  1. Fellas, for those of you who were following my progress and are still on this website, I'm sincerely sorry for not continuing to post. Life got very hectic, and thankfully, my hair was becoming less and less of a concern. Either way, I apologize for not following through because I know this site helped me when I was trying to make decisions about a hair transplant. It's been nearly 2 years since my last post, but below are a bunch of random pictures from the last year and a half or so. All of these photos were taken at least a year after my surgery. Overall, I'm very happy with the results that I got from Dr Diep. The overall look is good I think. It definitely looks fuller when it's a bit longer and I have styled it. In most lighting it looks good, but some lighting makes the reconstructed areas look very thin. I expected that though, having very fine blond hair and only having one surgery so far. The only part that I'm not please with is my left temple. There is a patch that the destiny doesn't match. I'm not sure if it didn't grow properly there, or if Dr Diep somehow miss judged the number of grafts needed there. I've circled it in red below. I avoid it being an issue by styling my hair with the sides kind of buzzed and the top long. I'm scheduled for another surgery to add density, fix the left temple, as well as slightly bring in the temples. I hope this helps some of you and again I am sorry for my absence.
  2. Hey all, things are starting to come along. I'm posting outdoor and indoor pics so you can see various lighting. The lighting definitely makes a difference but I can go out in public with no hat now and feel comfortable! I happy with how things are coming along. If i had one complaint, it's that one of my temples is still lacking some growth. I'm only at month 5 though, so I consider myself lucky to be where I am.
  3. arminius, thanks for the response. I ended up with 2900 grafts. I amended that 2500 statement but it's on like page 2 or 3 of this thread. Hopefully that will be enough for decent/good coverage. I already anticipated possibly going in for a second procedure if this one doesn't satisfy me in terms of density... we'll see how it goes.
  4. thanks voxman..... your's does look good. congrats and thanks for the vote of confidence.
  5. thanks htsoon and oscarito. much appreciated. fingers continue to be crossed.
  6. it's crazy how much of a difference light and angle make... also, the fact that my hair is blonde and sooooo fine is a blessing and a curse. Less contrast but also takes more for coverage I think.....
  7. Hey all, I'm a few days past the 4 month mark. Definitely some changes in the last month. I also haven't cut it in a month or so. I'll try to get some outdoor photos as well. Lots of hairs growing in. Obviously density is a concern of mine. I still have some redness, but I think that is do to my super fair and sensitive skin. Hoping to gain some density in the following months. Would love to hear your thoughts?
  8. Well, it's been 3 months. Definitely some hairs growing. Not a ton, but some. I can see it starting to form a hairline and fill in a bit, but it's extremely fine and blonde so almost invisible to the camera. I tried my best to zoom in and edit so you could see. Also, I cut my hair really short because for me it feels less awkward at this stage. Being patient and waiting for growth challenging and nerve racking I will admit! My fingers continue to be crossed hoping for a good result.
  9. My skin is really sensitive and turns red very easily. It also stays red for quite a while. For me, it was definitely noticeable after 3 weeks. It's gotten much better, but mine still has some redness at 2.5 months. I wear hats when I go out or work for the most part. If you have a similar hairline/skin tone to me, and plan on having a similar procedure, I would still expect redness at that point. You could just own it and be honest with people who notice it and ask. I don't flaunt it but I'm fairly open with people about my HT. It just feels better to me than lying and making shit up about why my head has some redness. If your hair really bothers you and you really feel like a HT is what you want to do, I'd say go for it. There never really seems to be a "right" time between work, social engagements, etc. I realize that not everyone feels that way, but that's been my feeling about it. That said, this whole sitting back and waiting for it to grow is nerve racking. You're also supposed to take care of your head, not get it sunburned, etc.... So I guess depending on what your job is in the military, maybe it would be wise to wait. Sorry if that was a totally contradictory response
  10. asakdan, nothing to report at the moment. i'll take some pics at the 3 month mark unless I have a growth spurt before then in which case I'll post sooner...
  11. Thanks HassonandwongUK I appreciate the vote of confidence.....
  12. Thanks Tj287... I did years of research, knew more or less what to expect, and it's still hard for me mentally right now. I appreciate the positive words.
  13. Hey all. I'm at about the 2 month mark now post FUE with Dr Diep. Not a ton to report. I've still got some redness in the back but its mostly covered by my hair. I've got some stragglers growing in the recipient area, but not much yet. It may be hard to tell in the photos because my hair is blonde and fine. Anyways, hoping to see some more action soon. Thoughts?
  14. One month out. Not much to report. I've shed 99% of the transplanted hairs. I've got redness in both donor and recipient area. Both are slowly getting better. My skin is very sensitive anyways so I'm not surprised that it's still red. figures crossed. Man, no matter how much research you do before hand, waiting for it to grow is still nerve racking.
  15. Hey guys, sorry it's been a while since my last update. Not a lot going on except for a whole lot of ugly ducklingness...... All I can do now is sit back and wait.....
  16. it's official. I'm an ugly duckling.
  17. Hey guys, whats the general time frame for when you start to shed and hit the ugly duckling stage?
  18. Here's where I'm at on Day 8. Most of the scabs came off in the shower the last 2 days. I've still got some scabs and dry skin though. Still have some numbness is the donor and recipient area, but no pain and the numbness seems to be getting better every day. My hair is sooooo flipping fine that I'm pretty sure I'm going to need a second HT no matter how good Dr Diep's work is! UGH! The curse of the blonde man. It's hard to see some of the implanted hairs in the pictures because my hair is so fine and blonde, but it's there. No shedding that I'm aware of yet. Just redness. Anyways, let me know if you guys have any thoughts. Hoping to be one of the lucky few who doesn't shed but not counting on it. As long as it grows in dense at some point I'll be happy ps- sorry the pics always come out sideways for some reason.
  19. looks really good. congrats. hoping for the same kind of results from mine with Dr Diep.
  20. Here are some pics of my recipient area as well as my donor area at the end of day 4 post FUE with Dr Diep. 2,900 Grafts
  21. looking really good Kpat131..... I'm 3 days out from my FUE with Dr Diep. I'm praying that my hair grows as fast as yours!
  22. Thanks E39. fingers definitely crossed.
