weeks? 8 weeks?) can you be sure you're one of those 'lucky bastards' who won't get the sheding period?
-

This happens to just about everyone. It always looks and feels like you have a nice buzz cut. It will probably all start shedding very soon.
When is it safe to say sheding is less likely to occur? After 1 month with no sheding?

First of all, never go to Turkey. 99% of clinics are hairmills in that country. They'll you botch you and destroy your donor area for life. Except a handful few clinics.
You shouldn't have gotten a hair transplant.
You had poor survival or/and permanent shock loss of native miniaturized hairs.
That is why I can't stress it enough hair transplant surgery is always LAST RESORT.
However the GOOD NEWS is you don't much hairloss at all.
Your situation is by no means dramatic and if you get on Finasteride now you'll be okay.
Get on Finasteride and topical minoxidil or even better Dutasteride + oral minoxidil.
Give yourself 6 months at least. Don't rush into a second surgery.
Your situation is an easy fix. Give the medication some time.
If medication doesn't do anything then someone like Konior or Couto would do a wonderful job with only 300 grafts on each side.
Otherwise a good budget option is Dr. Bicer or FUECAPILAR in Turkey.
What about maras?

Is this the usual size and shape of necrosis? I think it’s suppose to be circular in size and noticeably bigger. This looks very scattered/diffuse.
Can a surgeon reply maybe? -
Also in your recent comment it actually looks better🧐

Hi Yan,
I also had my procedure done with Maras (just saw you posted about it).
From what I see, our cases are (unfortunately) not the same. You had dried blood that eventually cleared. I did my procedure 6 days after yours and my wound is showing no signs of clearing in the near future.
You had it 8 days before me.. I see..

I seriously doubt it’s a necorsis, mine looked the same and healed completely and we’re in the same time frame

38 YO, been on minoxi+propecia for the last 8 years. Balding status is stable.
I wanted to strengthen my hair line becuase the only way I like my hair style is ~5-6 cm long brushed to the back with clay/wax. Sounds stupid I know but it really does change the way I look and feel. I was Tired of using toppik and devoting20 minutes every morning to hair styling.
Iinitially the Dr evaluated ~2000-2200 hair follicles will be needed, but during transplantation I've been told my scalp is actually in a very good condition and we can achieve quite high density (as you can see, my initial condition is relatively ok), and eventually 2900 follicles were transplanted. We also lowered the hairline in about 1 cm (1.5..?).We didn't adress my crown as it is quite good, and I don't mind continue using toppink in this area as it's much easier to apply there.
Here're my 2 weeks results. Ofcourse I know this is probaby going to shed, but as everyone I pray (and probably be disappointed) it won't

approx. 1 week ago I asked the same question (my pics looked the same as yours) and everyone here said it's going to heal and it did heal and looks normal. I'm a bit surprised it did turn up to be necrosis in your case 😕
