  1. I had my third operation in April (1200 grafts in my crown with Dr Reddy):

    http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/186690-6000-fue-grafts-3000-dr-de-reys-2013;-1800-dr-de-reys-2014;-1200-dr-reddy-2017-a.html

I have noticed that my front (transplanted hair from HT1, HT2, and native hair) is slightly thinner than it was before my operation.

I experienced shock loss after my first HT and it is different to that, it is just thinner.

Does anyone know why this would happen and how long will it take for my hair to return to normal?

  2. You could also try Dr Reddy. He's a recommended surgeon on here, and if you go to his Selston Clinic, it much more reasonable than his Harley Street Clinic. I paid ?5000 for 1200 grafts:

I am still waiting for the results, but the care I received that day was excellent and he has lots of photos of his work on his website.

Might be worth having a look. Also, he uses the same team at Selston as he does at his Harley Street Clinic. So the service is the same!

  3. Great results with relatively few grafts. I'm glad you're pleased. Looks like you have lots of donor options down the road if you need them. Sorry to hear about Dr. De Reys issues with the person scamming his patients. Hope he was able to find a way to make it up to those taken advantage of...without his knowledge. Happy growing. Take care of those new grafts.

I can't speak for others, but with me, he just refunded me the difference (between the number of grafts I paid for and the number of grafts I receive), so I presume this was his normal protocol and none of his patients will have been affected. He's a very decent and fair man.

I do feel a bit bad for him, because he probably has no control over his old website.

  4. This has been previously posted- but we performed an FUE procedure into a large scar from a previous MRSA infection. 100 grafts were placed with implanter pens in a test case, and at 6 months we re-evalauted with a hair count. Out of the 100 grafts placed, 99 were actively growing at 6 months- into scar tissue. So while there maybe physical forces placed on the grafts during extraction, they have little impact on graft survival. We went to graft an additional 2500 FUE grafts into the scarring area. Here are the close-up photos of the test case and before and afters 6 months from the 2500 graft case.

I know I am just a layperson, but is this not game, set, and match to Dr Vories?

It will be interesting to see results of the Shapiro study, although they reported that early results indicated that FUE and FUT yielded the same results. I would take 99 grafts out of 100 all day long....great work Dr Vories!

  5. This is interesting - the other week someone posted on here saying they were told that Dr De Reys no longer performs on UK patients, and that he is just focusing on Belgium patients. I thought that was strange, given he treated me in the past.

Is Nick no longer representing him? On my second operation Nick over quoted and did so when I was due to have my third operation (I got ill, so did not attend). I paid the deposit for 2200 grafts, which meant staying over three nights, but when I had personal correspondence with the doctor, he said 1500 would be more realistic. I was quite annoyed with Nick, because I double checked and asked him to verify this with Dr De Reys before paying my deposit.

Looking forward to seeing your final results. 200 grafts should do the trick!

I wonder if the person running his old website recommends Dr Villnow, because they were both represented by the same people before.

  6. I wanted to see Dr De Reys for my first hair transplant but I have been told he is now focusing on his patients from Belgium. I am from the UK. My questions are as follows:

    - Who else does manual FUE in Europe?

    - I was quoted 6500 Euros for 2500 grafts. Who else is in this price bracket?

Did he tell you himself? I am from the UK and was due to have my third operation with him last year, but came down with a bug that I caught off my son, so could not go. He does have a different website to the site he used a few years ago, which is available in different languages (including English), so this would seem strange. I would contact him, if you have not already done so.

  7. Have you considered Dr Reddy?

I had an operation with him at Selston:

    http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.co...dy-2017-a.html

I opted for Selston Cosmetic Clinic, because it is cheaper that than the Private Clinic - I paid ?5k for 1200 grafts. It is a GP surgery during the week, so is no thrills, but Dr Reddy only operates on one person a day there and uses the same surgical team. For me, it was a no brainer, because it was closer to my house too.

Might be worth checking out. He's also a recommended surgeon on here.

