  1. I admit the post op pic is not a clear one as i clicked it myself and there is nobody to assist at this point of time. I have requested Dr Radha to provide me the pictures she took. When should I start mioxidil solution, after 15 days? Dr Radha told me to use nizoral 2% shampoo twice a week to reduce dandruff after 15 days.
  2. Updates, mate? Your area of surgery seems almost like mine though I had 3168 grafts only. Would like to see how are you progressing to create an expectation chart for myself as well.
  3. Thanks kopite for the reply. What do you think of 3168 graft for the area she covered? I think it should be fine in terms of density, what say? Also, are you taking any multi-vitamins or something? I am on Finpecia only. I am not bothered much about the result as of now. She did the best she could as she always does. She is so calm and serene. She didnt mention about the amount even once, though I kept on bringing the topic again and again but she was like, we can talk about it later. I finally paid her when I was leaving for the airport to catch my return flight.
  4. Finally had my surgery. Here is the link of my surgery documentation. http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/180063-hair-transplant-dr-radha-3168-grafts-30th-june.html#post2436852
  5. I have few doubts which I want to clear: I will be working from home till 12th July and will be joining office on 13th July. My stitches come off on 7th. So I am preferring to wear a cap from 13th. Will it be fine if i wear the cap whole time long in the office? I dont want to take off the cap in front of other guys and keep on answering everybody that I had a transplant. I told everybody that I had a minor surgery at the back of the head to remove a small lump in skin that was giving me trouble. For this I can go bald but can't show the front of my head to the guys. So, will it be fine after 13th to wear cap all day long during office time? Thanks.
  6. I have the headband on and not able to click the stitches picture myself. I have emailed Dr Radha to send me the pictures as well. Once I get pictures from her, I will post them in here.
  7. The graft placement is attached. I had a total area of 76cm sq as calculated by Dr Radha. Comments welcome. Edit: In the back the current hair is slightly overshadowing some of the grafts. What do you guys think of the density? I just want something denser than what I had in my pre-op pics (whatever I had in front).
  8. Hi All, After all the contemplations and comparing situations with results available online, finally took a plunge. My hair loss story starts back in 2010 when I started losing my hair. Like most of the guys, I never thought I will be a victim of hairloss and that time I thought it's temporary and will come back eventually. Cut to 2012 and the loss was certainly visible. I started looking for solutions online and stumbled over this website from online searches. I did a brief consultation with Dr Radha during July 2014 but couldn't muster courage to go further. Did more of research later, checked various results which were close to my situation. Finally in April 2015 I thought of going for it finally, started conversation with Dr RAdha again and booked a date for 30th June. Her initial estimate was around 3500-3800 looking at my pictures which I sent through email. I booked my ticket for 27th June and return on 1st July. I had some plans of sight-seeing but did not know the weather would be such a plan killer. Went to the nearest beach once and stayed in the hotel for rest of the days. Day 1: June 29th 5 PM Had first consultation with Dr Radha. Reached the place at around 5PM. Soon after Dr came in and had a look at my situation. She gave me sort of good news. First that I have a good donor area, laxity is good, I dont need 3500 grafts but 3000 around would do fine. The not so good news was, my hair is fine, I would need a second session down the line (maybe after 3 4 years). She made a mark of my hairline which we discussed about. I went with conservative hairline for the first session for frontal zone only. After some queries, I left to come back next day. Day 2: June 30th 8:30AM Had my breakfast at 7:30AM and reached the place by 8:30AM. Doctor had provided a solution to wash my head night before and in the morning before coming for the surgery. Doctor arrived at 10AM and after clicking some pics, we went to the OP theater. First the team pulled out the graft, she gave me the news that the density is great so she wont be pulling the default 26cm length graft but only 24cm. She pushed some injections and made my skull numb. The grafts were pulled and back of the head sewn. Had a lunch break and then went back for the placing the grafts. I let the doctor decide whatever would be good. At around 6PM, we were done with everything. The doctor provided me with the detailed instructions. Pills for the night, icepack to place under the neck to reduce the pain. The dreaded night I couldnt sleep at all during the surgery. It did pain a bit in the middle of the surgery, for which the doctor gave a bit more anesthesia and then there was no more of pain. Came back to hotel, had my dinner and pills and tried to sleep but couldnt sleep at all. I dont know if it was me or it happens with everybody else. All the reviews I read, most of them said they slept like a baby but not me. Bad luck I guess. Day 3: 1st July Reached clinic at around 10AM for my first wash. The pain was bearable by that time. One of the assistants gave me the wash while doctor came in for a brief period for some queries that I had. She advised me to stay on Finpecia and also Minodoxil in case it doesnt affect adversely.(I have been regular on Fin from last 3 months). I was provided with a band that I have to wear for 3 days to prevent swelling from expanding. Also some antibiotics for 4 days. On 7th day, I am supposed to get my stitches removed. (14 nylon stitches) On 15th day, I am supposed to rub olive oil or coconut oil gently and leave it for overnight. Wash it next day to remove the scabs. First 7 days, i have to wash my transplanted area with J&J baby shampoo with mild dabbing and the stitched part as well (To not let any infection go through) After 7 days, I can use normal shampoo. I bought two caps to show doctor which one should I prefer after 15 days. She was fine with both. Till July 13, I have taken leaves/work from home so that I wont have to go out of house much. No exercises, swimming, heavy lifting, banging head against anything for a month (precautionary I am putting everythning for a month) No alcohol for 3 days (is beer excluded ) Prevent smoking for few days. And last but not the least, what's done is done. Do not ponder much about what density you are gonna get and what not. The doctor stressed a lot that the numbers are just numbers. 35%, 40% what we say, it differs for everybody. In all I had 3168 grafts. 1s - 930 2s - 2090 3s - 148 before transplant pics are provided in the following link: http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/179170-thinking-about-going-fut.html#post2428119 Will provide the graft region pics in few minutes. Have to click and provide. Now begins the period of wait and everyday checking of your growth.
