  1. I"m thinking of setting aside the money from my flex spending acct. However I beleive its not supposed to be used for cosmetic type procedures. I've used the card for massages before and it has worked so I am wondering if it will work for this? They issue us a visa card to use in conjunction with the account. Thanks
  2. Are you on any meds - Propecia and/or Rogaine? No meds now. I took propecia from 21 to 27. Started getting ED and stopped taking it. Now that the meds have stopped, my hair is dropping out. Has your diet changed lately? Increased stress? Very high stress levels. Work and Personal life. How old are you? Currently 29. What is your family history with respect to hair loss? 3 out of 4 uncles on moms side are bald.
  3. I didn't realized just how quickly my hair loss has progressed since I compared these pictures tonight. One set was taken in August. Just 3 months ago. And I took these today. In a way, I'm glad its falling out, so I can get to my transplant quicker. I'd hate for it to fall out slowly and have to wait years before doing it.
  4. I had a discussion the other day with a friend about possibly having this procedure done. She mentioned that you don't see as many bald people around in Southern California anymore. Specifically Newport/Irvine/Laguna Beach where I"m from. When I got to thinking, I did realize she was right. It was not a big secret that women here have lots of plastic surgery done. I never realized men were doing it too you just couldnt notice. I don't feel as weird/scared/ashamed about doing it. I just thought I'd never be one who would have too. Has anyone from this area noticed this as well? oh and btw- I'm a commercial airline pilot. I've traveled to every state in our great country. Theres just a huge difference that I notice between men (and women) who get on my airplane from the midwest vs southern calif. I'm not being rude, just a general view. It wasn't until she pointed this out that I started to put the pieces together.
  5. the hair loss definetely has not stopped. I took propecia from 22-27 and stopped due to ED. I still don't have 100% of my stamina back. I can't take propecia so it will most likely be rogaine. I posted my pictures about a month or so ago and I've lost considerable amounts of hair on my temple regions since then. I've been off propecia for 2.5 year now and its really starting to come out. I am certain I will do the procedure, I'm just not sure when. Due to the fact that I will continue to lose more hair.
  6. Every time I am sitting in bed and look at my pillow, I notice how much hair falls out. I was thumbing thru my hair last night and then counted hairs and it was 25. After this, I got curious as to how many hairs to lose per day was average. I came up with about 100 per day via google searches. After meeting with my doctor, 1200 grafts was recommended. Since then I've lost a lot more hair. I would guess that I would get no less than 1500 grafts, possibly more since I had my consult back in November. If I were to get 1500 grafts, one could guestimate that it would be about 3000 hairs. Would it be safe to say after full regrowth, I would look similar to what I looked like a year ago?
  7. Mine started to go at around 21ish. I got on propecia and it brought all of it back within six months to a year. It started giving me sexual side effects at 25 and at 27 I finally stopped taking it in fear of permenant damage. My advice is since your very young still you can go on propecia but ultimately, when you get into your mid to late twenties, you may opt to have the procedure done. However, please consult a doctor first before taking the stuff.
  8. I am starting to get considerable amounts of white hair around my head. Are these hairs transplantable to the front from the back of the head?
  9. Oh and I read somewhere that it only effects 2% of the users, I truly feel this is a lie, because I knew several guys who took propecia, and all of them experienced ED at one point or another.
  10. Not really, only because the side effects went so far that I didn't have any feeling in my sex drive left. I mean none. I think that was very tough to deal with. I've been off the meds for 2 years now and I'm only 60-70% of what I once was, and can only last about 10 minutes. I'm only 29, I hope I don't offend anyone, but that is something I didn't think I would be dealing with for at least another 20 years.
  11. Now that I've read some other posts, does anyone think that I would have a lot of shockloss? The Dr. mentioned that if I went above 1200 grafts I might see it. but that was during our first consult, since then i've lost more hair.
  12. i was referring to the actual cutting of the scalp and during surgury
  13. I just spoke to my cousin who had the procedure done in 2002. He said he remembers it hurt a lot and was in pain for two days. Whats everyones view on the pain?
  14. here are two pictures right after coming out of the shower and the hair blow dried. Its 5% wet. 95% dry.
  15. When I got my first consult back in Nov, the corner areas that have faded back were much much thicker. It was a mere slight thinning. Now it is very noticable people have told me I look much older. Man do I feel robbed of my youth.
