  1. Hi Zim, yes I did. Had to dig back into some old emails/threads to gte this infor but .. back in 2013 I saw Dr Shahmalak from Manchester in the UK and he suggested 1400 grafts, then I met with Dr Ed Ball at Ziering Medical and he suggested 1300-1400 (but also noted that I would possibly need a 2nd HT to get the density). The cost of both quotes were circa 7000-8000 UK British Pounds.

Then in Oct 2014 I found this forum and read about Dr Erdogan, Dr Doganay and Dr Demirsoy so emailed all three for quotes. Dr Doğanay's people suggested 2000 grafts but I quickly ruled him out as they said he wouldn't lower my hair line due to my age. Dr. Demirsoy rep suggested 2500-3000 but I was underwhelmed with the before/after pics provided. Finally, Dr Erdogan's team came back with suggestion of 3400-3600. At that stage I felt Dr Erdogan was the way to go but I'll be honest and say I was concenred that he was suggesting many more grafts than others, and that combined with being the most expensive of the three meant it was suddenly more expensive than I had anticipated. So once again I put the idea of a HT on ice.

Then in July 2015 I got an email out of the blue (via another HT forum) saying that ProHairBelgium were going to be in London doing consults. So I went along and they were very nice but I don't think they ever officially emailed me the quote so I can't recall how many grafts they sugested, I think it was circa 2500-3000.

Finally, in spring 2016 I saw Dr Erdogan was coming to London in May so I requested a consulant and once again I had to submit my pictures etc and they suggested 3200 grafts this time. In May, I finally met Dr Erdogan and after examining me in person he suggested I only needed 2700 and thats essentially what I had done (think I had 2709).

    Phew, hope that helps!

Thank you for the detailed response!

Very interesting that ASMED originally quoted you 3400-3600, then 3200, then Erdogan in person gave you 2700. Quite a discrepancy! I think Erdogan does excellent hairline work and he is my first choice, but I'm quite concerned he uses a much larger number of grafts compared to other clinics. I have very similar loss to you and would love to go to Erdogan and insist we use around 2500 grafts to achieve whatever result they can. I'm not sure if the patient can decide on their graft count though.

Anyway, happy growing. I will be following this closely as its very similar to my situation!

  2.

    1) Hairs transplanted from the 'safe' donor zone may still be susceptible to DHT . In such an instance , the hair although not miniaturised at that point may miniaturise at some subsequent point . I hope I explained that clearly enough .

    2) Hairs transplanted from the donor zone may change characteristics when transplanted - that is none DHT susceptible donor hair can transform into DHT susceptible hair and miniaturize/fall out once relocated .

Neither of these statements are true.

  3. In any other field, a few bad results do not take precedence over hundreds of successes, so why should they here.

A few bad results and hundreds of successes isn't what we see from the pool of user reviews though. From what I've seen on this website and others, approximately 20% of the results are poor. That is way too high for a recommended surgeon. It may well be the case that all these hundreds of success stories are not posting online, but we can't prove that, all we have is the small sample size from online forums to make an educated guess. How often do you see subpar results from Rahal, Konior, Erdogan, Feriduni?

  4. Thank you for the input guys.

I think you'll get some answers from users who have gone to surgeons on the lower part of your list, but I'd go with ASMED and Dr. Erdogan based on high number of solid results and low number of complaints.

Seems like anything cheaper than their rates increases your risks.

    Just my opinion.

Do agree with his "higher graft quotes" but the results are there to back it up I guess.

You could always ask them for a more conservative approach during the pre-op discussion.

I agree with this. I could go to a "decent" doctor like Doganay or Bhatti tomorrow but the risk is too great. This thread was really to gauge if there is anyone out there as good as Erdogan for similar price. Erdogan is my first choice and I would be really interested to see if he would accomodate a lower graft count if I insisted. Do you know if any clinic would agree to this? I'll be 27 when I go for surgery, I just want to be conservative in my approach if I only have say 6000 donor hairs. Using 3000 for dense packing a teenage hairline would be irresponsible I feel. I would prefer to use 2000 for a more conservative, mature hairline around NW1.5-2 rather than a straight NW0.

Having looked closer at Demirsoy's results I think he's off the list. 1 euro per graft and it shows in the inconsistency of results. Dr Keser may come onto the list and he's 3.5 euro.

I appreciate the prevailing wisdom in the HT community is basically "this isn't a car or a TV, this is your hair, if you can't afford the best in the world then don't bother" but right now I firmly believe there is excellent work out there that will give me a hairline I'm happy with around the 2.5-3.5 euro range. If I can't find this, then yes I'll go to one of the more expensive Belgium docs for 5/6 euros+ but it will mean making huge sacrifices for where I am in professional and personal life right now. I've given it huge thought and will continue to in my research.

  5. Totally agree with this comment. It seems every time I see a post about Dr. Bhatti, it's usually a paitient with poor results. His online reps quickly jump on when someone first makes a post about his recent experience and how great their HT will turn out. Unfortunately with posts like this, those same online reps stay very quiet...

And while Dr. Bhatti and his clinic has a good online presence and take the concerns of their patients very seriously, I've just seen one too many cases like this. It is often the case that Dr. Bhatti will perform revision surgery free of charge but it should never come to that. Its using more precious donor hair.

Money can be accumulated. Donor hair cannot.

  6. Hi guys,

I am from the UK and planning to get a FUE for my hairline (currently about NW3, frontal receding) and am just getting serious with my research. I know it goes without saying that price shouldn't be a consideration but the reality is, I will never be able to afford the absolute best guys in Europe (Feriduni or other top Belgian guys for example). I also firmly believe there are excellent surgeons for more affordable prices, Turkey being the obvious example. My limit is really about 3 euros per graft.

To me it seems clear that Erdogan does the best work for an affordable price. His hairline work, which is my main concern, is up there with the best in the world. He would be my first choice but I'm concerned that he overuses grafts to achieve the dense-packed great looking hairlines. I haven't got any quotes yet but just looking online it seems what most clinics would quote you 2000, Erdogan will quote 3200 or something. Donor hair is precious and I'd be hesitant to use up half of mine basically just filling my temples. It also bumps the price up considerably.

Who other guys would you recommend for excellent hairline work at a good price? I'm also considering these surgeons.

Dr De Reys in Belgium (does everything himself but can barely find any hairline work)

    Dr Demirsoy in Turkey

    Dr Ozgur/HLC in Turkey

Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: Realise the title says Europe, technically I don't think Turkey is Europe...
