  1. Scalp biopsy? I guess that's your sense of humor. I guess.. I worked in a clinic for several years and after looking at Strata's pic it was the only logical conclusion. Incidentally, you don't have to be an allopath or go to medical school to figure this out... If you look close at that pic, you can see disfigurement and irregular discoloration in the affected area which looked like the result of a recently healed (or healing) infection.. If the area became inflamed and infected to the point that tissue dies causing scarring, yes, you will likely lose some hair as a result. This is what I believe happened. What I don't find logical is an incision was made and his hair fell out leaving large hairless areas. Something else I was wondering is when did he first realize his incision was not healing properly and why didn't he contact the clinic? He should have been more vigilant communicating his complications with CSC instead of allowing the infection to fester to the point of going necrotic. I think this is the risk all clinics take when the patient leaves their care. Cases like these become especially challenging if the patient is from another country, culture, language and resides in another state. His membership says he is from mainland China so maybe there were communication issues. Hard to say but at least this can be fixed and I wish him well as Mandarin was my second language too.
  2. Strata, I'm sure you feel bad and take pride in your appearance but I had to comment based on my own medical knowledge and experience. Your head looks like the result of an untreated infection rather than a surgical error. Makes me question if you followed the post-op instructions and kept the incisions clean with hibicleanse followed with polysporin 3-4x/d as instructed per the post-op kit CSC gave you (I got one too)? Did you fill your prescription for the broad spectrum antibiotic Keflex? If you followed post-op procedures and took the antibiotics I cannot reasonably see how a surgical incision caused your result unless it became infected. I am just curious how your hair fell out like that unless necrosis occurred due to infection? I searched the net and could not find another example of an HT procedure with your results. If you were a little lax in doing what you were supposed to, and not that it matters now but maybe you should take it easy on trashing the clinic for what looks like a case of self-negligence.... And mind you, when I say neglect I mean if you knew your incision wasn't healing and were experiencing unreasonable discomfort i.e., excessive soreness, redness and oozing, you should have contacted the clinic OR SOMEBODY..... Looks like what ever problem you were experiencing at that time you sucked it up and dealt with it when I think you know now you should have said something. I've personally had two procedures in the last year and a half at CSCHI and had good experiences both surgeries. My most recent was last week and could not be more pleased. They also could not have done a better job with 2000 graphs. I read the post-op kit instructions, bought the supplies, followed the directions and cared for the procedure without a hitch. After seven days my graph scabbings are healed and donor site sutures come out next week. Not only did the healing go well but the procedure itself. The graphs were placed for very natural looking hairline and to ensure the maximum density possible. Just what I asked them to do. I would challenge any doctor in the US if they could do better work because I honestly could not have expected better results if I had done it myself. This is what I call value added services on steroids... CSC more than lived up to their end of the procedure. Today I started my six weeks free laser treatments at the clinic. Now it's up to me and my body to start growing some hair.... CSCHI has had a good reputation in Denver for years and I am sorry Strata but your attack of Colorado Surgery Center on this site is anything but the truth. This is an exemplary surgery clinic with an experienced cohesive surgical team doing the same work you could pay four times more elsewhere. You can spend more and get less but but for my money I will continue to use Colorado Surgery Center & Hair Institute for the services they offer because they are the best. I'd be happy to meet anyone interested in seeing my HT graphs you just have to buy me lunch in South Denver. I like Jimmy Johns and Wahoo.
  3. Yeah I thought I might get called out for that, about representing the clinic, but I really don't. I'm no different than anyone else that has used their services. I just thought I understand what they offer better because I am in healthcare and wanted to relay that to people. Someone posted that when you look at CSCHI site and click 'surgeon' it is blank. I don't know who is there now bc I haven't been back since the summer of '13. I based my $8 on the high end because I saw another Doc in Denver charges that for FUE (I'll not do an FUT again). Someone who had work done at that clinic (Dr. James Harris) posted his procedure and cost for the insanely small number of grafts for an astronomical amount... That doctor is making a killing. This is not that complicated a procedure as far as surgeries go. Because more physicians are not offering it is why doctors can get so much money. Time consuming maybe, but difficult no. McTyre knows this all too well and is probably why he charges what he does. I do not know CSCHI status or if Dr. Searle is there but noticed they are offering FUE's but saw no mention of FUT? FYI, this is besides the point but I can figure out the operations of almost any healthcare facility in one visit. It's what I do.
