  1. I just had 4000 Grafts completed by Asmed 4 days ago. Do you have any pics of the top of your head and of your donor area? I was extremely worried about walking around with the cash on me as well. But it was literally not a problem at all. You are picked up inside the airport by the driver and walked out to the van. Then dropped off at the front door of the hotel, which is in a nice area of Istanbul and is a very nice hotel as well. I was worried about shaving my head and it turns out that it wasn't that big of deal at all. I actually like it shaved haha. But of course I like having my hair back more! I never felt unsafe at all during my whole trip. I made by deposit 3000 euros so I wouldn't have to walk around with as much cash. But honestly it wouldn't of mattered.

I'll take some on the weekend and post them. Good to know re cash. I still need to sort out a visa is that where i declare Im carrying over 10k? Hopefully my shaved head will look good, if not I'll have to get used it for a few months! Thanks for the support.

    Thanks JBlonde and DEBS!!! :)

Bhat - I think I read somewhere you declare if you are carrying over 10K.

  2. So I'm starting my thread a little early...

I'm scheduled to have a FUE hair transplant with Dr Koray Erdogan at ASMED on 24th April 2017. I've been quoted 5000 grafts over 2 days.

I've suffered from hairloss since my early 20s. I'm now 30 years old and have spent at least 5 years feeling pretty shitty about my hairloss. It has really affected my confidence, I wish I could move past it, but it bothers me waaaay too much! lol. I've spent hours upon hours for far too many years reading 'future treatments' message boards hoping for a new product that would help me recover my hair but ultimately this was a waste of time.

I'm on propecia (2 years) and used hair fibres for a long time, The hair fibres are good but I have overused them and people have commented on the dust on my head! haha! So it doesn't end up looking too great but its better than without.

I intend to keep a log of my transplant journey. Its 3 weeks away and i'm starting to think about it a lot. I'm worried about:

    1) travelling to Turkey alone with a large sum of cash and being on my own abroad for 2 weeks

    2) Whether I have enough donor hair of sufficient quality/density to achieve the result I want.

    3) shaving my head and the immediate appearance upon my return to work/home. Especially the redness.

    4) the operation itself. 2 days of people stabbing my head. The discomfort after.

    5) the ugly duckling stage

    6) Will the transplant be a success or fail

Worry number 6 is the most important in the end.

Despite my worries..... Fuck it I'm doing it!

I just hope that the operation is a success. I have realistic expectations in that when I had a full head of hair I was hardly looking like Brad Pitt and I don't expect the procedure to transform my appearance drastically but I do think it will improve my confidence which is more important.

I'll post some pre-op photos at some point soon and use less words in future posts. Thanks to everybody in the community for the private messages and the people who have documented their own operations, its really helped me decide to take the leap.

    Let's see how this goes!

    Will

TLDR: I'm a balding 30-something getting a hair transplant in 3 weeks. Kinda crapping my pants right now. I'll man up and post further details later.

  3. Yeah it does look better when wet. I use aloe vera gel in the morning like a styling product which I also think makes it look better during the day. I like the aloe vera gel so much that I may even just carry on using that as my every day styling product when my hair comes through.

There is no point posting anymore than weekly now as all the shedding has finished. I'm not seeing any hairs in my hands when washing and although I can see a few small see through hairs sprouting you wouldn't be able to see them in a picture.

Donor area is all healed. I keep it at a grade 1.5 and you can't see any scars. If I go to a grade 1 you can see some but only if you were really looking for it. I'm hoping as the scars heal over time that I will be able to go to a grade 1 in the future. It's pretty much life as normal now.

Thanks for the tip. JustJax also mentioned Aloe vera gel. Can you buy it the UK or order online? I'll stock up in advance lol.

Good news re donor scar. I plan to keep my back and sides quite short as my hair is horrible and wispy so keeps it tidy. Glad to hear the donor scarring shouldn't be a an issue hopefully,

Looking forward for your next update :)

  4. Hi Will, it is, but technically speaking Asmed recommends people don't use proper hair styling products (mousse, gel, wax, etc) for 6 months so only thing I use to style it is a little mix of aloe vera gel and sweet almond oil, both of which Asmed recommended for the scalp to relieve redness but I use as a make shift hair product.:D

BTW, I see from another thread that you have booked in with Asmed, congrats, they are a great team and you are in safe hands!

    That's useful to know, thanks.

Yep thanks matey - A few more months to wait for my surgery, so all the not so fun parts still to come!

Just saw your sneak preview update - looking really great!

  5. Cheers mate. I'm about to look at flights and saw your comment about spending a bit extra to upgrade from economy but there don't seem to be any seats for that when I'm looking to travel. Also thinking of making it a 2 week trip to Turkey. Is it worth it do you think or will I be too knackered or need decent accommodation (e.g. My own house) immediately post surgery?

Good to hear that the hair isn't a graft. Appears to be good customer service from ASMED with a speedy reply. So all going well for you considering the stage you are at.

At what point do you expect to see regrowth? When do you reckon it will just look like a short haircut?

  6. Hey DEBS,

Glad to hear that day to day you are just getting on with it. This morning I transferred my deposit to ASMED; so becoming a bit more real for me!

Interested in the outcome of the potentially rejected graft. As you said, after 7 weeks that seems a bit strange from my (very very basic) understanding. Although if it's just one graft then won't impact on the overall result - but ASMED then owe you 2.5 EUROS ;)
