The half time show looks good. I bet the hair will adapt to the native hair when further thickening and maturing kicks in!

Awful to hear man and unfortunately this clinic is sending out loads of patients daily on the street.
A failed hair transplant can have a huge impact on the quality of life. But Dr Tarcan + team don't seem to give a shit..

Looking forward to your further updates over the next few months. Your are looking great with some real transformation not too far away!
Hey man! What are your/the clinic's recommendations in regards to hair wax and hairspray? When is it ok to go pre-op nuts?
@Marco Van Basten have you started styling your hair with products?

Awesome results and a hairstyle on point. Enjoy the rest of the ride!

Hey again! Hope everyone out there is doing good.
Took some pictures of my 3rd month progression. I do think that growth has kicked in and I look forward to the times ahead!
Thinking out loud: I've never had thinning or recession of the centre part of my hairline. However it's looking quite thin at the moment. And since I didn't lower the hairline from the centre I suppose it's either shock loss since grafts were implanted over existing ones. Or it's permanent loss of those old natural grafts for the same reason. Either way I'm hoping for the implanted grafts to fill in this area in the end.
Take care guys!

We were originally planning for 2400 grafts, but Dr. Pinto said that my head was a bit smaller than he anticipated haha, also, he designed the right side of the hairline a little more recessed than the left due to my natural asymmetry (which was always the case to be fair) and because the frontal muscle was thicker and higher up on that side apparently.
The height from the tip of my forelock to the green line is about 6cm and to the blue line, just under 6.5cm, maybe 6.3cm. The corners of my hairline are just under 7cm to the same point. So yeah, it is kind of conservative in that I didn't use 3000 grafts to lower it more towards a flatter NW1 style and just went with a solid NW2, but it's still fairly low down overall being essentially between 6-7cm in height across the whole hairline.
To answer your question, I'm overall happy with the height of my central hairline and the left side (any lower than 6-6.5cm as the central point of your hairline is just greedy and a waste of grafts when you're young and have MPB imo), but a part of me wishes I asked for the right side to be a bit more in line with the left height-wise as I know I would just much prefer it. To be honest, I'm already thinking I'll probably go back and get the right side brought down very slightly and a little flatter and also re-build the temple point on the right side a little bit. my left temple point is fine, but the right is set back a little more naturally and isn't squared off properly. Will probably only be like 600 grafts in total, but if I do, I'll wait 2-3 years most likely.
Here's a pic of the height:
You're reasoning not only when it comes to this but in general makes very much sense and you have a very sober way of thinking. When I look back on my 27 year old self I was kinda obsessed with getting the straighter NW1 hairline. I'm glad I came to realise the risks with that kind of correction as I age. Not only in terms of running out of donor as I might have a bigger area to play catch up with but also in terms of estethics. A NW2 hairline will always look solid no matter how old you are. In my opinion much more so than a NW1 hairline.
It's also interesting - at my surgery the right side was also created a tad bit higher than the left. I pointed it out and gently asked for it to be more symmetric, but the doctor insisted. In that situation I felt like I had to put my trust in the clinic's competence and experience. You can clearly see the difference in my pictures taken from in front of me, even if it's very subtle. I'm sure it's gonna be fine though and I hope it won't bother me.
We also have the same distance between the glabella and the hairline!
Looking forward to follow the upcoming hair journey.

Makes me sad seeing these kind of results. I really feel you man! You might wanna look into some kind of repair work when 12 months have passed. Have a look at Dr. Bis.... oh wait. Wrong thread, sorry..
This is looking great so far. Excellent choice of clinic btw!

It would be redundant. As I understand it, dutasteride blocks the same 5AR that finasteride does, plus a second type of 5AR. Something like that.

Did you first consult with a licensed physician about taking both drugs concurrently?
I had no idea and has not been informed about this. I understand that it's not your profession, but based on the knowledge that you do have - do you know what potential risks the combination has on the prostate? Obviously wouldn't wanna mess with my health more than necessary.

Damn bro! Don't think I've ever seen a result this dense this fast.
Whatever happened to the really short strands of hair that neither shed or grew the first month? I have a considerable amount of them myself. Also started worrying about them being dead or something..

I agree to keep your hairline conservative because you are still young and MPB as we know is progressive over our lifetime…and it is highly ill-advised to take both DUT and finasteride together…also, how long have you been using DUT?…because you want to give it enough time to see if it is working effectively.
Because you are young…it would be wise to maintain some reserve scalp donor for your frontal third…so I concur that using some beard donor for your crown would be a consideration…while keeping in mind that your crown has a diffused thinning pattern…so, the added use of minoxidil whether the oral form or try using 5% foam (topical) may help thicken up your crown.
If you don't mind me asking - why is it highly ill-advised to take both dut and fin? I've been on 1mg fin six times per week and 1 avodart per week for quite some time myself.

Hard to say, really, but looking at your pics, you look completely normal and as expected for a month. Looks to me like most of the grafts have just shed anyway and I can't really see any that are stalled. But yeah, I meant that some of the ones that seemed to never grow much will indeed probably shed or be forced out when the new hair sprouts and come back just fine, although some might also be follicles that didn't make it.
Let's hope fore survivors.
Thanks for taking your time JD! Really appreciate it.

Haha, I know the feeling. I'm a day behind you and look pretty much the exact same with the shedding. Time goes though, it's been a month already, you'll be seeing growth before you know it.
As for the stalled grafts, it's pretty normal from what I've seen over the years, they'll probably just shed in the next few weeks too and grow back normally in a few months. I think the follicle just hasn't managed to shed the hair yet and the trauma from extraction knocked it out of the growth phase completely, hence why it's not grown.
You might find some that stay for a while and don't end up growing at all though, but it's no big deal either.
You are totally in the right. Time flies!
So basically - the hair that forms the stubble as per now will eventually shed and end result will not be affected by this? Those grafts are not "dead"? To be clear, I'd say that the majority of the transplanted grafts have shed and then there's a few of them that seem to have started to grow.
-
Celebrating 4 weeks today and I really don't enjoy these times. I look far worse than before and I know it's a long way until I'm on the other side of the hill.
I do have a question. Perhaps someone knows - there's a lot of hairs in the recipient area that has not shed nor grown. They are simply the exact length as after the surgery. What's the deal?
I'll update my case with pictures monthly from now on.
Take care everyone!

Yeah, not too dissimilar of cases (although you were in a better position than me to begin with with a bit less overall hair loss). I'll be keeping an eye on yours too mate!
Slightly less loss, but your general hair quality is running circles around mine!

Quick question, how much did it cost for the HT? Did you need to have cash on you or do accept credit cards/visa? @ConnorCrosby
For sure! The cost is 3.5 euro/graft. The clinic accept cash only which is a bit of a hassle.
To a lousy exchange rate I converted my money into euro and since I got fewer grafts operated I've ended up with 2200 euro in my wallet. My bank does not handle cash at all, so my only option now is to convert the euros back to the same lousy exchange rate and basically shop groceries for the cash for a few months.
In the end I think that it's gonna cost me around 700 euro, only for the fact that the clinic doesn't have any modern payment solutions.
