  1. So far. I would say I am pleased with the results. It is still early (couple months) and I chose non permanent ink. My situation was more for filler, and for me I did not have a lot of other choices. Feel free to ask me any questions.
  2. Hello. Long time dweller on this forum. Wanted to share my experience with Ahead INK in Fort Lee New Jersey. I have had at least 6 transplants starting from when I was 21 years old. I am 48 years old now. I have exhausted my donor area for strip and really do not have many options in the way of trying to complete a full look. Shaving my head is too scary as I have several large and wide scars on the back of my head. I have been using concealer every day of my life for literally 25 years. I never leave the house without it. I have been considering SMP for about 2 years. I visited all the companies that offer this service in the SoCal area (His hair, scalp aesthetics, Dr Rassman, Umar, Good Look Ink) and spoke to some on the phone (Shapiro, Ahead Ink). I chose Ahead Ink because of the non permanency of the treatment. I was comfortable with the Milena Lardi products being used, and because of the interaction with the owner Erik. Who turned out to be just an all round great guy. I did have to fly to New York. Which is not easy. But overall I am very happy with my decision and with the skill and hospitality of Erik. I had to do 4 sessions, two on the first visit in two days and two on subsequent days 6 weeks later. I did have a some problems. But these were not related to Ahead INK. After my first session, I went home and used some hair spray and leave on conditioner on my hair (which I typically don't do) and my scalp became very irritated, and flaked and peeled a lot. I lost some of my pigment because of this. In fact Erik was stunned at what my scalp looked like. To his credit he took his time with me. We got my scalp cleaned up, his brother even went to the store for me and bought me special shampoo and conditioner. Really went out of their way for me. The pictures attached are at his studio the first day and after the fourth session. I am hoping that The ink will last. I will post some follow up pictures in about 6 months to see how it is holding up. Overall I highly recommend the clinic and if I can assist anyone please reach out to me. The last two days, I went to work for the first time ever without a drop of concealer in my hair (I was tempted). Kinda cool!
  3. The color of my current hair is only relevant to the point of blending it make it look full. Simply stated if you have dark hair (or darkish) color the color need to blend and add density will have to be dark. Then if you shave in later years (lets assume minimal color shifting for now) it will appear to dark. And potentially too dark to appear natural. An 80 year old man with a dark brown shaved look may not look that natural. Maybe I am re-stating what I stated prior. If so sorry.
  4. Hello Gang. I have been to 3 separate consults over the past week, and had my last consult bring something up that the other two did not. I thought I would share and also ask some thoughts from the pro's that lurk on the board. The consult i went to today brought up this point. He stated that you kind of need to decide if you are ever going to shave your head before going into any permanent smp procedure. The reason being is this. If you are just using the SMP as filler the color that we will use (I have dark and grey hair) will be dark as to blend in and fill the gaps However if I was going to shave my head, he would use a much lighter color to appear "shaded" and not overly dark and unnatural. Up until this point, I had not considered this. It makes sense. Ideally I would love to shave my head, but lots of scars back there that I have had for 20 plus years, not quite ready to take that leap yet. Thoughts?
  5. Nicole. I sent you a private message. I am not sure that you received. Could I email you with some questions? Thanks. Al
  6. I am in the same boat as you dense. Many years of transplants, and concealer has worn on me. I am looking at SMP as a solution. I actually went to Dr Rassmans office today, he was really really nice, and told me that I was a good candidate, he let me peak at a guy who was having a SMP done (he was shaved head tho) NHI (Pak/Rassman) only do permanent. I did ask him about his post about the silicon, he admitted that the likelihood of problems are minimal but he said why risk it. NE fighter. Do you have pics from your experience?
  7. Thank you for your responses. I did wind up having my procedure several days ago with Ross. Nice staff, Ross is funny and without pretension, they took all day with me. We didnt get the amount of grafts I was hoping for, so I will need another procedure sometime in the future. Thanks.
  8. I am looking for information on this doctor. I have seen in the past there was some debate on his admission to the coalition, but the site is lacking on a signifigant amount of real patient experiences. I have visited several doctors and am considering Doc. Ross. Thanks for your help.
