I had an incredible experience with Dr Reddy and his team at his London clinic in August 2017, could not be happier with everything; hair to this day still the same even though I had to stop taking finasteride and minoxidil well over a year ago due to side affects.

Hello, do you mind elaborating on the issues you saw with fin and min? More specifically the min.

I too regret my first hair transplant. I did my research, met multiple doctors in person and chose a doctor with good track record. However, for reasons unknown, my result and yield was bad. Now I have blown off majority of my donor and stuck in a really bad situation. You can do all the precautions necessary and still end up worse!

what did your clinic end up doing to help? I believe they were trying to work on a solution with you?

  3. Hi Melvin,

that’s really cool of you to be so candid about your experience. I have to agree, the planning of your first transplant was a bit odd. But at least it looks like you had some good yield and your donor remained in decent shape. Your second surgeon def hit it out of the park with your hairline design, huge difference. Congrats

  4. I think Shera gave some great advice. Personally, I would split it into two surgeries. About 3500 for the frontal third for round 1. Then 1500-2000 for the crown during second pass. Of course your donor would need to be analyzed. The advice to try meds is also very good as you want to stabilize your loss and thicken areas that can potentially respond to treatment so you use less of your donor.

  5. yup, the previous poster nailed it IMO. In terms of results, at the minimum it would take 3 months just to start seeing a decrease in hair loss. I wouldnt evaluate its effectiveness until 1 year and if you are a responder by that point then the study averages show peak results at 2 years time.

I don't recall, but I know it was super dense packing. I can go to a zero guard.  That's because I have an insane amount of donor hair. So even after take out 3,400 grafts. I still have probably another 9,000 grafts available to pull from the back and sides of my head.

Wow! How did hasson calculate that? You’re literally set for life. Do you know what punch size was used?

  7. I understand hair transplants are an illusion by utilizing about 50% of native density to achieve a full look. However, is there a mimimum length that one must keep the hair in order to not see any differences between native areas and transplanted? What is that length roughly? Obviously very short hairstyles like a buzzcut can reveal differences but can the difference can be seen at say 1/2 an inch?

I'm a strong believer that it's not good for you regardless of whether you show obvious side effects. I'm not a fan of anything that messes with hormones. My hair loss is slow enough for me not to be too concerned. I may opt for one more procedure as a touch up but that would probably be the extent of it. If by the time I'm in my 40s and my hairloss progresses even further, I'll just accept it and carry on with my life.

It looks like your hair loss is not aggressive. Have you noticed any additional loss behind your transplanted areas?

  9. Hi ronipad

I've been on finasteride for over 10 years as I started losing hair quite young. I don't think it quite stopped my hair loss and its difficult to say where I would be without it but I have a feeling it slowed it down a decent amount. At 33 I still opted for a hair transplant as it bothered me a lot and most of my loss was focused on my hairlines and temples (NW 3).

I researched the drug quite a bit beforehand and throughout the years I've been on it. The official studies show it works (stops loss or regrows) for about 86% of patients over 5 years which is great news. A few years ago the FDA required makers of the drug to add depression as a possible side effect. This has me worried as I already suffer from anxiety. Not sure if this is a concern for many others.

It seems like your hair loss is not aggressive if you are a norwood 2-3 at 40 so I would expect it to work for many years to come. Good luck

Yeh thanks to all for your encouraging words I will keep updating i will be cutting my donor area with clippers for the first time since my transplant hopefully on Sunday I will post photos thanks again

what size clippers will you use? I am quite curious as I have had a similar number of FUE grafts with similar hair characteristics. Looking forward to your update

  11. Hello all

I suffer from general anxiety disorder. With this whole COVID issue and a few other problems in my life I've been having to depend more and more on my anxiety meds such as Xanax to get me through the day. I also sometimes need to take sleep meds such as Ambien at night. I am a little less than 2 months post op from my FUE and I'm wondering if these drugs in any way can worsen hair loss or harm my transplanted grafts?

    Thanks
