Yes alcohol can negatively affect the grafts but at two months post-op you should be safe.
I would use it sparingly until around 6 months though, just to be on the safe side or use it on areas not transplanted.
Hi - thanks for your reply.
Is there any evidence about this?

Hi everyone,
Does anyone know if alcohol in hair products is harmful for hair transplants? Two months post op I started using hair spray with alcohol in it. Never thought to check the ingredients. Been using it for months! Anyone know if it could effect growth?
Thanks

Was there a process during the extraction which enabled you to know what was happening? In my operation every time a graft was taken a little click happened and a counter increased by 1. This has to take place because whoever is doing the extraction isn't obviously expected to mentally count.

Hey,
So I had FUE and I'm fairly happy with the result.
I've started using wax to style my hair, first i rub the wax on my hands, then I put my hands through my hair. When I do this I notice some hairs fall out and stick to my hands due to the stickiness of the wax. So, I have two questions:
a) This is normal, right? That I've had FUE poses no problem to styling in this way?
b) Am I right in thinking, even if I didn't use wax, these hairs would fall out anyway?
Thanks

You should have quantified in your first post that you are talking specifically about US presidents, as there has in fact been plenty of bald presidents. There is a world outside of the US.

Based on your photos I would definitely not get a HT. Your hair is fine and looks thick. Stop thinking about it and turn your attention to something else. You have no hair related problem!
-
Based on what you've said and how it makes you feel, I would do it. Remember, you're asking a largely biased audience here, many of us have had HT. Maybe ask someone you can trust who doesn't suffer from hair loss to even out the advice.
Also pictures would help anyone give good advice...we could look at pictures and straight away think you don't need one.

I'm at 2 months and my redness is comparable, so I don't think there is any issue there.
I can't see any scars or anything that looks abnormal. You're being your biggest critic!
-
The consensus is that at 10 days your grafts are completely secure...but you will likely find hair on your pillow that appear to look like grafts, especially when they have skin attached to them. Don't worry though this is just part of the normal shedding process.

Hi everyone,
2 months post op FUE. Is it normal to experience slight pain in the recipient while exercising? The pain is very slight, or maybe some kind of tingling sensation. It's only when my heart rate is increased; exercise, running for the tube...that kind of thing.
Any similar experiences or thoughts would be gratefully received.

My post care instructions say 5 months to avoid the sun, so by this estimation you'll be fine. I think people actually don't really know; there's just a sense that sunburn can damage the grafts and thus it should be avoided. If you do lots of research you'll find the odd reputable doctor saying he had a case where a patient of his got a really bad sunburn a couple of days after the procedure and consequently didn't experience any growth.....but so far I haven't read anything about a patient getting sunburnt so long after and not experiencing growth. It's guesswork I'm afraid to say.
Besides, at 6 months, haven't most of the grafts already grown?

Hi guys,
I'm about 7 weeks post op. No scabs left and lots (but not all) of shedding has already taken place.
I'm still being gentle when I wash. During showering, as i'm not rigorously massaging my scalp (just touching with the pads of my fingers) dead skin has built up. I've started to peal it off, and when it comes off, it always has hairs in it, sometimes multiple hairs. Is this ok? Is it ok to peal the skin off?
No bleeding occurs. Pretty sure it's ok at this stage, but just wanted to double check.
Thanks

Do not expose your recipient area to direct sunlight UVA rays.
Hi Gillenator,
Just curious, is there a reason why you specifically mention UVA? What about UVB? Are you aware of something that suggests UVA is more harmful?

The terrorism threat is only increased along the south eastern border with Syria and Iraq. Antalya is a long way from there. I've actually been along the Syrian & Iraqi border and even then it was completely fine.
Any terrorism that takes place away from the south eastern border (for example in places like Istanbul, Ankara or Antalya for that matter), could happen anywhere in the world. If official reassurance would ease you check your country's government foreign office website for Turkey. The British one (FCO) confirms everything I've written.

Looks good...any before pics?
Good luck.

Do they have a white head? My doctor's post-op instructions say this could be a side effect. It instructs patients to squeeze them. I did.
The pain goes pretty soon after squeezing and there is a little scab for a few days. Nothing serious to worry about.

Hi,
I remember coming across a very comprehensive and detailed thread that focussed on the common and rare side effects of FUE, but I can't find it anywhere now. Does anyone know what I am referring to and could provide a link?
Thanks

I spent months trying to find out everything about the doctor I eventually went with. My advice would be to not go to a doctor if you can't find a majority of positive reviews and photographic evidence of his/her work. Also, you want multiple reviews and photos, not just the odd one.
I'd say cancel it. Risk loosing your deposit. Do in-depth research about particular doctors and then make your choice.

Gillenator, Bill, David, Clinicbychoice41: thanks for your help guys

Sorry I should have added it's for a workout programme with an accompanying nutritional plan.

Also consider Lorenzo in Spain. From the UK you can get a ?60 return flight, that's cheaper than many train tickets!
If you can't afford someone who you personally feel is a good surgeon you should wait until you can afford it, going with someone just because they're cheap would be a mistake (although going with someone who is both cheap and good is obviously an ideal scenario). Good luck

Hey Gillenator - yes all crusts gone now and it's looking clean

Why don't you want to go abroad? I'm English but went abroad. Europe has some of the best in Bisanga, Feriduni and Lorenzo, but you need to take a plane ride mate. it's worth it for better results.

Hey,
So I had a HT about a month ago and I've been taking finasteride for about 5 years.
I've never really looked into the effects finasteride had on testosterone and throughout these five years I've worked out. Now I've had a HT I'm taking things more seriously.
I know this has been discussed before, I tried through searching to find a particular thread that had lots of great info in about testosterone, working out, DHT, etc etc. I can't find it now though. If anyone recalls a thread of this nature and could post the link that would be great.
Do you think that increasing testosterone through natural means, like fish oil supplements for example, is a bad idea?
a)if on fin, would it actually be pointless because fin would just prevent the increased testosterone being converted into DHT?
b)would it be a bad idea as the increased testosterone would be too much for the fin to handle and would thus result in increased hair loss?
Any info or links to previous useful threads would be great (like I said I did search but can't find it).
Thanks

Thanks - what makes a shampoo or hair product harsh? I don't brush my hair at all.
When the hair falls out there is no blood, it looks completely normal. Just like it did before the op.
I'm 6 months post-op.
Thanks!
