  1. So... to keep this short and sweet I'll give you all a quick overview.

I'm 24 years old and pretty much NW6/7 with a pretty poor donor. I've been rocking a shaved head and beard for the 2 years now and I'm pretty happy with my look tbh.

However, I came across a video on the Eugenix youtube channel recently of where a man got a beard transplant and it looked pretty cool! I now want to raise my beard and make it a little thicker. I was wondering one of two things:

    • How many grafts do you guys think I need to raise my beard to the line I've drawn?
    • Roughly how many grafts would I need?
    • Can the hairs be taken from the back of my head? (I'm not too bothered about a little bit of scarring provided that its not too bad)

All I really want is to remove my SMP and have a killer beard at this point, the SMP really helped me acclimatise to baldness and I'm now ready to go full Dwayne Johnson.

    Thanks in Advance Gents!

  2. Hi Guys,

I'll be really clear to help build a picture for you all. I'm a diffuse thinner and wish to have a HT to compliment my SMP and hopefully be able to rock a 0.5 buzz. My donor isn't great however I do have a pretty good beard and chest hair. I'm hoping for roughly 6000 - 7000 grafts from a combination of beard, chest, and scalp which I will always keep very short. I was scheduled to visit Eugenix and was wondering if:

    1. if what I wish is viable
    2. what clinic is the best for a combination of beard, chest and scalp hair.

To be clear, all I really wish for is coverage. I understand that the hair will look really weird if grown out however as the hair will never really grow much longer than 0.5mm if not shorter this doesn't concern me. Please see attached some photos of my current situation. I've had a 2 week break from work so I have grown out my hair which will usually be either shaven or trimmed really low.

  3. I have a consultation with Dr Sethi from Eugenix in London tomorrow and I guess I just wanted some more opinions before I get his. I have attached some photos below of my donor area so please feel free to let me know what you think and how much grafts I can expect to harvest. I have also attached a photo from 2 years ago of my donor area just so you can see my hair type. Btw I am a diffuse sufferer and have lost pretty much 85% of my on top but my back and sides have remained.IMG_0289.thumb.JPG.6d301d3ffc88f0b0d5d5b884dff78468.JPG

  4. I'm a young diffuse thinner not currently on any medication as I had a very bad reaction from fin and dus separately. Currently, Im happy to trim my hair all the way down to a 0.1 and have some temp SMP done but was thinking if a HT would be possible in the future. Let me know your thoughts guys and as I said earlier I had a bad experience with the meds so please so "get on the fin ASAP" comments.  The pictures are from last week before a hair cut, this is the longest I've grown out my donor area in a very long time. Interested on your thoughts on my donor area so drop some knowledge guys. IMG_1550-1.thumb.jpg.779599b95502643f0fb1c71233e0d1f5.jpg??

  5. Being honest and realistic OP, no one on this forum is going to tell you you had a bad head shape or that you'd look bad as a bald man because they don't want to be mean and its a bit of a safe space for better or worse. If you want honest opinions on baldness go to hairlosstalk.

That SMP result looks like the guy is diseased, it does not look natural and the ink doesn't match the hair colour. I would strongly suggest you ask your friends who you can trust to be honest look at that result and ask if they think it looks natural, also look at some in real life if possible. Being excited about solving a problem can cloud your mind and give you poor judgement, so exercise extreme caution and look for negative opinions, not just positive advertisements. It's not a magic bullet.

It's not "head shape" that matters either, it's your facial features and whether they are attractive and striking enough that the lack of hair will still leave them appealing. Also the balance of masculine and feminine in your facial features and skin.

If you don't feel its impacting your dating life, making you sad or giving you image related issues etc then go for it, but studies and almost every woman I have talked to (and I look like I have a full head of hair so they're open about it) say that balding will age you 5-10 years and drop you 1-3 points of attractiveness. Again, this is backed up by legitimate research data whether anyone cares to admit it. You WILL be less attractive and look older as a bald man.

My opinion is that you should opt for hairloss treatment such as 1mg of finasteride which is a pill and nizoral 2% a shampoo twice a week. Realistically balding will impact you very negatively in terms of your dating options along with ageing you significantly, making you less attractive and less respected by coworkers. The fact that people view bald people as less successful is also documented by legitimate data.

The conclusions of this lit review are utterly absurd, but all the negatives of balding are referenced in the data itself and the various listed studies and their individual conclusions.

I appreciate your response as your trying to help, but I've been told before I have a good head shape for balding before, and I have fairly defined features so feel its worth a go. As for the fin suggestion, it is simply something I am not willing to risk as the side effects do not outweigh the positives. This is hopefully temporary, as in a few years I want to try a HT but for now I want to try something which could liberate me from constant worrying. Also, judging someones success by the amount of hair they have is bullshit LOL and so is the amount of respect your shown as a result of your hair count.

  6. A quick backdrop... I'm 21 and a diffuse thinner. Not willing to take propecia/finasteride etc and only on minoxidil atm. I'm losing my hair very fast and don't want to use concealers therefore, I'm going to buzz it down and get SMP. Now, the reason your all here...

Do I have a good head shape for buzzing down and getting SMP? Yes or No...

I'm actually quite excited about doing this as I can tell its gonna be liberating. No more stressing about whether my thinning is showing etc, plus I've been hitting the gym recently and have packed on some muscle, gonna get rid of some fat around the face and hopefully frame my face. I'll leave my pic below and a pic of the look I'm going for.

  7. I am contemplating having SMP done, and as my hairline is still intact and I have quite a bit of hair left was wondering if I had a buzz cut to a 0.5 guard or lower could I pull off SMP with a very short cut. I'll post some pics of my head so you have an idea of my hair.

p.s. I've been going gym for a few months and have beefed up a bit and ready to take this head on LOL :D

EDIT: I'll rock this style with a beard for a couple years whilst I wait for my hairless to stabilise, I will then reassess my HT options.

  8. Bej520,

You still have a lot of hair. In my opinion, consider finasteride and Rogaine foam to save the existing hair you have. Then you won't need SMP or a hair transplant. At 21, why start considering SMP when you will have to go back every couple years and keep getting more and more work done just to keep a shaved head appearance. If you can save your hair, it will be much easier (and cheaper) to maintain. And it will be actual hair.

That's what I would do if I were you.

    Best wishes,

    Bill

Thanks man but I think I'll live easier and happier accepting the baldness, I think ill reach norwood 6 in a couple years and my hairless will stabilise after losing most the hair theres nothing else to lose, then ill do a HT with my donor area. My father still has his donor area and he's almost 60 so I'm pretty sure that ill have mine too. Anyway I plan to build around my look, I'm young so a good body and a good beard with the buzz cut will look good. Not everyone is meant to have luscious swaying hair LOL

Thanks for the reply, one reason for not taking finasteride is that i don't want to be doing this for the rest of my life. I know that is difficult to understand for a lot of the people here, but I don't want to wake up every morning to take a pill which could potentially have side effects which no man deserves. I will wait for my hair loss to stabilise whilst maintaining minoxidil and then consider a HT a few years on.

  10. I am 21 years old and have diffuse thinning, so... as I am too young for a HT this summer I am going to trim my hair down to 0.5 guard and have temporary SMP done as well. I am in good shape as I workout and feel I could pull off a shaved look with a nice thick beard and a ripped body. I've been told I have a good head shape for the look (LOL) and as I have a bit of hair left trimming it down and adding SMP would make it look quite natural. I will leave pics of my hair and welcome any suggestions.

Also I have uploaded a picture of my donor area, can someone advise on whether it looks healthy and will be able to support a HT in a couple years?

    Thanks :D
