  1. Thanks. Now I am waiting for it to thicken up and to get some length in my hair to see how much I can cover my crown
  2. Yes. Dr K did tell me to take Fin but I was against it. I had taken Minox like 6 months back before the transplant and now I started getting acne. I am not sure if its related to this but I never had acne in my life before and the only things I had taken recently was Minox and Nizoral both of which I have stopped temporarily now. I am not that greedy of a person for hair ( hope I wont change my statement later when I have further loss ). I know I wont take any meds which might have the possibility of a side effect. I will try to use concealers on my crown as long as I can along with growing out my hair longer and combing it back ( which i like ). Lets see how long I can push it. And dr K said I have good caliber hair. And another 3000+ easily available. So I am going to use it very carefully later on. Very much later on as my face has been framed well as of now .
  3. I felt so lazy and was totally busy which made me not spend time to take some good quality pics. But something is better than nothing so I took a few from my phone. So finally had a haircut after 4.5 months. Feels good to be normal again without the hanging gardens of hair on my sides Did not touch my top transplanted hair during the haircut. There is a slight transition of hair on the back where the donor hair was taken from after the haircut but its very negligible.
  4. Sorry guys. Had been busy of late. Took a few pics with my iphone before the haircut. I am pleased so far with the results.
  5. Looking good. Looks like the scar has healed very well. Did you know the shockloss had gone before you went to the barber?
  6. So finally I have hit the month 3 mark and I can say I am finally seeing some growth on my hairline and my new hairline is almost visible to me now . I can say now I look like someone with hairloss rather than a bald person. I still look like how I was before the transplant. Once the hairline thickens up, i think the difference would kick in. I am waiting for the 5 month mark so that i can go and have a haircut and cut off the sides as the sides seems to grow 2X times the top hair.I don't want to cut the sides now as it might expose the shock loss around the donor area. I spread out my hair ( whatever hair I have ) and go for work. But once its brought close together, you can see I still have a big area to cover. Hopefully Dr K's magic will become obvious in the coming 2 months.
  7. Nice change in hair around the donor area this month. Covering up nicely. Is the current hairline what was planned or is the new hairline yet to come?
  8. I had my surgery on a Thursday. So took Thu and Fri off. Travelled back from chicago on Sat and took 3 days work from home. So in short managed to squeeze in a week without going to office. One thing I wanted to make sure was to avoid even wearing a cap for the 1st week. Even while buying food near the clinic or walking in the motel, i was without a cap. I knew places near Konior's office would be used to seeing patients like me so it did not bother me a bit
  9. I too felt the pea sized lump on the left end of my donor in the begining. But it's been reducing in size over time so i guess it would just even out in a couple of months as a part of the healing process.
  10. For my surgery, when I went to my boss to ask for leave, I told him I was going to have a small surgery and that I would require a couple of days off. He was like how can you say its small and will 2 days be enough for you ?. I figured out he too was thinking 'brain' surgery
  11. Yes, I understood that most of the things heal over a period of time. So I am not too worried about the donor for now @ Bismarck and GBU. Rambler, that makes me feel good knowing there's one more in my same boat. It would look better if I trim off the sides now to make it even but it would expose the donor which I don't want to. So I will continue this until I feel my donor has fully been covered. And Month 4 would be the next milestone of mine to see some noticeable growth including the temple
  12. Month 2 was great for me as most of the initial fear phase of, Is the scar swelling, am i careful about the transplanted hair, being very conscious about what other's might think, has subsided quite a big. My pre op hair has come to my rescue at a good pace and i guess in month 4, i would have hair good enough to cover my baldness to a bit with toppik. I stopped using toppik by week 5 at the donor and I just go like this and I make sure i dont walk in front of people. And even if they see, they might think it's some weird hairstyle. I am fine with people thinking I am bald at this point, but don't want them to know I had a transplant:D I also stopped using aloe vera gel at week 5 as I did not find my scalp red anymore. At the donor area, when I lifted the hair and took a pic (pic included) there seems to be some shock loss. I hope its shock loss and not a stretched scar as I have not started my gym routine after the transplant. Taking pics by myself is becoming a headache but I will continue to do so till month 12. And I am also finding this site much faster than before . I have included a comparison set of pics to see the changes between the months. Hope it might be helpful. Summary *Pre Op hair growing fast *Stopped aloe vera at 5 weeks as redness went *Stopped toppik at 5 weeks *Crown hair seems to grow in more than what i noticed in 1st month. I am sure I had way more hair in the crown before the transplant.
  13. rev333, I just took the pics after shower now. I think the left side and the back looks good. But am i correct in noticing a small level of hair loss on my right side of the donor (last pic) ?
