  1. I am finally able to have my procedure done, after first inquiring here a couple of years ago. The question I have today is why is Dr. Epstein not on your recommended list? When I first asked about doctors who deal with women his name was given. I was also considering Dr. Feller, but my phone call to his office was abrupt and I was never called back. That was a couple of months ago. I called again a couple of weeks ago and asked if I could send pictures to the doctor via email for him to look at. I was told by the person on the phone that she would make sure he looked at them. So far no call, and I don't expect one. He might be a brilliant HT surgeon, but frankly, if his staff is as bad as bad as it seems to be I'm not sure I'd put much faith in him. The staff is a direct reflection of the physician. and given the nature of the procedure and the cost I would expect my inquiries would be addressed quickly rather than ignored. Please update me on who is best for women; I am in Massachusetts and going further than NY is really going to strain my resources as I am disabled and have been scrimping to get to the point where I can pay for part and finance part of the procedure. Any help/direction would be appreciated. Thanks so much.
  2. My post seemed to have disappeared...like my hair is. I was going to see Dr. Epstein in NY but his schedule is very limited and now that I can pay for the procedure I wanted to be able to work it into the month of July. From my time here on the board in the past Dr. Feller also gets high marks, but I'm not sure if he does as many women. BTW, the first time I called his office a couple of months ago I never got a call back; today I emailed picrtures to the office and I hope they reach the doctor's desk. Since it appears that someone from his office is on this board, can you tell me how much of his practice is comprised of women, and if you have former female patients I can speak with. Dr. Feller has a couple of July openings and I would like to get one of them.
  3. Thanks for the reply. I didn't mean to suggest I was looking for a female doctor; gender doesn't matter to me; getting hair to grow does! I have emailed Dr. Feller, having seen a lot of complimentary things said about his work here.
  4. It's been a while since I have been here as I have not had money for any procdures. However, I'd like to know who is currently being recommended for women. Someone on this forum had some negative things to say about Dr. Epstein, and he's the doctor originally suggested. I live in Massachusetts and travel is a consideration, but will consider doctors in the US only. Closer is better if anyone is good. Thanks in advance for your help.
  5. Could someone kindly explain the cost of a HT? I'm reading about follicles, grafts, hairs, etc. Is there an "average" cost for the above among the well known East Coast, USA HT doctors? Thanks.
  6. Hello, I am new here, female and a RN. I am sorry for what has happened to you. As an aside, 3 years ago today I had back surgery that left me with chronic nerve and other pain and a host of disabilities, so I can empathize with how it feels to live in a "different" body. Depending upon the state in which you live, there is a statute of limitations within which you can attempt to bring a medical malpractice lawsuit. Sometimes it's from the date of the surgery, sometimes from the date you discovered the injury. My real reason for posting is that I hear desperation in your post. You do not say if you have seen a neurologist or a pain specialist. While I am not familiar with nerve damage to the scalp, I had nerve damage to my spine (no,I could not sue; nerve damage and death are potential "problems" with back surgery, LOL). There are medications that can be used successfully for nerve pain of different origins; I urge you to get yourself evaluated to see if there is a way to alleviate your suffering. Best of luck to you.
  7. This is my first posting here. I'm female, age 55, and my hair has been thinning in the crown for more than 20 years. I live in the Boston area and gather from reading here that Dr. DeStefano and Dr. Leonard aren't thought of very well. I'm thinking of seeing Dr. Cohen. I'm a disabled RN so money is an issue, but especially for a woman hair loss is a very sensitive subject. I don't know if there are any women here, but I'm happyt to hear stories from anyone willing to share their experience. Thank you all in advance.
