    Hello,

I am currently 27 and started noticing my hair thin when I was about 23-24. I have very thick hair and was experiencing pattern baldness. No specific spot, just thinning all around. It wasn't that visible because my hair is curly, but it started to get really bad so I went on hims version of Finasteride 1 mg January of 2020 with the use of generic foam minoxinal every morning and night and have since continued. I noticed regrowth in my hair rapidly. By rapid I noticed thickening in about 2 weeks to a month and noticed a gradual improvement and just straight consistent growth. I would argue a year in, my hair was the thickest it's ever been.

I have been on the hims Finasteride and generic minoxidil foam for 18 months and literally out of no where about two weeks ago I noticed my hair starting to shed rapidly. Every time I shower I see a bunch of hairs in my hand, in addition to seeing hairs fall out almost every time I touch my head It also is pretty itchy. The color of it is also getting lighter (which was also from being in the sun excessively this summer.) I would say the past two weeks have been a 40% decline in my overall hair and the shedding is only getting worse and it is really itching.. It is truly so bizarre and I can't put my finger on what is happening. I know that propecia effectiveness does decline over time, but this is so rapid that it's almost as if I stopped taking it. That also makes no sense because I had such positive results from it so quickly.

    My theories.

    1. After a year of getting new refills of the Hims brand Finasteride they emailed me to renew and offered me a year supply of it in one container of 360 pills and I did it. I even thought at the time this may not be the greatest idea because pills wear off/ loss effectiveness if they are bought in a large quantity. In addition to that I have not been on the Hims site since I started and the minute I noticed this decline I went on and bought into their biotin gummies and shampoo. It could be a marketing tactic from brands like hims to give pills that gradually decline after several months so you go on and buy into their other stuff. (I mean this worked because I bought into more products.) (Would anyone suggest getting actual Finasteride from a dr and not from a brand like Hims?

    2. It could be seasonal shedding/ from being in the sun excessively this summer. This doesn't seem that likely, but it is totally possible. I also have sensitive skin and may have irritated my scalp from being in the sun so excessively.

    3. My body may have just become immune to the finasteride and it built up in my system so it can't produce the same results.

Regardless, it is very concerning and upsetting to experience this so rapidly after such positive results. If anyone has any advice or knowledge on this that would be greatly appreciated.

Could be many reasons, maybe try dutasteride as that's what many people move to if finasteride loses effectiveness

  2. I have been on finasteride since May 2019, so over 2 years now, along with minoxidil. I have always noticed minor shedding when washing hair ect.

Just over a week ago I added microneedling and have changed the area where I am applying minoxidil as advised to me by belgravia center. However when I washed my hair today I notice more hairs in my hand and longer hairs in my hand which is not the norm for me.

I've suffered from hairloss since I was 16, and had a complete receded hairline by around 18 years old. Perhaps this means my hairloss is agressive? I am happy to keep what I have at the moment and maybe I'd be better off switching completely to dutasteride as this affected me from a young age.

Any advice or feedback would be very appreciated.  Thankyou

That's a lot of money to pay for a few photos, but hey, your choice....the good thing is that it's all legit.

I had 12.5% cream with azaelic acid, never managed to get it anywhere else but rogaine foam 5% worked just as well. I am now on a solution of 7% liquid minoxidil and 1.5mg finasteride that has caffeine, retinol and other things in it that I forget now.

1mm for the roller although i haven't done it in ages...keep meaning to! it was working really well.

Where do you get that solution from please

I like the check ups though, definitely stabilised the hair loss from my visits there and that's all I'm after and any further growth is a bonus. Bus as they put it, I have paused my hairloss so long as I keep up the treatment.

Noticed your using a derma roller. What mm are you using and when do you apply it mate ?

Also did you manage to find 10% minox elsewhere?

I am a former Belgravia patient. They helped me stabilise and regrow some hair for 2 years before I took the advice on here to get the same products much cheaper elsewhere.

They are great for giving newbies the right advice and treatments....but they also charge those ridiculous London prices.

I was paying £1,200 - £1,400 a year with Belgravia and got that down to £300-£400 for the same stuff with the same results.

Hard to tell what change there has been due to differing hair lengths.  That said, I think it has improved.

Any protocol with DUT is the gold standard to be honest.

Belgravia a bit pricey long term.  Personally I'd drop the 10% Min and stick with the FIN/DUT.  You could probably get it cheaper elsewhere like Oxford Online Pharmacy

Hair does seem alot darker and can see the middle parting is narrowing in pictures. I kinda like the check ups that's why I don't mind paying the extra and they have had alot of success.

What's your regime mate? You on fin or dut?

You have come a long way since those pics in 2019. Your current med regime should help retain and yes even help thicken your hair. However if you want to really boost it then another ht may be considered.

Tbh I'm happy to keep what i have and if this regime is what will keep that for me I'll stick with it.

Is it worth adding topical dut or fluridil??
