  1. Hey,

So I had a HT about a month ago. I'm still delicate when showering, I use minimal water pressure and apply my finger tips gently. It's getting a bit tiresome now though, I'd love to just quickly have a shower and wash my scalp.

Is it ok, at a month post transplant? Or should I continue being gentle and taking my time? At what stage post-op can I just shower and wash my hair like I used to, pre-op?

  2. Hey

Can I just clarify, is the anxiety due to your hair loss? Do you feel anxious about people looking at you when you haven't got a full head of hair? If this is the case I would be concerned as a hair transplant may not solve this deep rooted (no pun intended!) feeling.

If on the other hand your anxiety is not associated with your hair loss, then I feel the advise given above is good, but I would also try and seek professional help. Don't be prevented by the stigma around mental health, there are people out there that can help you. You shouldn't have to feel like this, and social situations can (maybe even should) be one of the things that you, as a human being, enjoy.

    Good luck :D

  3. From what I can gather, it takes longer than 10 days for the hairs to fall out (can take a couple of months for them all to go, and actually some may not fall out at all), so nothing to worry about there.

I really wouldn't recommend wearing a pet on your head - not a good look.

If you want to wear a hat on your head, that would be fine, just be careful taking it off and putting it on.

  4. You guys are complaining about the price of fin in USA! You guys pay peanuts compared to us UK guys!

I currently pay 215 UK sterling for six months supply of brand name propecia ($314). That is on a private prescription from my GP. Its suppose to cost 320 UK sterling ($507) but I know the pharmacy owner, so get a cheaper deal. I was paying 220 UK sterling for 12 months brand name proscar, again on private prescription and switched to 1mg brand name fin a few months ago.

The problem in the UK and NHS is proscar is available on an NHS prescription for men suffering from prostate problems. But not for hair loss. For hair loss you need to get a private prescription. Most GP's usually charge for this (mine doesn't as I been with his surgery for many years). Then the pharmacy sets their own prices for the fin.

If you're in the UK, why don't you get on the Boots Hair Retention programme? They sell propecia for ?360 for a year's worth.

  5. Yes, I seem to have the lowest price for a U.S. company. Nor could I find a Canadian pharmacy that could match that price. But other generic drugs have also been skyrocketing in price of late.

Those affected will have to either bare the price, change to an every-other-day schedule, or revert to the mess of 5mg...:(

What do you mean when you say the mess of 5mg?

  6. Hi,

Could people share their experiences of when their newly transplanted hairs grew? I'm post-op day 7 now and my non-transplanted hair has grown since being buzzed down, but the transplanted hairs haven't. Is this an indication of the transplant not working?

Should they grow, then shed, then be dormant, then grow permanently? Is this the correct order? If there is no initial growth after the operation, does this mean anything?

    Thanks :D

  7. If the crusts still remain after two weeks post-op, then they are ready to come off which will not hurt your grafts in any way.

Many guys find it helpful to do this in the shower after lathering up your scalp and allowing the crusts to soften. Using the pads on your fingertips will dislodge them and then you can resume normal shampooing like you did before your procedure.

    Congrats on your recent procedure...;)

Hey, thanks for your reply. :D

Haven't had the procedure yet. I guess I'm asking, so I consciously try to leave the scabs for two weeks (I can do this if it is the best idea), so I should I wash before this period and get rid of them earlier?

  8. Hi

So the consensus seems to be after two weeks post op, the grafts are firmly secure and you can behave as normal with regards to washing etc. Prior to this period, is it beneficial to avoid the scalp being touched at all? I know many doctors says to wash gently to encourage the scabs to fall off, but if you can avoid washing your scalp for two weeks, would this be detrimental to the transplanted grafts or conversely a good thing?

  9. Hi - unfortunately I don't have any answers for you. You say you've asked your HT doc and that really is the best thing you could do, just await their response and follow their advice.

Dependant upon the advise given re: accutane and the HT, could you consider a different acne treatment?

It would be great if you could both update this thread with your doctor's response and also provide the links from the research that you did.

    Good luck.

  10. No real good options in the UK I'm affray Sam. You need to consider Lorenzo (Spain) and three surgeons in Belgium.

Does propecia interact with the drugs you have to take? Most surgeons advise on taking propecia to prevent any further loss.

The price depends on how much you need done. Your next step is to make contact online with the doctors and they will ask for several photos. They can then give an approximate cost.

  11. Hi everybody,

This last week I've had two consultations, one with Lorenzo and one with Bisanga. Donor area is 80 hairs per cm squared and hairs are 50 microns (both docs stated the same). Bisanga though thought I wasn't a good candidate as I have miniaturisation of 22%. Lorenzo never mentioned this and I never asked - although he said my donor is sufficient for FUE.

Now I'm unsure what to do - do I just accept that I can't have a hair transplant (based on what Bisanga said) or should I go with Lorenzo? I really respected Bisanga for telling me this, but has he got a reputation of being over cautious?

Any advice people could give would be really appreciated.

    Thanks.