  4. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I went to CSC&HI last year and had an FUT of 1500. I'm also in healthcare and know a little about clinics. I'll tell you about my results later....... Regarding Chris McTyre and CSC&HI he actually does know what he is doing and is as competent as you will find in this line of work. He is a US Navy trained scrub tech with many years of scrub experience for a variety of cases in both the service and civilian acute care facilities. McTyre is also an astute businessman that could probably do hair transplants in his sleep. Is it unusual that a seasoned scrub tech knows as much as a physician about a particular case or procedure? Absolutely not. It is actual very common and is this way in many healthcare disciplines. This is just one of many ways doctors learn procedures, as nurses and doctors share a similar relationship. But this is where the bulk of CSC&HI surgical experience comes from. As another healthcare professional, I am confident Chris McTyre knows it all when it comes to OR and surgery for many cases. I'm not saying you could train a monkey to do this procedure, but am saying this isn't open heart either... Regarding my procedure, under McTyre's consult, Dr. Searle extracted my donor strip and to be honest, I felt Searle was less experienced than I expected. But again, I'll address the end results later. Nothing can be more important than experience when it comes to surgery. And knowing the risks and potential outcomes is paramount because the unexpected should be expected. I have read many different cases where the doc extracting from the donor site had unexpected problems. Were they avoidable problems? Who's to say unless you were there. If normal protocols were followed and problems occurred that is the risk you take. As long as nerves or major blood vessels weren't accidentally cut, closing the incision shouldn't be a problem. If the skin is tight, additional sutures should not be cause for alarm. Suturing is an art form. Some are masters and some people I wouldn't let work on a dog. Searle wasn't the worst, but at that time when he sutured me I felt he could use more experience with this particular case procedure. 18 months and many procedures later, he's probably fine now. Sutures shouldn't be too tight but if they are, no fret. Your skin will eventually relax some and over time the 'lump line' at the closure site should smooth. Don't be afraid to tell Chris if you're not sure about this. And please do not let his type A hyperactive personality fool you, he is completely approachable. He also wants you to feel comfortable using his clinic as there will be follow-up appts and hopefully repeat business. I think Chris also has his own personal story and why he tries his best to make everything right with people. Rumors are that Chris had cancer treatment in the past couple years of which I believe he has cleared but now knows he has a second chance in life and trying to make the best of it. His positive outlook and energy is noticeable. He really is here today because of it and wants to help. This is his calling. My results were less than desired but let's be clear, I have more hair today than I did before the procedure and am absolutely thrilled about it. And I was the laziest patient McTyre could have ever had. After about 18mos my hair is still coming in and stabilizing meaning the scalp has completely recovered from surgical shock and hairs are growing out naturally. But that's me. The procedure will have different result for everyone.. Some will grow more hair and some less. Some will be thicker and some thinner. Your physiology will dictate much of what you end up with. Don't believe everything negative you read about this clinic. If I'm comfortable using this surgery center you should be too because no one is more critical concerning good healthcare delivery than I am. If I thought for one second a clinic I used was not up to the standards I expect, trust me, they would never hear the end of it and there would be hell to pay. CSC&HI is a very clean, organized and professional surgical clinic. Chris McTyre personally trains his medical staff for services that exceed the standards for quality healthcare delivery at a price you cannot beat. Thanks to Colorado Surgical Center & Hair Institute you do not need to pay $8 per hair follicle anymore. -Amen to that.
