Honestly it's the beginning. The grafted hairs are only just beginning to grow after a dormant period so waiting for spectacular results right now might only make you frustrated. It should be in the next 2-3 months that you should some indication of whats going to happen. At least that is my experience. Hope that helps

    yes helps a lot thanks

Agree with everyone, your hair looks good to me at 5 months.

as Melvin, one of the moderators here, once told me that kind of hair clogs together and it seems thin.

my hair is also kinda wavy and i (without meds) didn't look so good at 5 months, i believe in the 3-4 months coming you will see the difference. the most important thing now is to stay calm and just let the time to go by.

can you post some pre-op picture?

the hair line is ok, the midscalp and crown are horrible

I know it sucks but patience is the only advice anyone can really offer at this stage.

Do you know when you started shedding hairs after the surgery?

Hair type I'd agree - your hair is very wavy and thick. But "spectacular results"at only 5 months is the exception, not the rule IMO

I started shedding hair immediately after surgery. I don't seem to be shedding much anymore

any pre surgery vs current pics?

5 months is only the beginning. Seriously. You've only just come into the 1st growth cycle. This is when you will start noticing changes and even then those changes might only be small. Im at 8 months myself and the majority of my growth happened between the 7th-8th month.

Im guessing you've had around 4000 grafts surgery?

4000 grafts and my doctor said it was basically all 3s and 4s.

you can see how incredibly thick, coarse and wavy my hair is. I was expecting spectacular results

  5. still not seeing much of anything. I think my hairline is a little better but crown and midscalp still looks about the same. I had a huge amount of hairs transplanted (12-13,000) and my hair is incredibly thick/coarse AND wavy. Every surgery I see on people with my hair type results in spectacular results (I have hair similar to Indians). I'm a NW3V with very high sides.

What would you guys do if you were me?  Is it normal for growth to start at 5 month mark?

I stumbled upon this gentleman on YouTube. This is actually shocking, there’s not enough donor hair to even recreate a hairline. Individuals with this level of hair loss can either do SMP which I would probably opt for or a hair system. I don’t know if medications would even work for this level of hair loss.

End of June means you're only just coming into 5 months, so the new hairs might only just be beginning to emerge.

I'm an absolute noob with this stuff, but my current understanding is the hairs go through a telogen stage of hair growth after a HT (basically a dormant stage), and stay that way for 3-4 months.

So say you don't shed any hairs for the first month, then go through this dormant phase of 3-4 months = that's potentially 5 months before the transplanted hairs even begin to grow at all. And that's before you can even see them grow at any noticeable length.

It may also take 2 cycles of hair growth to really begin to notice things as the hair matures with another growth cycle. The most growth I noticed happened between 7 and 8 months and I have really wavy hair as well, but it's always going to be different for each person. Some people take 12 months. Some have amazing results at 5 months. Some rare cases don't shed any hair at all.

Best to ask your doctor though. Hope that helps (and if I've got anything wrong someone please correct me)

    ok thanks for encouragement

did you have very drastic results?

  8. my friend's dad is 50 and he literally has a wreath of hair that's like an inch long on the sides and his crown is even further dipped. I would legitimately say 90% of his head is totally bald

We should almost call that a Norwood 8

I would say this man has a lot less hair than even Steve Ballmer. Probably a good inch lower on the sides

  9. If I had a surgery at very end of June, does that mean the current month is 5th month or 4th month? technically end of this month would make it exactly  5 months and I'm just not seeing anything. I was told by my doctor (Mr Richard Keller ) to expect possibly the most drastic results of all time due to my wavy, coarse, super thick hair, supreme donor density and the large amount of grafts (nearly 4000). I was told almost all my grafts were 3s and 4s

For you guys who have had surgery done, what month did you start to see drastic results?

  10. the reason most indian hair transplants look excellent is because most indian men have very thick, dense hair

A halfway decent surgeon working on an indian man will get better results than the best surgeon in the world working on white client with thin/fine hair. So yes, if you can go to any decent reputable surgeon in India and you're the typical Indian male with very thick, coarse, dense hair, you will get fantastic results

Several things, the strategic placement of the grafts, the patients hair thickness and hair style all add to the “illusion if density”.

When an excellent surgeon such as Dr. Diep executes his plan perfectly, this is the result. However, Chris is also doing very well at combing his hair in a way that provides the most visual density.

In the end, this is one of the most impressive results I've ever seen and I’m truly happy for Chris.

actually looking at it again, I realized what it is

He has a narrow area of balding. His sides are very high and his head surface is fairly small. I think he also has tremendous thickness/coarseness and donor density like most asian men do. That plus obvious surgeon skill - the hairline is especially excellent

Most indian/asian transplants look fantastic as long as the gentleman is not a norwood 7 because of the hair traits. anything in the NW3-5 range looks spectacular most of the time

Why don't you post pics of yourself rather than people "similar" to you. Hunting the web for other people's pics rather than taking one with your own phone takes more time, don't ya think?

You should be glad you were allowed again on this forum :(

I just did - post above yours

I have identical hair to indian people even though I'm Armenian

  13. OP do you have fine hair? If you have fine hair, keep in mind 3000 grafts really isn't much in terms of coverage unfortunately, especially in crown area. I know we harp on surgeon skill a lot around here but hair traits are probably the #1 aspect to getting a good transplant

I'm also a little confused because the pics he posted show a significant difference overall, but your pics are much less impressive. Why do you think this is?
