This 33-year-old man underwent a follicular unit extraction FUE session with Dr. Carlos K. Wesley in which a total of 3157 grafts were placed

Aspects of our surgical approach can be viewed on our site’s Most Common Questions page. Three elements combined to help improve his experience: graft harvest, graft storage, and patient safety. Rather than a larger FUE punch used by a robotic approach, Dr. Wesley used a smaller caliber hand-held motorized punch to performed the donor harvest.  This approach better enabled the capture of donor intact hair roots that are slightly curved beneath the skin surface.  Upon completion of the harvest, the patient’s donor area was treated with PRP and ACell in order to not only minimize scar tissue formation, but also encourage partial regeneration of donor hair follicles.

Graft storage was optimized as hair follicles were incubated in autologous (his own) platelet rich plasma  (PRP) throughout the duration of the procedure.  This, combined with an ATP-containing storage solution has been shown to enhance survival of transplanted hairs.

Finally, having his procedure performed in our office with the highest standards of COVID precaution helped ensure patient safety. Every patient of Dr. Wesley’s receives a rapid COVID test upon arrival to our office equipped with an ultraviolet air purification system.  Measures such as reducing foot traffic by performing virtual consultations at no charge to patients, regular staff COVID testing and no-touch temperature checks of our team that avoids public transportation help preserve our clean and sanitary safe haven. Daily sterilization of the office coupled with the most rigid OR safety precautions further allay patient concerns in this sensitive time.

The patient returned one year after his procedure and images of the patient can be seen below.  This link illustrates the timing of hair growth after surgery.  Similar patient hair transformations with Dr. Wesley and his team may also be viewed.

Sometimes, people just want to have long hair again.  Since the anagen (growth) phase of the transplanted follicles lasts nearly 7 years, patients are able to wear that hair at various lengths after their procedure. This patient man underwent a follicular unit transplantation (FUT) session with Dr. Carlos K. Wesley in which a total of 2222 grafts were placed.  He loved being able to wear it long once again!

Three unique elements combined to help improve his experience: no-shave requirement for optimal discretion, enhanced graft storage measures, and rigid patient safety standards.

As with all of Dr. Wesley’s patients, he was NOT required to cut his hair for the procedure.  As a result, this patient was able to return comfortably to work and social activities within approximately 7-10 days of his procedure.

  9. In an effort to keep both patients and our surgical staff healthy and safe during the novel coronavirus outbreak, our office has suspended operations temporarily beginning on Monday, March 23rd.

    logo-88x40
During this time of closure and upon welcoming patient visits once again, we will continue our enhanced maintenance of an optimally-sanitized environment. To this end, we have installed a TZAP Air Purification System in addition to performing a daily sterilization of all surfaces within our office. This ultraviolet air-cleansing system has been proven to reduce the risk virus transmission within a conditioned space and can actually decrease the germs in a sneeze by 99% before they travel 3 feet.

To further improve the office habitat, Dr. Wesley has also limited patient traffic by suspending any fee for virtual consultations that he himself continues to perform. Moreover, Dr. Wesley and each member of his staff travel to and from the office and their homes only in their own private vehicles (rather than public transportation).

In compliance with the New York Dept of Health, our in-office activity will remain suspended until the mandate has been lifted for our specialty. With our objective to remain the cleanest and most sanitary office in NYC, we will continue to take measures to keep both our patients and our staff healthy and safe.

This patient underwent a follicular unit transplant (FUT) session with Dr. Carlos K. Wesley in which a total of 2342 grafts were placed

The hair follicles were incubated in autologous (his own) platelet rich plasma (PRP) throughout the duration of the procedure.  This, combined with an ATP-containing storage solution has been shown to enhance survival of transplanted hairs.

As with all of Dr. Wesley’s patients, the patient  was NOT required to cut his hair for the procedure.  As a result, this patient was able to return comfortably to work and social activities within approximately 7-10 days of his procedure.

The patient returned 5 years after the procedure and images of this patient can be seen below.
