  1. Hi Spectre, The general rule of thumb is that if you didn't see any bleeding, you should be fine, I think what you are describing is a type I pull as per this article: Graft Anchoring in Hair Transplantation: Hair Restoration Surgery Publications | Bernstein Medical - Center for Hair Restoration which also means you should be fine a week post op,
  2. Hi, Around the 8th or 9th day post op, I gently massaged my recipient area, which in and of itself is not a bad thing but I did so excessively (at least an hour over the day). The good news is that most of the scabs and crusts came off. The bad news is that I my recipient area appeared to be thinner after all was said and done and noticeably redder. I am not sure if this is because I compromised graft growth/survival up or because I caused some safe hair shed and a reduction in perceived density that the surface area and color of the scabs. Attached are pics 8 and 14 days post op. What do you think? Thanks!
  3. Since you live in NY, I would start your journey by booking a consult with the following doctors: Feller True Bernstein Dorin They all operate in NY city (Feller just outside), ask them for their advice on what to do. All except Bernstein will provide a free consult...... I have seen them all pull off some impressive repair work.....esp Bernstein but he is really expensive but is totally worth it for repairs in my opinion (normal ht, not even freaking close in my view, he charges double)
  4. Yeah seriously I agree with Dr Feller, if more doctors were doing these treatments AND communicating the results to people, we could get more data faster. But this takes massive effort to do, so I can understand why there is potential reluctance. This is also why I have so much respect for Dr. Feller for having the balls to take this initiative on. It also solidifies why he is one of the best professionals in this field people, he is never satisfied with the status quo and is constantly striving for new ways to help us baldies out (his innovative FUE methods and his efforts to test and communicate PRP efficacy.)
  5. Shockloss is a risk in underoging a ht. The good news is that your age is outside the high risk age range (20's)...... I would also make sure u take finasterside before and after....I have read it drastically reduces the risk of shock loss.
  6. BHR is not listed on this site but do not let that sway you.....I have seen some amazing results come from this clinic.
  7. You need to take 1 week off minimum, 2 is preferable......your head will most likely not look mangled by this point. Also depends on your Norwood level, if you are lower, you can use your remaining hair to comb over the transplanted areas. If not, then it will depend on how fair your skin is. The fairer your skin, the higher the redness/pinkness risk is imo. Dermmatch is another option. My doc also suggested some creams to mask redness but I cant remember what they are now.
  8. I agree that this is such an interesting topic. I really wish a study could be done like Dr Keane's on mass scale that would measure the average FU's across the different areas of a non-balding scalp. I remember reading on Dr. Rassman's blog that he said that hair density is evenly distributed across the scalp.....but I have read elsewhere that this is simply not true (see Dr. Keane's study and references within to see what I mean). To me, by far the most interesting thing about Dr. Keane's preliminary findings is that the 50% we thought we were transplanting might be closer to 100%, which would explain why the human eye apparently cannot distinguish between 50% and 100% density. Put another way: her study puts average hairline density at about 50'ish FUs......where before we thought it was higher, thus we thought that 50'ish FUs was about 50% when in fact it could be closer to 100%. The thing with averages is that they represent a middle point in a spectrum. Look at Rob Patinson (dude from Twilight).....his density is clearly at the high end......but you don't need that density to not appear bald, which is really what us baldies want to achieve. at firat I was letdown to hear that my doc trasplanted only 35 to 40 FU at the hairline.......but now am happy after reading this study.....and have made coverage, not density my main goal, esp when you take Thana's hair routine into consideration.
  9. Hey RajToor, just so you know, I have read that the crown is the least dense area (see page 309: http://books.google.com/books?...20transplant&f=false but it is also very large and is why it is known as the black hole.
  10. If you used enough grafts, you could get that hair as a NW4.....the only problem is if you bald further, you might not have enough to cover the 5,6 and 7 areas. Thats why its important to have your NW6/7 area measured.....and your donor density measured by a qualified doc.
  11. Yeah, Im gonna have to chime in another vote for Thana....his dedication, helpfulness and knowledge make him the perfect fit for this job I say.
  12. Smile and the world smiles back. Cliche but true.....my guess is you are smiling more than you realize and are getting good responses.
  13. I do not know you JIMjim but if I were in your shoes, I would do the following: 1) Continue the search for a job: Looking for work sucks...its tough, awkward and requires lots of effort that is often rewardless. I know it is tougher than usual to land a job in this economic downturn....but the economy is picking up, which will create opportunities. Dont give up, something will come up! 2) Send your photos to Dr. Dr. Humayun Mohmand. This doctor operates out of Pakistan and is therefore able to charge a lot less per graft than his North American competitors. Since money seems to be an issue, you can goto the doc who offers the best prices but keep in mind that his quality is outstanding. You will have to pay for a plane ticket but it will still be way cheaper. 3) Get a loan if need be. Interest rates are very low now so you could get a good rate.
  14. He does great work, very underrated, so I am not surprised.....and he has a really cool name, which doesn't hurt matters any!
  15. I am sold.....I am booking an appointment IMMEDIATELY, I WILL have my next hair transplant with Dr. Norton Abraham.
