Actually, I think H & W are about average when it comes to money in this area. Dr. Konior is what i would consider extremly expensive, but based on his results, probably worth it .

I’ll agree. You will get what you pay for, and this is not something I’d skimp on. You only get to use your donor area once, and having a great surgeon would be a way to help to stack the odds of a successful transplant in your favor. For me, I’m going to go with a surgeon that is good at strip and FUE, mainly because I’ve heard you can get better density from strip first.

  2. I have heard that as well, though Dr. Konior does excellent work.  I know he does the surgical part of the procedure and placing too. Another one I’ve heard that also does the same is Dr. Gabel in Portland(I think he trained or learned from Dr. K), they both seem to have consistently excellent results and reviews. I know when I have mine done in a few years it’ll be one who is ISHRS certified.. heard too many horror stories about HT gone wrong to take a chance!

I’ll see if I can get more info for you. I had PRP with Acell done about 10 days ago. I had a terrible allergic reaction about 48 hours post injections. My doc says he’s seen one other patient that was actually allergic to Acell. With that in mind I go to see him this Thursday and will ask these exact questions. Going to see if the PRP is still recommended without it. I’ll let you know what he says.

I don’t believe though the addition of Acell should be cost prohibitive if it is effective.

Have the symptoms gone away? How did you deal with that? Benadryl or other antihistamine possibly? Thank you sir! Hopefully it goes well for you!

  4. Has anyone had PRP without Acell in the crown area? My crown is thinning and have heard PRP can really help in slowing or stopping the hair loss. Just wondering who’s had it and what your experience was? I’ve also heard doing it with Acell is better to, but it’s more expensive too.

  5. Looks great so far! How is it healing and holding up without using any meds? The long term meds(Finasteride & Minoxidil) can help with ensuring you won’t lose more hairs in the future.

You can bolster it with PRP with Acell and Low-Level laser therapy too, for non medical/non surgical options!

  6. Looks great so far! A big improvement wouldn’t you say? I’ve seen great results with PRP but I have noticed that they seem much better if the procedure includes ACELL. The results seem to trigger an increase in blood vessel formation which I have heard can activate and stimulate inactive hair follicles. I’ve also heard it’s not THAT painful, but haven’t had it done yet myself. I’ve also heard that the Eclipse system is very good too.

  7. Hi guys,

I’m considering a hair transplant, as I am receding considerably in the frontal hairline and ever more in my crown area. I first noticed my thin crown area on top of my head at my wedding pics from 9 years ago, and things have only increased. If I have one done now, won’t I have to have it done again in a few years as I age? I’m 37 now, and I only want to do this once if possible. Who would you recommend? I’m considering going to Turkey as the price seems much better than here in the US, even with travel.. I’ve heard good things about Erdogan?

thank you. i appreciate it. i do not have any side effects. i don’t think i will do a laser cap/comb, however I will look into PRP.

One question to the forum: Is all PRP essentially the same? are there doctors that are better than others when administering the PRP treatment? i don’t think so based off my research. it seems pretty straight forward. What is a good price? $1500 for 3 sessions is what i’ve been seeing

I will be posting monthly updates until 12 months. i hope i see even more results in my mid scalp and hairline. I do think the crown is as good as it’s gonna get but you never know

I’ve heard from several doctors that doing PRP without the ACELL is basically pointless as it won’t give you the results as quickly, or be effective.

    • PRP without Acell - 2-3 treatments to see any hair growth.
    • PRP without Acell - needs to be repeated every 4-6 months to maintain results.
    • PRP without Acell - hair growth results are variable.
    • ACell combined with PRP is more expensive but at the same time more effective, with more consistent results, longer lasting much longer than PRP alone.
    • ACell + PRP injection therapy for hair loss is a more technically sophisticated and clinically demanding process than PRP injection alone.

ACell + PRP- 2 treatments 8 wks apart for higher effectiveness of hair growth for individuals with more advanced hair loss. Those with early or minimal hair loss may get the desired results after a single treatment.
