    Excellent stuff.

Any idea how much taxis charge around there, specifically getting from the Eurostar station to the hotel etc.? I'm working with a limited budget unfortunately.

I'm meeting with the man himself at the end of the month, as he is doing consultations in London then.

Nice! Quite expensive for taxis in Brussels but you can just use Uber, maybe the app can tell you the price if you put in the journey.

  2. Sorry to hear of your bad experience, I’m from the UK and unfortunately we do not have top tier ht surgeons there so I’m instantly sceptical. As others have said consult with Dr Bisanga and Dr Mwamba just for overall advice about what could be going on and what you might be able to do and you’ll get the best advice there is. Best of luck with it, try not to let yourself feel too down, even if it takes time I’m sure you’ll be able get to a better outcome.

His 'before and after' gallery looks impressive. I imagine it is a real pain taking yourself all the way to Belgium and back after Brexit though, especially when you are nursing a new hair transplant?

No don’t worry Brexit has no effect on taking short trips in Europe. It’s easy enough, hotel is right next to the clinic and a couple of hour flight. In my view and of most people on this forum it’s much better to put in a bit of effort or put up with a little bit of travel inconvenience and get a great result Vs the opposite and have many years of inconvenience and stress with a poor ht result. It’s important to remember a ht is for life so it’s vital to only go with the very best ht doctors, wherever it is they may be based.

Interested to know who you recommend in Europe? Dr Tam has proposed charging me over £15,000, and I'm barely a Norwood 3.

Dr Bisanga did my ht which has been great- a life changing result really, other great names to consult with would be; Dr Ferreira, Dr Pinto, Dr Mwamba and Dr Freitas. Best of luck with it!

Thanks for your comfort. It sucks and makes me feel worse. Dr. Bisanga said the new hair is too thin and sparse. And he wants to see me 6 months later and he told me to use oral minoxidil to help the grow. Hope it will be a little better. I felt i wasted 2000 grafts.

Ah do not blame yourself you didn’t waste the grafts, the clinic that did this disgraceful job did. Hair restoration is a mine field, the best thing you can do is make the most positive steps from here out. Since you specifically asked for help - you are doing the right things now. See an expert dermatologist (sounds like you’ve got some good advice there) and wait until the skin has fully healed. Dr Bisanga actually did my ht (search for my thread if you’re interested) so I know he’s honest, ethical and will tell you the truth of what’s possible so I would say just try to be patient and see him again when he recommended. Oral minoxidil (2.5mg) had an amazing effect for me personally, so if you research that it could be worth a try. You’ve been through a lot - things can and will get better I’m sure just take your time and make the right calm decisions going forward - all the best!

  6. Yeah fantastic thanks, was happy at 12 months (other than the above) - then this hair cycle issue resolved a couple of months later and by 18 months was even better. Not looking at needing a second ht any time soon as got a great result and 2.5mg oral minoxidil seems to have reversed and stopped any other hair loss I had for now 💯

I’m about 11 months post HT and this is what I’m experiencing now. My hairline is definitely weaker than it was 3/4 months ago. It sucks.

Your experience is that the weak area returns to previous thickness again? But I assume a different area would then drop off and get weak - assuming that 20% will always be going through that cycle

Glad someone found this useful. Yeah try not to worry, it was alarming for a couple of months - but after more time actually everything stabilises out.

Just remember for Belgian doctors you have to pay 21% VAT which usually isn't stated in the price.

With some doctors from there this is avoidable with a note from a doctor in your country via an exemption. I believe there’s a thread on it somewhere.

Best to ask each clinic from there for advice regarding it.

Quick update in terms of my initial enquiries as I’m seeing some quite long wait times

-Couto / Ferreira - both have extremely long wait times (1 year plus). I’m happy to wait 9 months. Couto’s clinic will do an initial evaluation using photos. FERREIRA has no consultations available for the rest of the year

Pinto - waiting to hear back on initial enquiry but seems to have a long wait too

De Freitas - have sent through photos and will come back to me on whether a surgery in 9 months would be feasible

Bisanga - have added him to my list given long wait times of above. They are currently looking at photos and have already provided June dates for a physical consultation.

UK surgeons seem to have better availability and:

Reddy - available for a physical consultation soon and charges £150 for this. Im happy to pay for someone’s time but wanted to check with you all, if initial consultations are mostly chargeable or not at other clinics?

farjo - they have requested pics and waiting to hear back

mittal - they will do a phone consultation before a physical one

    I do plan to travel

if needed to Mainland Europe for physical consultations, as I believe the initial assessment is in person is crucial.

    couple of questions :

in terms of surgeons in Belgium, what do people think of Feriduni and Lupanzula? Wondering if it’s worth seeing them if I end up in Belgium for a consultation anyway?

in the UK and Netherlands, what do people think of Arshad and Munib Ahmad respectively?

I know I’m starting with a wide list but I naturally expect this to get narrowed down in the next month or so naturally.

You’ve got the A team of doctors here in Europe really, which is why they’re busy 😉. For me they are a similar price but on another level to any of the UK doctors so bear that in mind and go deep into the research yourself and you’ll probably see the difference (I’m British btw).

    😭😭😭👍

Thanks for the kind comments and thanks for the help along the way 👍

I treating to read you go a boost from 12 to 18 months ! Actual growth ? Or thickening ? 👍

👌🏼 Glad to give a little encouragement  and buzzing it was such a great result!

For me comparing my 12 month to 18 month photos my hair has grown out more with more “shape” and a bit thicker. Might do a final update for that on my thread sometime actually.

  11. There he is!! Lad came back to give the fans what they wanted 🙂

Congratulations - the curly look looks cool to me as it’s not the usual. Getting the ht has been such an amazing thing to have sorted out for me as well, same here with the only regret. You may get some more growth yet, mine got quite a decent boost between 12 and 18 months 👍🏼

PS like a different man going off the before and after photo!

  12. Thought you guys were big on freedom of speech in America!

Everyone has the right to describe what happened to them and express their opinion on that.

Disgusting for the clinic to be threatening people to try and silence them speaking out. Along with what patients are posting here seems a very bad look for the clinic, would avoid this one.

I agree, nothing against an internet forum but it's a good call to speak with a HT specialist about my situation. I'm quite clueless about how consolations really work with this, get the feeling they are not free and might cost me a bit especially if I speak with multiple Dr's about it

Where do I even go for consultations, do we have a repository of contact info lying around here I can use?

It’s good you are cautious and are taking time to research. Try consultations with some of the doctors that people have recommended to you here or others you see well regarded on the forum, as if you go to a hair mill consultation it will basically just be an unethical sales person who will lie and tell you whatever you want to hear.
