Hi guys. I've followed in the background for a while now, reading a lot of threads and following some journeys. My objective had been to establish which clinics can be trusted. I chose 3 Dr's who come with good reviews from you guys and I contacted them. I've heard back from 2 of them.
Dr Turan - I'm not a good candidate for a HT as my donor area was not great. Recommended I see a dermatologist and start on finasteride or minoxidil.
Dr Yaman - Said my donor area is good and I'm a good candidate for HT. Gave me a quote with plenty of chat, back and forth.
Dr Bicer - requested further pictures. As of yet, no reply.
I know full well that you guys don't know better than a Dr does and I'm not trying to undermine any Dr. I would simply like some feedback from you experienced posters. I'll attach pictures below. I have previously had scalp micro pigmentation but you should see clear enough from the pictures after I let me hair grow for about 8 days.
Any advice regarding my predicament will be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Please grow your hair out longer and share the pictures for a proper evaluation.

Hi. First time poster who stumbled onto this forum while doing research and could use some advice / recommendations.
I am 45yo Caucasian / fair skin / blonde with good coverage on donor back and sides but not much on crown. I had FUT (forget exactly how many grafts but quite a few for that time) over 10 years ago in San Jose so already have a small scar, and while reasonably happy with that result and I am certain I would have much less coverage had I not done it, I would really like to get more coverage and started doing some research and making some calls; I'm looking for improvement not necessarily perfection.
I live in San Francisco and the big names here I have come across (Diep, Gujrati who works with Mohebi) have ridiculously long waits to get in even for just a consult and then even much longer for the actual procedure. I have also seen consistent very poor reviews recently for Diep, which certainly gives me pause. I am able to get in for consult with Canales at Silicon Valley Hair Institute which is pretty close-by pretty much right away but while he has good Yelp reviews, I have seen some things on this forum and elsewhere that just put me off of that place; seems like he is a big upseller and also seems to be a lower tier compared to the others. The Dr. who did my first procedure in San Jose was Dr. Jae Pak and I remember having a good experience, but it looks like he is in LA area now.
While local would be my preference, I am open to going outside my area especially if I would only need to go once and wouldn't have to wait so long since I have the flexibility to do this in the near future but maybe not in a year. I am also open to different surgery options (FUT again / FUE, BHT, etc.) especially since I already have a small scar from previous procedure that really doesn't bother me much since I tend to keep my hair somewhat long. If I did travel, would prefer to stay in my west coast region, but I suppose if I have to take a flight, what's a couple extra hours? Price is not a big issue and I'm willing to pay for quality but of course who wants to pay more than they have to!
Any advice or recommendations from members here, especially those who have navigated this recently, would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Please do share some scalp pictures also.

Hey guys,
I just wanted to share an update on the completion of 5th month of my transplant. I have passed through the ugly duckling stage(shedding phase) and being patient has really paid off well. I am taking Finasteride 1mg and multivitamins regularly. I have been travelling these days a lot that is why I did not have time to post the update. In my opinion shedding is just temporary and it shoud be taken as a passing moment, not something as a permanent situation. Just go with the flow. I am elated to have my temples and hairline back. They are developing month by month and I am yet to witness maximum growth. Eugenix has undoubtedly served me beyond my expectactions and I am indebted to them for transforming my life. The best thing about my transplant is people are not able to make out that these are transplanted hair. Every month there is a subtle change and it compounds month after month. Since I still have halfway to go, I am not able to control my greed for more hair.
Thank you for your kind words.

So I finally did a FUE transplant and put 1,600 grafts into a bald spot in my crown. Unfortunately I have less than stellar results almost 12 months later. I'm curious what the schedule typically looks like during the procedure. For me it was the consult from 10-10:30, have the Dr. perform the incisions from 10:30-11:30, have a tech extract the grafts until about 12:30, lunch, and then have the technicians place the grafts with a final wrap-up around 3:00. I'm wondering if my results would have been better if they had done the extractions, made the incisions in the recipient, and then placed the grafts. Anybody have thoughts on this? I haven't had my 12 month follow-up yet so I was going to ask them as well.
Please share some before and after pictures for a proper feedback. The full density is usually seen within 12 to 18 months as per our experience, depending from person to person.

As the title says.. if you start minoxodil then stop, does this cause permanent hair loss? Heard conflicting things
The hair growing due to Minoxidil will fall off. The hair thickening due to Minoxidil will start miniaturizing. Also some native hair may go through temporary shedding. If Minoxidil is stopped suddenly.

And if so, how much extra Grafts can be approx harvested
(maybe in percent m?)
Women and men have the same reserve with regards to the scalp donor. Infact, women have lesser donor available if we consider body hair and beard.

Where to get it ? The ones I ordered off amazing were either too tight or built with heavy cloth .
You can buy a hat (one size bigger than yours ) so that it is loose and does not brush the grafts while wearing or removing. You can get this in the local shop or on amazon.

How long does shedding last for when you change medication gang?
Usually 1 to 2 months are normal for rhe shedding to last when changing medications.

This may be a stupid question, but I'll ask anyways: Should I be seeing new hairs throughout the transplanted region or is it common to notice just the scabs? If I look closely I can see tiny hairs but also in other areas I mainly just see a scab. Does this mean the new hair could have shed already? I've been super careful the last few days. While traveling I never took off my surgical cap unless to spray saline and at night I sleep with a neck pillow at a 45 degree angle.
It is absolutely normal to notice only scabs or hair on the transplanted area. Nothing to worry about. Shedding could be there in some areas. When you have your first headwash, you will see more shedding of hair. Do not worry about it.

Interesting. I think it would be cool to have done but also would hate having to shave it down every week so it doesn’t grow out like my head hair lol
You don't have to shave it. You just have to trim it a little as per your desire and style.

Thank you so much for your patience. We're sorry about the miscommunication.

Had no idea wether this was hair loss related or cosmetic but decided I would post it here. Anyone ever had eyebrow transplant? Are there any doctors known for that? Where do they get the donor hair from?
We perform eyebrow transplantation. It comes under hair transplantation. The donor hair are taken from the nape of the neck. However, the eyebrow hair, after they have grown, have to be maintained by trimming them periodically.
You can inbox us your contact details and we could share examples of patients who have gone for eyebrow transplants with us.

Hi friends.
I had a transplant of about 4900 graphs back in September of last year. I need to have a small revision surgery of about 200 graphs in order to fix up an area where there is very low density. The doctor is performing this free of charge. Does anyone have a recommendation of how long to wait before performing the surgery? I was thinking of May which would put me at about 10 months, but would not want to do it if people think it’s too soon. Maybe wait for at least 12 months after the procedure. July or August would be the best time to have the procedure.

This looks absolutely fantastic. Please be prepared for rhe shedding phase as it could start anytime now. You can start your Finasteride intake. Do let us know if you require anything at all. We wish you the best of results.

Please do share some pictures of your scalp. It would be interesting to see the miniaturization in the donor area also.

You should consult a doctor asap. If you are having side effects with finasteride then you need to address it. Lowering the dosage could be beneficial or using topical finasteride as per the advice of the doctor.

You are eligible for a transplant in accordance to your age. However Finasteride will be important in your case so that any further progression of baldness. If you do not take finasteride then you will lose more hair in the future and you will inevitably have to go for another transplantation procedure again in the newly emptied areas.