  9. No, infact I sent her emails twice asking for any prep before coming down there but no replies. I dont know but I feel once a patient has committed, there should be some replies to emails, even if they are late. She could atleast get emails monitored regularly as this is the only way patients can communicate with her.
  10. So, after all ups and downs, weighing of options, looking at the previous results again and again, on the verge of making a booking and changing mind at the last minute, I have finally taken the plunge and made a booking with Dr Radha for this month end. I asked for the quickest possible date and it was available. Confirmed the booking by paying the advance and have booked my flight and hotel as well. I hope it all goes well. Also, I have started my scalp exercise. Please let me know guys if I need to do anything else, as the doctor stays quite busy and it is quite tough to reach her everytime i have a question. I had to continuously call/email her office for a week to have a talk with her before taking the final decision. I am very anxious and not sure what is going to happen. I know she is one of the best in India but when it comes to yourself, you start doubting even the best. I hope it all goes well and one year later I come out as another good example of Dr Radha's magical hands.
  11. So, I had my email conversation with Dr Madhu as well. Dr Madhu has given an estimate in between 2500-2900. Right now, I am in confusion. Dr Radha or Dr Madhu? I have read about both a lot here and other websites but when it comes to yourself, it is quite tough to make a decision. What do you say guys? Any help?
  12. Forgot to mention, I have been regular with my Finpecia 1mg from last 40 days or so. No side effects yet and hope none in the future too. Will keep on continuing it.
  13. So, had an email conversation with Dr Radha and I was recommended a 3500-3800 estimate for my transplant. Considering the valuable opinions provided by the people in here, I guess she in in the same opinion too. I will soon make a decision to jump over the line and let you guys know.
  14. Thanks David for taking out the time. Yes, I consulted a reputed doc some time back and I was told that it is possible to add hair to improve density in the middle. But it was kind of generic answer rather than my specific condition. About the minoxidil, could I be suggested some Indian equivalents? I wish I had started this regimen long back when I had already noticed the hairfall but didnt do anything other than consultation. Could have saved a lot.
  15. I have started taking Finpecia. Just have a query (again sorry). As I am on Finpecia now, should I go ahead with HT or should I first continue with the medicine before taking decision about HT. As I went through the forum, there were many people advising staying on medicine for sometime and then decide as the medicine might hold/reverse a bit of hairfall. What do you say guys? One more question about HT, if i go for it then is it possible to make my diffused area denser? As the front/mid scalp of my head has some sparse density of hair, is it possible to increase density in this area?
  16. Thanks Pelo for your insight. I am aiming aroung 3000 grafts and will go for one more procedure later. Meanwhile I ordered Finpecia online. Will be starting with 0.5mg dosage daily first to check for the sides and increase to 1mg if it goes fine. I hope it does.
  17. Thanks again, KO. I'll look for Finpecia in some local pharmacy in here. Also, I forgot to mention that the hairfall is quite negligible now. It's the loss that has already happened. I notice very less hairfall now, around 10-15 strands when I shampoo otherwise nothing on pillow in mornings which used to bother me a year back. I hope this is a good sign for me.
  18. Thanks KO and Pete. I enquired about finasteride also but seems it's not easily available in India. But as KO mentioned, Finpecia is available with a reputed pharma company. Is it the same as finasteride? To start with, 1mg per day would be enough or do I need to start with 1/2 mg first to check for sides?
  19. @KO, did you mean I need to start fin right now or once done with the HT as doctor suggests? Thanks Matt for your insight. About the meds, yes would be taking them to minimize the future loss with my HT. I had consultation over phone with Dr Radha some time back and looked extensively into her work before almost fixing that she will be my surgeon. I will go to her once again before booking a surgery to have her take a look at my situation so that I may be aware of what to expect before committing. And I must say, my God, your results are awesome. The moment you said you were in the same situation like me and then I saw your "after" pics, I was stunned. I just hope that I get a result like you once done with it, although your hair is coarse which I guess is another good factor for nice coverage.
  20. Thanks for the reply. I do not have any problem in taking the medicines as long as they dont affect me adversely. Considering I take meds, what would be approximate number of grafts you think that would be helpful for me?
  21. Hi everybody, I have been goingg around in this forum from last 10-12 months, reason being the same, have a balding area. I have been contemplating for a transplant since long but now I think it is the time to take the action. So today I got myself an id here and thought of posting a thread for myself. Pardon me if there are any mistakes. I am 28 years old from India and have been experiencing hairfall from last 5 years. I consulted few HT doctors and everybody gave a different count of grafts required. Now, considering it being a big plunge to take, I need guidance from you guys as to what would be the ideal number of grafts be for my situation? Also, do I still have hope for a head full of hair or the situation has gone bad for me? Or maybe there is no hope and I should quit thinking about transplantation anymore? I am attaching my pictures with this post. Please post your comments. Thanks.
