  1. Hi folks,

I'm considering getting a FUT, do you have any recommendations for a really good surgeon in Northern California (San Francisco Bay Area - Sacramento) ?

I've read really good reviews about Hasson and Wong in Vancouver, but if I can find someone with equivalent skills locally, I'd prefer that.

I'd consider a doctor in Southern California as well.

    Thanks for your help,

    Lander

If I was on the west coast, I would go to Hasson & Wong!

  2. Still doing my research but leaning towards Dr. Hasson. Does that change anything?

I dont think you can go wrong with either one. How close are you to Ottawa vs Vancouver?

For me it was a 6 hour drive from the states to Rahal vs 6 hour flight, but I think I would have been happy with either one. With H&W I felt the rep was too "salesy" if that's even a word - turned me off.

  3. It seems like it's been longer than three months as the wait is excruciating! lol....

But so far so good. LOTS of fine hairs sprouting, and a good number of hairs are thickening, as you can see.

I have not cut the top since the two month post, but have been getting weekly cleanups on the sides and backs. The pictures are immediately after I had my sides/back cut to a 1-1.5 fade.

I can't wait until the top grows out long enough to style.. That's what happens with coarse Asian hair.. you can't have it too short or it looks like a chia pet!

Pretty excited to see the changes in the next month alone.

I think it looks great! Congrats! I feel like after being on this forum for a while, H&W, Rahal and Shapiro are the best in North America, just my opinion.

My question is, when you're a young guy and you start attacking the temples if you're using rogaine will it help save the hair behind it as hair loss continues or will you need to use Fin as well?

Even in my case, a N5 I know the only way to keep fighting MPB is to have future HTs, but I'm 45 and when I see young guys getting HT to address what I dont consider NOT a real problem are they setting themselves up for procedure after procedure for many many years to come? I know a lot of people think it's one and done, but I've come to accept that I dont think that's truly the case.

I saw a few guys at Rahal that I would consider fine, but in their minds they didn't look good and were BALD. I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder...:-) It reminds me of the pretty girl in school that thought she was fat, but weighed 110lbs.

  4. Yes this is normal. Your surgeon undoubtedly did not want to plant your grafts as low as your native hairline but instead provided you with a mature placement.

And if your hairline is receding, your native hairline is going to pull back in a matter of time.

When everything regrows, you will probably conclude that everything looks fine.

    Congrats on your recent procedure...;)

    Thanks - appreciate it!!:):)

  5. Like others have said, if you have the scar, do FUT again UNLESS you got a bad/stretched scar the first time, which could indicate that your physiology doesn't heal well. In that case, due to decreased laxity, you could wind up with an even wider scar. I just got my second FUT procedure and they just excised the original scar to create a new one. So far, so good, and I can FUE in the future, including dropping grafts into the scar to camouflage it.

    Thanks!

  6. Leftygolpher,

If I understand your question correctly, you are asking whether or not there is any reason not to shower normally after 14 days. I would say the answer is no. In my opinion, you should let the shower water hit your head and you can wash normally unless your physician specifically stated otherwise. In fact, even before that, you should be gently massaging your scalp with your fingertips in order to gently work off the scabs. But again, every doctor has a unique set of post op instructions. So make sure you follow your doctor's advice.

    Best wishes,

    Bill

Thanks Bill. Yes, that's exactly what I was asking. The Dr.s recommendation is to wait until 14 days for shower post OP.

    Thanks!
