  1. Great post, so many good points. The video did not work for me however. Also, I should note that statistically speaking the odds of going to a Norwood 7 are very low (7%). Doctors can usually judge which people are at high risk for becoming that bald. But hairloss is very unpredictable and a NW 7 could happen to anyone. But you are 110% right about the importantce of planning a baldie's ht path for all the reasons you mentioned. Great post!
  2. This is a juicy thread. Lostmyswagger, Yeah, the whole point of a hair transplant is to mislead people sir, to trick them into thinking that you are less bald than you actually are. Dr. Feller DID style this dudes hair in a way that was meant to deceive people because in doing so he made him appear to have more hair than he actually does which again IS THE POINT OF A HAIR TRANSPLANT. You have to remember that you are moving hair around, not creating new hair. Us baldies have three options to deal with hair loss. I would like to use Thana's weblog as a reference (I hope you don't mind Thana, I know you are a good sport so I am confident it will not be an issue). 1) Go bald, do nothing. Take a look at http://www.hairtransplantnetwo...opyID=1125&WebID=557 2) Get baldness treated with meds and hair transplant but do NOT use creative hair styling coupled with helpful hair products. http://www.hairtransplantnetwo...opyID=2051&WebID=557 3) Get baldness treated with meds and hair transplant and creative hair styling coupled with helpful hair products. http://www.hairtransplantnetwo...opyID=2050&WebID=557 GettingItRight, My advice to you is to choose option 3. In Dr. Feller's pics, you hair is creatively styled and it looks great and I think if you try to follow Thana's suggested regime, I suspect you could make it look even better: http://hair-restoration-info.c...66060861/m/978108134 I give this advice to address this quote: Very good point. Please remember that good hair products are designed to help our hair deal with the real world. Choosing option 3 will help you with your concerns.
  3. I am excited for you Severn.....I think you are going to be one happy man come 12 months from now sir!
  4. I am glad to learn that I am not the only baldie thinking about extreme and "outside the box" solutions to deal with my hair loss in the event that I become a 6 or 7. I had considered the solution proposed in this thread as a potential option. Afterall, some years of having a lower hairline with non-permanent donor hair is better than none, especially since when the hairs fall out, it would progress into a maturing hairline, as is a common natural occurence. After thinking about it, I stumbled upon a major potential problem which creates a great risk for this solution: what if you take hair from a semi-permanent zone? Some people go partially bald in an area, so in other words, they lose some but not all hair in the area in question. While this looks like natural when it is part of a balding pattern, it would look very unnatural if it appeared in a hairline. Imagine having random hairs all around the lower hairline.....it would not look very good. I have some other extreme, outside the box solutions that I will share someday when I feel like typing up the thread, two of which I am seriously considering.
  5. Thanks for the replies guys. Glad to hear that the answer is white and that you have a hard time finding your scar Severn. Ive seen some great results with FUE scar repair Sparky, I think you'll be fine sir! Im gonna buzz to 0 guard and see what my scar looks like.....will do it when I have 2 weeks off and will post pics.
  6. Hey, For a white guy, when a FUT has fully healed\matured, what color is the scar white or red? A lot of people have discussed buzzing down to a #1-4 the after FUT wondering how well it would disguise the scar. This is a risky proposition in som people because no hair grows out from the scar, therefore when u have short hair there is a difference between the scarred and non-scarred area because the hair is not long enough to cover the scar. What about a 0 buzz though? In this case, there would be no hair showing from EITHER the scarred and non-scarred areas, so wouldnt the difference be less noticable? Of course this all depends on the answer to my first question.....
  7. Wow, an absolutely phenomenal post..... Thanks, cant thank you enough for taking the time to write that.
  8. My apologies. Those types of posts are rare for me....sorry again for the disrespect.
  9. Yeah agreed, can't wait for the day that we get a new hair loss treatment! Heres to hoping for hair cloning soon!
  10. My apologies for the CAPS LOCK. I am a very passionate guy who means well but sometimes I get carried away and HAVE TROUBLE RESISTING THE URGE TO STAY AWAY FROM THE CAPS LOCK KEY! Regardless, I thought my cost benefit analysis of the various hair loss treatments was solid.
