Logging in just to share my excitement for you.

This is looking so good! I know I'm biased, but HLC does really great hairlines. Very natural looking.

I know you'll go back next year for your crown and temples. You have a long way to go but this is already amazing. Hair transplants have come a LONG way!!

    Congratulations, brother!

Thank you! I'm thrilled with results thus far, and yes the journey is still on-going with crown needed. It was your case that really got me interested in HLC. I really appreciate the time you took to answer my DMs pre-op and post-op.

I also read many reviews on here and Reddit, and acknowledge that Dr Diep is fairly controversial with the criticism (eg, intentionally implanting in cornrows as opposed to randomly which can look like a baby doll, left side is better than right side by starting left and moving right, could improve interlocking, appropriate angles, using fine singles in the front, having a more uniform extraction pattern on the donor, natural appearance, and donor management, etc). My preference is not to travel in the US or internationally to see other doctors. I ultimately decided Dr Diep is the best fit for me.

At least you know what you’re getting into. Why are you apprehensive to travel, so much that you’re risking irreversible damage?

Wasn’t intentional. I shoot the updates in the same bathroom and same lighting to keep it consistent.

watched the video again, it looks like either your encoding settings or likely YouTubes compression of your video crushed the black detail. Almost certain your original video prior to uploading to YouTube is tack sharp. YT is the worst, lol.

  4. @Raskolnikovthanks for sharing. It appears to me HLC can never do well enough to meet anyones standards on what is ethical.

The patient who was rejected lost out on a $200 ticket, and his arrangements and expectations were not met.
HLC not only lost out on a $12K procedure, or even half that. Heck they burned that 3 day slot to earn a grand total of $0, well below the $12k revenues they expected to receive that week from said patient. It was also inconvenient to reject him last minute, as I’m sure HLC couldn’t fill that slot with a replacement patient. But they felt that it was more important to not operate.

Yet HLC is still getting the blame for wasting his time, but no credit for doing the right thing. Classic.

  5. I think we need to separate bad outcomes from pure unethical behavior. I know this is anecdotal, but HLC did not want to even have a discussion with me about scheduling my HT until I was on fin for 6 months. Had they just wanted to take my money, they could have locked me in with a deposit. They had no assurance I'd even come back to them after 6 months.  A similar case I saw on reddit this morning, see screenshot I attached:

But there is some clear disrespect and shade being thrown at this patient who has provided a emotional painful story and instead of offering support and strong advice you mock him for picking “potato” photos and not knowing how to email himself? Or use MS Paint?

One of the photos posted had a resolution of 99x154 pixels, compressed down to 4KB. Effort wasn't shown in a thread where you're trying to state your case against an entire clinic of doctors. Now that clear photos have been provided, he has a leg to stand on.

  7. Clearly there is poor growth in the recipient area. You had had 2000 grafts, how many would you say survived, 1000?

So what caused 50% of the grafts to not grow; Did the doctor have a transection rate of 50%? Did he handle 50% of the grafts too aggressively? Were the grafts not implanted at the correct depth? Is it possible that the seeds were fine, and that the soil is just bad?

I really hope to figure this out. I know you created this thread to warn others, or at least use caution when you're surgeon moves ahead with a procedure despite having known you have a skin issue.

  8. If Couto himself expressed disappointment at this stage, then I think it’s safe to say your concerns are now 100% validated by none other than the best person to do so. The silver lining is that Couto acknowledge the issue early on so you don’t have a knot in your stomach for another 6 months that other clinics might string you along for.  Whether you’d call this a touch up, or even a repair case, I would absolutely give Couto another round. The most important thing for your next pre-op consultation for a touch up/repair, would be to clearly layout the expectations. If the plan presented by Couto in theory could get you there, go for it!
