  1. Hey, I recently had hair transplant surgery but the consultant noticed I had a lot of dandruff before going into the surgery, he told me the reason I have dandruff (even though I wash my hair every day) is because I don't rub my scalp. (I lose a lot of hair if I rub my scalp) Anyway before the hair transplant I washed my hair very, very, very vigorously with Head and Shoulders to make sure all of the dandruff was washed away before the hair transplant. But as I dried my hair I noticed I had lost A LOT of hair during the time I washed my hair, in fact I had lost so much that the sink was blocked because of the amount of the hair stuck in the drain. The amount of hair I lost was a small handfuls worth, this really concerned me. My question is this: Will the hair I lost during the vigorous washing process ever come back? Or is the hair I lost most likely affected by DHT and would have fallen out sooner or later? Thanks
  2. Stormhold, I have just HT surgery carried out by Dr Humayun last Friday, I am 26 years of age and suffering from NW5 hairloss. I had about 2500 grafts implanted to thicken up my existing hairline and the middle section of my head. The Dr would not bring down my hairline because my age + hairloss type and he only provided me with density of 30 hairs per sq cm, which I wasn't happy with but understood the reasons for this.(Age + hairloss type) I am currently in the process of putting together a detailed review of my surgery with Dr Humayun please find a link below. I hope to post this and pictures of my hair transplant within the next week. In short the I thought the support and help Dr Humayun and Shahid provided me whilst I was in Pakistan was excellent. They went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and help me with any issues I had. I can't make a judgment of the results yet but will let you know as soon as the results start coming through. http://hair-restoration-info.c...66060861/m/590109516 The side effects you are experiencing from Propecia will go away as soon as you stop using it for a month. I have been using it for over 2 years now and the only side effects I have noticed is pigmentation of the skin.
  3. Hi Guys, Just wanted your advice I am about to undergo hair transplant surgery within the next week and I woke up this morning with a bad case of the flu! Do you think this will affect my results? Or would you recommend I delay my surgery? Thanks
  4. Hey guys, I have decided to take the plunge and use Dr Humayun for my hair transplant because he has had some fantastic results and always seems to stand by his patients. I will be undergoing surgery sometime within the next 7 or 8 days. Beginning to get very nervous! So far his consultant Shahid as been very helpful when I call him but he takes far too long to respond to emails. I think this maybe because he is working on some other project and is tied up... I will try to give you guys a weekly update on my progress and my thoughts.
  5. OMG I never noticed the dent before! You poor guy.
  6. Just checked out your results again they look amazing. You should be very happy, how many grafts did you get in the crown and in the front and temporal peaks?
  7. Glad to hear your head is healing slowly but surely. By the way has the Dr managed to determine the reason for this case of Necrosis? Do you think this cause of this could be down to the "H" factor (human error or neglect)?
  8. With that hairstyle it is very easy to notice that you have used some sort of product on it.
  9. I've only ever used Nanogen Fibers and I think it is amazing! Great for the crown and the vertex but not so great for the front hairline because it is noticeable.
  10. Yes I agree Nanogen Fibers are great for the crown and the vertex but DO NOT use it on the front hairline because is can be very noticeable. I was Pakistan and used it on my front hairline, all the old women have tradition where they rub the guys hair to show affection and it kept coming off in their hands which was very, very embarrassing!! Nanogen is excellent and it has been a life saver for me. But I will try Dermatch on the front hair line, everyone says it is less noticeable and doesn't come off easy but it is a pain in the ass to apply it to the hair.
  11. I think Abby has been using concealer in the last 2 pictures. (Probably not a good idea to use concealer in post op pictures) But the results do look excellent, congrats.
  12. Littlewolf please check out the below link http://www.hairtransplantnetwo...D=469&PatientID=2251 On a 7 month follow up appointment he had less growth than anticipated. The Dr was willing to do a free surgery for him because he thought the results were about 50%. They decided to wait and have another follow up appointment four months later. If the results still weren't satisfactory he would do complimentary surgery. This is how he was at the end of the 11th month with obviously a good results so they deferred the surgery and he is just one more happy ending. Moral of Story: Wait for minimum of 1 Year before you can judge the result.
  13. Some of the Dr Humayun's patients on this forum that have noticed excellent results include: Dr Zia Imran from Manchester Picasso Abby I encourage everyone that is considering using Dr Humayun for their hair transplant surgery to check out the hairloss website of the above members. I am sure you will be very impressed with the results. Here is a link to some more of his great work: http://www.hairtransplantnetwo...or-ver2.asp?DrID=469 Keep up the good work Dr Humayun!
