I've sent them pictures to understand their opinion. I saw a crown reconstruction on their website which was pretty good.
Hoping to hear back early next week from Ferreira and Vila.
I'm curious about shock loss as you mentioned it. Do the hairs regrow after 3 months?
-
Who's the surgeon at HLC by the way?
How is the procedure? All done by doctors or tech?

I'm scheduled with Keser in April. I'm doing about 2,000 grafts over 4 days. I selected him because of this. He's known for density with fewer grafts (other clinics quoted up to 3,500). My number one requirement is a natural hairline and Keser's hairlines are brilliant. The fact that he only does 500-700 grafts per day, does the whole procedure himself, and only one patient per day... that sold me!
For the OP, you don't need many grafts for your hairline. I'd recommend Keser and HLC (also Ankara, Turkey). But I also think you shouldn't touch your crown yet. Wait until later, save your donor area.
This is Keser's representative message:
"You will not experience shock loss with dr keser but this is also because he will not implant too close to existing thin hair. Therefore the final result will not look dense and volumed.
Another clinic may offer you a dense packing in the crown but you may experience shock loss and loose most of the existing thin hair so the final result will not be good either."
A full crown is main reason for a transplant, so Keser seems not to be able to provide that. Crowns reconstructions are more complicated apparently and many surgeons are not experienced with that.
I'm waiting for Dr. Freitas opinion as well, his work looks brilliant.

Ok Demirsoy crossed out of the list definitely.

Demirsoy's assistant said I need to be on Minoxidil before and after the transplant, because apparently it raises the chances of grafts survival. It's the first time I hear anything like that.
Anyone familiar with that?

She does have tons of great results on the Spanish forum and was Lorenzo’s medical assistant for many years (even did his HT).
I’m sure if Bruno Ferreira had more patient results online it would be easier for you to make this decision.Yeah he definitely needs to put more pictures online

@Cristero I don’t understand how you can be undecided between those two because Ximena Villa charges the same price as Bruno Ferreira (2,5€/graft) and does surgery on two patients per day.
How can you compare being able to have the Doctor focused solely on you the whole day versus a Doctor that splits her attention between two patientsBecause I really like her work.

Nice to know Demirsoy hires nurses instead of techs to implant the grafts but I still wouldn’t opt for a surgery where the doctor is not performing the whole surgery.
From your list I would save up and book Bruno Ferreira.I'm between Bruno Ferreira and Ximena Vila at the moment. The latter replied to me and I'm waiting for an opinion on my case, a quote and availability.
Bruno Ferreira still no news.
Third option would be waiting, but, as I said, I'm unhappy with my hairs situation at the moment, so, unless dermaneedling, scalp massages and hair peptides will trigger regrowth in the next months, I don't really know how waiting will help out my situation.

@Cristero there`s a reason for him to charge half.
Demirsoy does up to 4000 grafts in one day while Bruno Ferreira does a maximum of 2000 grafts (both operate on 1 patient per day).
So Demirsoy can charge half and still have his clinic make the same daily turnover as Bruno Ferreira clinic.
The reason why Dr. Bruno does a maximum 2000 grafts per day is because he does the whole surgery and implants with DHI while Demirsoy opens all the holes at once and has several low paid techs implanting the grafts (most common and most profitable practice).
Pekiner does less (1500 max per day) because he doesn`t extracted with motorized FUE and Keser does even less (max 800 grafts per day).
So by knowing the prices they all charge you can easily calculate who has the most profitable clinic but the important question is, who is getting the best results?!
Thanks for the explanation.
Demirsoy's assistant said the doctor does the extraction and incisions and the nurses fill in the incisions with the grafts. So he has been honest in that. But they are keen on having me on meds, even if some of their patients didn't take any.
Pekiner is not an option, as I followed a discussion with a patient being unsuccessful of the result, and the clinic basically blaming him. I didn't like the whole thing, really unprofessional. He's also really stubborn on the medications part.

Can I ask you guys your opinion on Demirsoy? Some of his results are impressive:

And he charges the half of the surgeons I contacted until now.

Not really understanding the 2000 graft recommendations for the crown from Dr Bisanga and Hattingen to be honest, even more so seeing as you are not on/not prepared to use meds. You're still quite young and your hairloss pattern is still developing. Crown isn't slick bald yet and good chance loss there will expand without meds. If the crown really goes on to expand a lot, it may leave you in somewhat of a difficult position in the future if you were to have a 2000 or so grafts placed in there now.
If i were in your shoes, I would probably be tempted to address the crown with concealer for now and see how things progress with loss in the area in the next few years.
Not a huge fan of 'spot treating' areas on the crown without meds and in most cases the resultant chasing after loss in that area but if it's something you really want to address it now, focus should be on a smaller procedure with the aim of improving coverage and managing expectations in line with that.
Thanks for your suggestion.
Waiting is an option definitely. Can't be on finasteride for the reason mentioned in the first post and I don't want to touch that poison anymore. I became hypogonadal and need to be on low dose HRT for the rest of my life. I could consider minoxidil as a last resort, but the skin ageing and bad under eyes bags I saw from some users were pretty bad.
So I'm a bit concerned of that as well.
-
Quick update.
Armamed estimated 2000 - 2500 grafts which is what I was expecting initially, but they want me on finasteride or minoxidil and they say the result in the crown can be sub-optimal and that is something recognised by all the surgeons in the world. Meh!
Hattingen asked me if I tried to shave my head ever and that should be tried before surgery, that should be the very last option. 🤦🏼♂️ They quoted me roughly the same as Bisanga, 1200-1500 for the front, 2000 for the crown.
I'll cross out both from my list.