  14. Though you are shedding hair,I can see that you are still maintaining the hairline you transplanted. Thats a lucky thing. I have lost my hairline and it's not a good sight to see scattered hair growing back but then its hair, so am happy:D
  15. Thanks for your comment hairfarmer. If not for this forumn and its members, I would have really thought I have lost all of my hair forever lol, but thanks to you all, i know its expected . I am waiting for that 4-6 month time frame to get back my mood to socialize again and do some real shopping in the 8-12 month mark
  16. The mayans predicted it. The surgeons confirmed it. The patients re confirmed it. And I just went through it :eek: Shockloss and hair going to resting phase  I feel like am carrying some dirt on my head now and I have never seen myself as ugly as this before lol. Luckily this has been the best time to join a new working place. No one had seen me before the transplant and one bothers about my head and i guess I am the only one bothering about it. I go to the restroom like atleast 5-6 times a day, only to check how my head is looking ;P As of now all I am waiting for is to get back the hair I had before, so that I could atleast cover a bit.I guess right now I look like a norwood 5 or 6. I am not able to apply toppik on my hair now as it really looks like dirt. I also started using aloe vera gel since last week as I had noticed redness occuring on my head. I am staying alone as of now due to work and so i had to take the pics myself. Sorry if it did not come well or if I did not cover all proper angles. Tried my best. Changes i noticed this month ** very small hair growth (only my existing hair) **the transplanted hair seems to have all shed. **seems like I had shock loss as i had diffused hair loss and had to be transplanted in between the hairs **seems like my crown lost hair too. Not sure if I had this extent of hair loss in my crown before the transplant. **noticed small islands of hair where my pre existing hair slowly started growing. My doctor said those were the areas I actually had some hair left lol. ** numbness in the donor area reducing and kind of able to sleep on my back head at times. ** itching at the donor area. I guess it might be a sign of healing. ** redness reducing. Maybe due to aloe vera gel that I am applying.
  17. Its been a month now and the more I waited, the lesser it's seeming to a bump. I am kind of sure now that it's just the shape of my skull and the tenderness which was there, made it appear to me as a bump. The lesser the numbness, the more familiar the donor area skull shape seems to be for me. So I guess, the topic of this question itself might be wrong as it does not seem to be a bump anymore . Thanks for everyone's response which really did help me come out of the panic situation. You guys are great
  18. Thanks for the comforting words hairfarmer. I knew I would have some shock loss, but looking at my head now, i feel like going and hiding in a cave for the next 3-4 months lol.. Now I see how hair can transform the look of a person to a very great extend, can take him to a very great level, and a very low level too like me but I am keeping my spirits up in the hope that things will take a U turn very soon
  19. So I joined my new company on Monday and boy o boy, I have never seen myself balder in my life.I think my transplanted hair is falling off at an ultra pace and i might have some shockloss too as I never remember seeing myself this bald. I knowingly kept the side and back hair a little thicker than the top (blade 3) so that it would be less obvious when i apply toppik to conceal the scar. The scar concealment pretty much worked well and the only problem with that hair extra hair around was it made my top look even balder and me even older. But I am fine with it as of now since I did not want to answer any questions which would lead them to know I did a hair transplant. Only one lady kept looking at my head while talking to me but then she was like in her 50's so I dont care much lol.So far I have jelled in myself with the people around me and made sure I am not aware of my hair transplant and super ugly head so as to keep up my positive spirit .I will update with pics in 2 days ( 1 month mark).
  20. Good choice of surgeon buddy. Dr K's work is very clean. My donor scar is healing super fast and even using my dslr cam, I have to zoom in really much to find a trace of the scar. The first day after removing my sutures ( day 12), my bro was finding it difficult to find the scar and I was like, dude check where I have short hair, the scar would be somewhere there
  21. So I had my haircut today. I don't think I can carry out this look without a hat when I for work to my new work place on Monday as my top looks really odd with scattered hair.I don't find all of them with equal length and I might end up wearing a hat . I know I had entered my ugly duckling phase like 10 years back when I started loosing hair but I guess now I am in some super ugly duckling phase . I was able to kind of hide the donor scar with toppik and then had some fun with it too as you can see in the last 2 pics My donor area is giving an illusion to me of it being having a bump on top of it. I guess time would heal it. I am still waking up in between at night to change my position. So just worried about the donor side for now and hoping it to heal soon but i guess the donor is what heals the last
  22. Ingrown hair/pimple comes later right? Not 3 weeks into the surgery ? And its not a pimple. I guess it might be my skull shape too lol as I have read they take the donor strip right below a part of the skull. So that skull shape along with the numbness along with the sudden dip in hair ( where donor hair was taken) is giving me an illusion of it being a bump. I think I will wait and see how things turn out. Thanks for the reply
  23. Thanks for the reply. It is actually little numb over there and maybe you are right as you said about the swelling part due to the procedure and not an unusual bump. I had sent some pics over to my doc and he said he did not see anything that he thinks is of concern and to meet him in person if i feel otherwise. I will wait for a few days/weeks and see if i notice any changes. Again, thanks for the reply.
  24. Looks pretty concealed. It would get much better in 4 days. Seems like you are all set for a grand entry to your work place