  14. Bill thanks for the above post it is very informative. I wasn't aware of the H Factor. I agree it would be good to know how physcians monitor the quality assurance of their staff. Dr Humayun can please shed some light on how you monitor the quality assurance of your staff? Thanks
  15. Billo quote: "An example of this was when you were discussing what you've obtained privately from alleged dissatisfied patients, which you later admitted (only after I called you out on it I might add) that some of them weren't fully grown out." You are right, as I am a new member I wasn't aware of the "etiquette" required in this forum. I still stand by the fact that some patients have expressed concerns over their growth rate, as I said I am happy to let you or Dr Humayun know who they are in private. Yes I did admit that some of them hadn't reached the 12 month post op period but I didn't know this was a requirement before a patient or a forum member is allowed to make an assessment on the growth rate of their hair or for them to raise their concerns. One example is Littlewolf he has just reached the 6 month post op period but the Dr has admitted that he may not achieve the results he anticipates and has very kindly offered him a free surgery. I have no doubt that cases like Littlewolfs are very rare. Any surgeon in the world can be affected by the x factor and the h factor.
  16. I think your results look very good so far but it is hard to make an accurate assessment because you have a shaved hair of head in your pre-op pictures.
  17. If I have made some unfair comments then I apologise for this. Bill I don't appreciate being put in the same boat as ammo because I think he is far more judgmental than I am. I also think you are slightly paranoid not everyone that raises concerns about HT surgery or a HT surgeon is "out to get them". If you had taken the time to read my previous post you would have known that I am more than happy with most of Dr Humayums replies. I only brought up these issues because I was hoping a member of this forum and maybe even Dr Humayun maybe able to address these concerns. So far Dr Humayun has been very open and understanding which is very reassuring. Forrest Gump your response to Megatron is excellent and I agree with you 100%. Thanks
  18. I think it is healthy to have a discussion about the different techniques and idea's involved in HT surgery. Yes I agree the Dr has been very open about his procedure as every Dr should be. Just for the record I think the Dr Humayun is an excellent surgeon and that is why I have booked my hair transplant surgery with him. The Dr does everything in his power to ensure the quality and the skill of his technicians is the best in world.
  19. Dr Humayuns quote: "Dear Romeono1 I have total of 18 techs 3 of them started with me in 2001 1 started in 2002 4 started in 2005 6 started in 2007 3 started in 2008 1 in 2009 one of them have just left. so this is the experience of my tech," As you are aware just because a technician is experienced doesn't mean they are good. How do you ensure the quality of the technicians you use in Pakistan? Do you carryout an audit on the results of your technicians work? An ongoing review maybe? Have you ever tried to find out which technicians have been working on patients that have had poor hair growth results and tried to find out if there is a pattern?
  20. Megatron this forum is here so people can ask questions about hair transplant surgery, raise their concerns and learn. Every person is entitled to an opinion and some Dr's have differing opinions on subject matters. Therefore it is healthy to question techniques used by Dr's as this helps people to make up their own mind on which techniques used etc are better. In future rather than discouraging fellow posters from raising questions I suggest you encourage them as this will help other forum member as well. Thanks
  21. Dr Humayun it is good to see that you are standing by your patients. We have to remember that each patient has a limited amount of grafts that they can use from their donor area and if these grafts are not put to good use then they are wasted. i.e. patients will never be able to use the wasted grafts again.
  22. Yes you are right the graft survival depends on a combination of things and not just the quality of the technician and the surgeon. But I believe the technique used by the surgeons and the technician also plays a big part in the survival rate of grafts. I.e. as you know some surgeon's trim chubbier grafts: I think the main problem with using these skinnier grafts is that the physical structure of the graft is very vulnerable to being damaged in the placement process by the hair transplant assistants. It is also more susceptible to becoming dried out if left on an assistant's gloved finger too long. These two comments are in addition to possible damage to the 'bulge' and dermal papilla areas, and also cutting off possible hidden telogen follicles. For this reason I believe the trimming of some of the chubbier hair grafts could lead to poor growth yeild of some grafts. I got this information from Dr. Michael Beehner's article on "Chubby" Verses "Skinny" grafts. He is one of the recommended hair restoration physicians.
  23. Quote from Dr Humayun "Now, I also acknowledge the fact that some percentage of my patients and for that matter any surgeons patient would be un satisfied with the yield issue and there are reasons that are due to surgeon and technique and also that in some cases its not know usually referred as X factor. Irrespective of the reason I take the blame for the poor growth." I think the main reason some patients are facing growth yeild problems is because of the technique used. i.e. some surgeons trim chubbier grafts: the main problem with using all extremely skinny, skeletonized FU's is that the physical structure of the graft is very vulnerable to being damaged in the placement process by the hair transplant assistants. It is also more susceptible to becoming dried out if left on an assistant's gloved finger too long. These two comments are in addition to possible damage to the 'bulge' and dermal papilla areas, and also cutting off possible hidden telogen follicles. Do you think this could be one of the main reasons some patients transplanted hair takes longer to grow. Also there doesn't seem to be any birds eye view pictures of the hair transplant surgery carried out by Dr Humanyun on this site. Why is this?
  24. Hey guys, I viewed a lot of post op pictures on this forum and noticed some people seem to have problems with their newly transplanted hair growing. What do you think are the main reason for hair growth yield problems? Is it down to the techinicians, the surgeon, type of hair? Thanks