Isn’t he the most popular doc in Portugal? I haven’t seen any results posted on this forum. The Spanish forums probably have his work showcased.

Anyone knows Dr Bruno Pinto?
He seems quite famous on recuperartupelo.com

DM @Rolandas he just had his procedure with him recently.
Thanks

Do you guys know how long is Bruno Ferreira's waiting list?
And any idea about pricing?
Still didn't get any answer from him by the way.

Funny. when I consulted DR.Maras 2 years ago I got the same response, he rejected me for similar reason. Seems like he tends to reject patients more than other surgeons.
Who did you go with eventually?
@Melvin-Moderator do you have any before and after of Dr. Bruno Ferreira?

@Cristero Ximena Villa has good results posted in the Spanish forum but she is doing 2 patients per day and for this reason I would chose @Dr. Bruno Ferreira instead.
Dr. Keser has amazing results but I recently discovered that his approach is old school (doesn’t use a microscope) and he doesn’t share his work or mingle with other Doctors.Do you know where I can find more pictures of his before and after?
-
Thanks everyone for your reply.
So keser said he can fill the crown, but not too dense, because he's scared of native hairs shock loss. So he said the crown won't look really full and whoever promise that is basically a liar.
I'm waiting for bruno ferreira and Ximena Vila reply and I will decide after their opinion.
I'm on a stage in which I'm thinking about my hairs all the time and I'm not happy with them. Probably waiting would be the best solution, but it requires a lot of effort of not thinking about something you see in the mirror everyday.
Eugenix told me get on finasteride, even if I told them I got destroyed by that poison.
I like the work of Bruno Ferreira as well, but he has only 3 cases on his website. Anyone knows more before/after pictures?
Thanks

I edited the initial post after being reached by Bisanga's customer service.
They did not guarantee I won't have a shock loss:
"Shockloss is unpredictable and there is no guarantee that shockloss will not occur. With an inperson consultation, Dr Bisanga can evaluate the strength of your native hairs in your crown which would influence if they were to grow back after shockloss or not."
-
I got an estimate from Keser of 500 in the front, plus 500 on the crown, with the possibility of adding more on the crown.
I don't understand why such big difference with Bisanga, that sounded a bit too aggressive in my case.
-
I'll send Feriduni an email as well. Let's see what he says.
-
Thanks for your reply:
1- FUE
2- max 8k
3- I don't like Feriduni's work. I will contact the other clinic, I don't know them.
4- I imagined that.
5 - I will check her.
6 - Bad from my mom side (uncle and grandpa bold). Good from my dad side ( grandpa with lots of hairs, my dad still have hairs at almost 80 years old).
What would be your suggestion regarding DHI Thessaloniki?
I was looking somewhere in the southern part of Europe if possible, since I'm going there. So basically Spain, Portugal, Greece etc.
-
Hi everyone,
I've been lurking on the forum for a while and did my research on HT and surgeons.
I'm in New York City, but I will be travelling to Europe in June and this is where I would like to have the surgery done.
I've sent pictures for online assessments to many top surgeons, but I was shocked realising the opinions were diametrically opposed in some cases.
So, until now these are the ones I've contacted and their opinions. I need your help because I'm more confused than before:
Dr. MARAS: won't do neither crown or hairline. Crown has too many hairs, hairline would look weird with only the temples done he said.
Dr. BISANGA: went pretty aggressive with a quote of 2300 grafts in the crown, 1000 on the hairline.
Eugenix India: said my hairs were good and dense. No need for a transplant.
DHI Thessaloniki: said they would do 400-700 grafts on the crown, because there are still a lot of hairs, and reconstruct the hairline.
Dr. Couto: no open online assessment at the moment and with a price tag of 5 euro per grafts is a bit too expensive.
Dr. Demirsoy: waiting for a quote.
Dr. Keser: waiting for an answer.
Dr. Bruno Ferreira: waiting for an answer.
Dr. De Freitas: waiting for an answer.
A bit of a background. I'm 32 years old, 33 in October. Been on finasteride for 7 years, stopped because it destroyed my health.
Current regimen is dermaneedling, scalp massages, deciem hair serum. I'm at the stage on thinking about my hairs everyday and getting concerned people will see my balding crown, so I would like to have the transplant done, but I'm scared of a bad outcome and to lose more hairs, due to shock loss.
Call me mad, but I like DHI results that they have on their website, along with their videos. Looks really natural. They told me the clinic in Thessaloniki is their best and the doctors are really good. The price is really appealing as well. But I've read the reviews aren't really good, are they?
I'm looking for a doctor doing most of the surgery, not a cattle farm in Turkey like Erdogan or Cinik. Someone really good reconstructing the crown.
Other surgeons suggestions are welcome. My pictures attached at the bottom of the page. Thanks.

There are a couple of results from HLCin the Italian forum that are suboptimal to say the least:
