  1. I don't really see anything wrong here but I'm not an expert. If you're referring to those black and yellowish crusts, then those fall out over time.
  2. I agree with the idea of allocating more vacation time to before your transplant. By day 5-7 you should be feeling fine, but to me there's just caution around wearing something over your head for extended periods of time following the surgery. When I flew home, I traveled for like 9 hours wearing a surgical cap and I would take off the cap every 1-2 hours so sweat doesn't build up on my transplanted hairs. It was kind of inconvenient.
  3. I usually use Booking.com's mobile app. If you look at rooms on your phone, they usually have some mobile discounts. Here are some options I see in mid-May from Booking using dates May 10 - May 31. (I didn't add tax rates, so prices will be more expensive than these after tax). Habitacion cerca del centro - $576 for Double room with shared bathroom - $645 for double room with shower Pension Alicante - $641 for double room with shower and sink, shared toilet Ruzafa Lander - $886 (plus $100 cleaning fee) for Studio apartment, private bathroom - $960 (plus $100 cleaning fee) for one-bedroom apartment, private bathroom, small kitchen, washer machine. Sundos Feria Valencia - $924 for double room with private bathroom. I'm not sure how you plan on getting around Valencia, but public transportation is kind of shit there compared to other places like Madrid and Barcelona. So you might want to get a place close to your doctor, unless you have a plan of getting around. Never took a taxi there and I don't think they have uber or anything.
  4. You can technically leave within a day or two after the surgery. If you're traveling, I'd feel more comfortable staying around for at least a week in the area. The day after surgery, I had some bleeding issues in my donor area and it really would have been a pain in the ass if I was flying out that day and I was just leaking everywhere on the plane without having access to proper bandages. Your face is also probably going to swell up on day 3-6. You'd also be giving your grafts some more time to solidify before putting on headgear for extended periods of time (assuming you will be wearing a hat or something while traveling). Where in Spain are you staying? Spain usually has cheap private rooms to stay in, like $30-70 a night, but quite a bit of them are shared bathrooms. If you're lucky, you may find a private room with a shower in it for around the same price.
  5. Yeah, I don't know too much about other surgeons, but Dr. Diep's work seems to be the best in the United States. I don't think a lot of his patients cancel on him, rather they just reschedule their surgery dates, and since we're around the holidays there's probably quite a bit of rescheduling. Like I was also offered a December date the week of Christmas before getting the November offer. Sounds like you're estimated to need a manageable number of grafts, so he might be able to fit you in sooner. Especially with Omicron and the uncertainty in the news around it, I think there ought to be people rescheduling if they are traveling out of state. I don't know Dr Diep's technique exactly, but I think he harvests a lower amount of grafts, but he splits the grafts or something to get the most out of the grafts harvested. Don't quote me on that though. You might want to stay in a hotel for 2-3 days unless you have someone who is able to drive you back and forth. You usually have to arrive at his office around 5-7am on the day of the procedure, and then afterwards they recommend not to drive.
  6. It depends on whether you're doing FUT or FUE and how many grafts, but I had my consultation in October and then my procedure was the next month in November. My original appointment was scheduled for March 2022, but I was put on a waitlist for earlier appointments and emailed them like once a week to check on cancellations. I only got a week notice before I was offered the new date, but I was grateful to take it as I wanted the procedure as early as possible.
  7. I think most surgeons would tell you to get on Finasteride, at least the one who care about your results. Even if you get a transplant, they'd still probably want you to get on Fin to maintain the transplanted hairs. If you're worried about side effects, you can take a conservative approach to it at first, such as taking 1mg every 2-3 days for 1-2 months as opposed to one tablet a day so your body gets acclimated to it. When I first started taking Fin, I had a decrease in libido so I stopped taking it and everything went back to normal after a couple of weeks. Then I took it every other day, and now I'm taking it every day and I don't notice any side effects. I'd want to get a transplant as soon as possible, but some surgeons may not want to work on you until later in the future. Book some free video consultations with surgeons you're interested in. They'll give you their opinions on whether they think you should get a transplant now or later on in the future.
  8. Thanks for the replies all. Would it be safe to assume that after 2-3 weeks, wearing a beanie is okay? I ask because I plan on going to the dentist and I figure wearing a beanie would cover up well and fit with the winter look.
  9. I haven't cut my hair below a 6 guard, but I can't see the scar. My scar is not that good though. If the lighting is bright and if I bring my head to my chest, then someone may be able to see the outline of my scar, but I don't mind too much. If you seem like you'll need multiple surgeries then FUT is probably the better choice. You can always try to lighten the scar afterwards by implanting hairs there or other methods like micro-pigmentation if it bothers you.
  10. I don't like having to wear surgical caps going outside and would like to cover up with a beanie if possible. How long after surgery would it be safe to do this?
  11. Honestly, the first time I got a hair transplant, the only pain I felt was pressure in my donor area when lying down. All I remember was taking some pills and having a shot in my arm, then I blanked out for about 6 hours. The second time, I did feel the anesthesia shot in my head and I'd probably rate it a 6/10 in terms of pain. I think I felt it this time because I was given it pretty quickly after I took the pills and sedation shot. Speak with your doctor and see if they can give you sedation with enough time to knock you out before getting anesthesia. You'll probably get multiple anesthesia injections during the procedure, but your head should be numb enough after the first one where the other ones don't hurt.
  12. Thanks! I'm hoping to get rid of the scabs in the next few days but also want to be careful with how I handle the recipient area.
  13. Thanks for the response! I just felt like it'd be too early for me to start shedding so I got worried.
  14. I had an FUT done 8 days ago and I'm noticing some spacing getting larger as days go on. Today, I washed my transplanted area by lightly applying baby shampoo onto it and then rinsing it off with low pressure water. Am I unintentionally losing grafts from my washing or is this normal?
