  1. Magoo, Thanks for the reply. I can buzz it down to about a #3 clipper without the scar showing up too much. Why do you suggest that? Does a buzzed look minimize the look of a transplant? The repair work you talk about, is it surgery or laser? Thanks
  2. I had 400 1-3 hair grafts to the frontal zone behind the hairline. As my hairloss progresses, how tough would it be to laser these out and still have a normal looking (receding) hairline. Are there specialists who could do this? I have black hair. Could I laser them as my hair recedes, progressively? Any help would be appreciated.

  4. Sorry so long to reply. He did strongly recommend propecia, but did not demand I use it. Obviously, the decision is ultimately up to you. I have been on it for almost 3 months with absolutely no side effects. I am 27. If anything, my libido has increased!
  5. I had scar repair with Dr. Cooley last month. Very professional and upfront. He is a straight shooter. He also practices what he preaches, as he has had work done and is on a regimen of propecia and rogaine. He conducts important research on many hair restoration issues and seems to be a very intelligent, talented individual. Sorry to sound like an infomercial for the guy, but my experience with him was very positive. Good luck.
  6. To my first post on this topic. (hair growth)
  7. You say hair growth is rapid. Do you mean in the recipient area? Aren't these grafts supposed to fall off and rest for a certain amount of time? What do you think is the amount of time neccesary to wait to have more grafts placed in your scar if needed? A year?
  8. I would highly recommend Dr. Cooley. He is very well respected and is known for his research in the hair loss community. He mainly does strip, but does some fue for minor work, i.e. scars, touch ups, etc. He may not lower your hairline though, depending on your age and situation. He is also known for prescribing meds before getting a transplant, which is always a good idea. He has had work himself and is on propecia; so he practices what he preaches. Seems like a really intelligent nice guy. Hopefully I get great results from my fue, so I can have more done later.
  9. Yes, he said it would break up the scar nicely. Only 100 for now because he did not want to exhaust the blood supply and have some fail, which would be a waste of money. I will look at the results and have more done in the future. My scar is not ear to ear, and not all that wide. The procedure is time consuming but quite painless and much less invasive than strip. I think for situations like mine (scar) fue is very appropriate.
  10. I am 3 days post op. with 100 fue's in my scar. Everything went well, and I am very pleased so far with Dr. Cooley in Charlotte. Very professional and skilled. One question for the vets on this forum. How fragile are the newly placed grafts? Can they come out very easy, say if I accidentally sleep on that side of my head? If touched the area gently can they come out? I'm sure the doctor went over this, but I asked so many questions, I must have had information overload. Thanks

  12. 100 fues to break up scar. (scar has been micropigmented and is one yaer old. Dr. Cooley to do the work. This pic was right after tattoo and is still healing. Hair was cut with a 1 to a 2 buzzer.
  13. Will be having fue repair on my strip scar Friday with Dr. Cooley in Charlotte. Not a terribly bad scar, but I like to keep my hair short (2 or 3 buzzer, 1 if it was possible) I will be adding 100 grafts to the scar to "break up" the look a little. See where I can go from there. The scar is 1 year old. I have also done some micropigmentation, which helped camouflage it some, but there is still an obvious difference in texture. This pic was taken 2 days after micropigmentation/tattooing, so some areas are still darker than when they healed. Let's hope we can hide this better! Scar is only on the one side of my head.

  15. How well does fue work on scars? I have a linear scar and am scheduled this week to have some fue's put into it. The doc says it will "break up" the scar. What do you think people mean by broken up? The scar is not all that bad, but I like to keep my hair short. Is Fue easier to go through than strip?

  17. Can elecrolosis be done on specific hairs? If I only want to remove certain hairs as they become exposed, say in the temple areas; can they eliminate indivdual or particular hairs? I only had work done on the recession areas. Only 400 grafts total. How many times did you have to go? By the way, how does your scar look now. Could you cut your hair shorter now that you had succesful fue's?
  18. how do you know if you have scarring. I can't see any, but have hair in the area. Would I be able to tell if I had pitting or scarring? Is scarring more likely for those with plugs(larger groups of hair)? Mine are 1's 2's and some 3's. Do not see or feel any scars.
  19. Has anyone used electrolosis or laser to remove 1-3 hair micrografts? Can the 3 hair grafts be lasered into 1 hair grafts? Had 200 micro's put into each of the temples last year. Worried about future as I don't want to have any more work done. On propecia for 2 weeks, but don't know if it will work or if side effects will occur.

  21. Can a tiny dab of couvre harm hair growth? (New hair growth from propecia or natural existing growth) Started using a very little bit on my right high temple, which works really well, but worried about effects on scalp. Anyone?

  23. Dr. Cooley only does fue for certain situations. (like breaking up a scar or some minor hairline work) For large areas he only does strip. My scar is on the side above my ear. It is 6 inches long but only about 1/8 " wide. It is however very noticeable as I clip my hair with a #2 buzzer. Do you guys know if 2 and 3 hair micro grafts can be lasered out to make just one? If they are all taken out (via electrolosis or otherwise) would they scar? Had 400 micrografts with Bosley last year in the temporal areas. (MISTAKE!) Severely concerned with the future as Hair loss progresses. Just started taking propecia last week. Do you think 1, 2, and 3 hair grafts will look horrible when exposed? Doesn't look bad now but still have decent head of natural hair. Any options?
  24. What is it? Is it neccesary for fue? Doing Fue with Dr. Cooley in Charlotte next month to break up scar. As far as I know he doesn't use the fox test. Can fue's do a good job of breaking up a relatively thin scar? (like to keep hair short)