  11. In my opinion, FUE costs are reasonable. Compare the costs vs benefits for all medical ht treatments: 50 year cost of Propecia @ $70 CDN per month: $42,000. Best case benefits, some hair regrowth (if you are VERY lucky) and hair stabilization . $42K is expensive for this benefit if you ask me. And yes, I know Proscar is much cheaper and I think its highly unlikely that Propecia will be around for 50 years since there will likely be better treatments discovered. 50 year cost of Rogaine @ $63 CDN per month: $38,000, with similar benefits as Propecia. Again $38K seems expensive for the benefits received, esp when they are not guaranteed to last. 6000 FUE grafts (average donor density) @ $6 per graft: $36,000. The benefit being that your hair is spread out over your balding area for the rest of your life. At a cheaper price than Propecia and Rogaine with MORE benefits....there is no question that $6 per FUE graft is reasonable. Even if you pay $12 per FUE graft with Dr. Bernstein or $10 per FUE graft with Feller, you are still getting more bang for your buck than with Propecia and Rogaine. Why people would pay A LOT more to go with those docs, I dont know since there are cheaper docs who provide similar results.....but we operate in a free market and that is their prerogative to pay more........ To those who complain about Feller's high prices, I have simple advice: DON'T GO WITH HIM. I'm going with Shapiro for FUE and will get similar results than with Feller but I will never disrespect those who do choose Feller, even if I would never in a million years pay more than the market value for a service without significant value added. The bottom line is that picking a ht doc is a very personal choice and people should not be bashed for it.....esp when Feller produces great work and provides good serice.
  12. Congrats Sparky, way to not read the part in the thread where I said: "So yeah, you are right and I am wrong shanti..." So yes, I was getting 5 but was man enough to admit I was wrong. Lets see if you are man enough to admit you jumped the gun.
  13. haahahahah I love how nobody mentioned Rassman. And rightfully so in my opinion.
  14. Yeah, Hasson and Wong rock with their documentation. Hands down the best hair transplant clinic in the world in my opinion (not to disrespect other great clinics but in every field there is always a BEST and in the HT world, H&W are the best because they rock at everything: crowns, hairlines and graft extraction) Now back on topic: Thank you Dr. Feller for having the balls to experiment with PRP....you are working very hard to give us baldies more tools to fight MPB and I am very grateful for that. This thank you goes out to all docs who are trying PRP out.
  15. First I'd like to answer your question and then give you a comment: Downsides to phasing in FUE that I can think of: People who have yet to undergo a ht often underestimate how hard the waiting period is....let me tell you it is TOUGH. Even after doing research and developing realistic expectations, waiting for hair growth has been 10000 times harder than I anticipated. And you know what the funny thing is? I had a FUT done with Dr. True in June and have been getting INSANE growth (4th best growth at 3 months I have ever seen) and yet the wait is still REALLY REALLY tough. So yeah, phasing in FUE will require double the waiting time, which is a huge downside that is hard to appreciate for first timers. Now for my comment, if you are young and a NW2, I would wait to get a ht. I am a huge supporter of youngins getting a procedure done if their hair loss is at least a NW3 and if the doc is conservative.....but NW2 is just not bald enough for people under 30 I say, esp if we are talking about a mature hairline with no signs of MPB.
  16. Yeah, his hairline shape hasnt really changed over the years...... and in the recent pic, he is showing further signs of thinning up front compared to before, which wouldnt happen with a ht that was taken from the correct donor area..... and Im having a hard time finding evidence of a scar. So yeah, you are right and I am wrong shanti. BUT.....I still think his uncommon balding pattern looks odd, and I think thats how some Armani patients with limited donor and low hairlines will look like in a few years. Therefore ZZ is a good example in the argument AGAINST transplanting low hairlines. I can see why B Spot and Jotronic have a challenging time dealing with guys like jaun......I respect them for taking the time to educate people like him, I don't know if I would have the patience. But I havent seen some of the horror stories that they have....so that is probably very motivating.
  17. shanti, I have to disagree, heres why: I saw a pic of him in his younger days with diffuse thinning all over, including the front. Now he has a thick juvenile hairline with a hugr crown spot. Even though I cant find any proof that he had one done, what else is one going to conclude after putting 2 and 2 together?
  18. We still dont understand how Minoxidil works, so it would be tough to infer about the differences between Propecia and Rogaine. Odds are pretty good that if you are experiencing baldness, its MPB....regardless of how effective the meds you mentioned are.
  19. I dont think so because the hair follicles can probably still be seen, even if the hair is shed. Good question though.
  20. Yeah, after 9 days, the grafts can only be removed by surgery. So don't sweat about the sweat!
  21. SMG produces AMAZING results on a consistent basis and DR. PAUL is by far my favorate poster on these forums because he provides very detailed, clear and information with his replys. You are very lucky to live so close to them! They charge $6 per FUE graft.
  22. Thana and Bill, you both have awesome hair and based on pics Ive seen, dont need to dye it to get a better appearance of density! Regarding the cons of dyeing hair, I have read that long term use of stronger dyes can damage hair......since hair regrows, Ive never understood why thats a big deal, maybe for those who have longer hair...... Assuming you both keep your hair short, I dont see why you cant do it! Even if I think you dont need it,
  23. juan, Go take a look at a soccer player named Zinedine Zidane. He is a Norwood 6-7 that had a Norwood 1 hairline transplanted. In my opinion, it looks very unnatural when you look at his whole head, even when he sports a buzz. If you want a transplant at a young age, I hope you goto an ethical doctor that will transplant a conservative Norwood 2 hairline that will look good for the rest of your life, even if you become balder.
  24. Do you have naturally good scalp elastcity or did you do lots of scalp exercises?