  8. At this point though, of course you're still waiting on your last surgery results but wouldn't it be fair to say that you achieved your goals you had with hair restoration surgery, and that your donor is still cosmetically strong after 6000 grafts?

If you had the option of an extra 5-10% growth would you go back and choose FUT? De Reys is also significantly cheaper than any competent FUT surgeon, so you would have spent more if you went FUT.

Even with the knowledge of the benefits of FUT, would you want a big strip cut out the back of your head? As we see more and more cases like yours of FUE moving int 6-7-8000 grafts and achieving full coverage the question is whether FUT is NECESSARY for the average patient to achieve good results in the long term.

I guess if it would only be a 5-10% difference in outcome, then I would stick with FUE and not change my mind, because the thought having a strip removed and the resultant scar was always a worry.

  9. When I first read Dr Feller's claim about the fear of surgery with an FUT operation, I completely dismissed it out of hand. At the time of my first operation I was a semi-professional rugby union player, so an FUT at that time would have been out of the question, because I only had short time to have the operation, before resuming pre-season training.

In hindsight, I think that might have been an excuse, and I must admit that the thought of an FUE was much less frightening than the FUT method. I've had 6000 grafts spread over 3 FUE operations (and 5 days in 2013, 2014, and 2017):

    http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/186690-6000-fue-grafts-3000-dr-de-reys-2013;-1800-dr-de-reys-2014;-1200-dr-reddy-2017-a.html

I wonder how different my results would have been had I opted for an FUT. That said, I am happy with my results so far, and am awaiting the results of my third FUE. But I can't help wondering (a) the difference between the two methods and (b) whether I would have had the bottle to have an FUT if FUE was not available. I am not sure about that!

Interestingly, I asked Dr Reddy about his yield, and he said it was around 85%, although that seemed to decrease with older people (mid-40s).

  10. Yeah, I went to Dr. Reddys Private Clinic in Birmingham initially where I had a consultation with another surgeon there.

They were quoting me prices 'per hair' rather than follicle and as it came to roughly the same price I opted to also go and see Dr. Shahmala based on the high profile cases he had dealt with.

Dr Reddy works for the Private Clinic, and it is not his practice. I had surgery with him at the Selston Cosmetic Clinic, and paid ?5k for 1200 grafts:

    http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/186690-6000-fue-grafts-3000-dr-de-reys-2013;-1800-dr-de-reys-2014;-1200-dr-reddy-2017-a.html

In my opinion, his work is far superior to Dr Shamalak.

  11. JeanLucBergman,

I'm not actually considering a HT at this time. I just want to get some advice on the best course of action for my current degree of loss, and ask questions about finestride and minoxidil.

Does anyone know where Dr Reddy is based? Is he based at Restore or The Private Clinic?

Dr Reddy is based at the Private Clinic on Harley Street, but also has practice at Selston Cosmetic Clinic, where he operates on the weekends. Restore is the name of his website.

I had an operation at Selston:

    http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/186690-6000-fue-grafts-3000-dr-de-reys-2013;-1800-dr-de-reys-2014;-1200-dr-reddy-2017-a.html

  12. Just got hold of him, luckily I got a date for this summer at exactly 1 year after my last surgery. He reckons about 300-400 shoukd be enough to fix the density issue, does that sound about right?

I think your hair looked thicker than mine after my first transplant. I actually had 1750 in my first HT and then 900 the second time at the front of my head. I guess Dr De Reys will know more when he sees you in person, and there would be scope for more if you need it, because he can transplant up to 1500 per day. I am really happy with the front, and when I grown it long, I can flick it back and it makes my hair look quite thick.

At least you will only need a one day op. I really struggled with the pain on the second day of my operation. I will be really interested to see whether you think it hurts more on your second HT.

Really looking forward to seeing your 12 month results and the results of the extra grafts!

All the best for your next op!!

  13. I wonder how much protection transplanted hair provides, because it is not as think as native hair and is not as think.

I always wear a hat and shades in the sun - what's the point of having a full head of hair if you have the skin of a much older person? :-)
