But then you're like me where you get the HT but still are losing hair, then it looks really bad because of the noticeable split between new hair and previous hairline
what about maintenance procedures? aren't you planning on doing more HT to maintain an optimal look?
-
so, this makes me think of Joe Biden...
his hairline seems to low to have an empty crown...
but with a mature hairline, I feel like an empty crown could be more acceptable.
the Modern Family actor you posted above, looks good.. and with your argument regarding framing the face, you kinda sold me on the idea.

itching, dandruff could definitely be related to the sudden hairloss that you are experiencing...
If Hrsp21 can chime in here, I think that with his experience with scalp condition and hair loss, he could shed light on your issue (try PM-ing him).
how many hairs are you losing? is it noticeable? what is the percentage of the transplanted hairs you are losing?
-
Hair loss happens a lot during our lives, in a sense it has hit me a lot more than twice
Slowly losing some from MPB, also some from scalp eczema, then having a great HT and then temporarily losing the transplanted hairs (natural occurrence ) having it grow in then losing some from Nizoral overuse (no other shampoos worked for me and could not go to work with white sh#t in my hair) and or Fin sheds, having another HT losing those initial hairs, then having it grow back it, seasonal sheds, sheds from restarting Fin blah blah .
The important thing is that you either take a proactive approach with HT's, SMP or meds or just shave it off and forget about it.
Not being in control is the worse part for sure, so take control
well said.. looks like I'm still in for a ride of ups and downs after my 1st HT, but at least I know to expect more downs along the way..

I would cut into 1/4ths and not worry about getting a little more than the 1.25mg one day, a little less than the 1.25 mg another day... I think Rassman had done a study years ago saying that the difference is negligible and it averages out in your bloodstream anyway..
-
That's a good point Akash...
how long were you depressed about it before you took action?
I'm assuming you've gotten your hair loss under control now.. is that right?

Paulygon, Is that really you in the photo?
Yes.. though It makes me feel a little uneasy looking back.. and seeing my scalp in that condition. Glad I did it though.
-
Looks like a clean job. I anticipate good results! congrats.

From what I've heard and read, 3 weeks of use doesn't seem to have hair restoration effects.. 3 weeks is enough cause the scalp itchiness, but wouldn't impact or reduce shedding.
So I think that any use of Minox for 3 weeks is like nothing happened...
Unless, I am reading the facts from your statement incorrectly, I think that your hair is probably shedding at the same rate as before use of Minox.

I also look a million times better.. my parents were recently looking at my photos pre-HT and had gotten very emotional about how "bad" I looked.. of course, I did not want to be reminded about my baldness.. but they are right.. it was one of the best investments I've ever made in myself.
I'm happy I bought time.. the question is just how much time did I buy.. anyway, I do plan on filling in gaps with future procedures and my surgeon says my donor quality is very good so I shouldn't worry about ever being completely bald as long as I maintain my hair with HT's. Heck, I have no problem with that; I just have to remember to budget for it.

I think everyone is different. I am generally optimistic by nature so I was hopeful and just let it grow.. it is much easier that way.

I dated a woman one time who told me "you know, you'd be really good looking if you had more hair." I felt like saying "we'll you'd be really sweet if you weren't such a bitch." Some people just don't think before they speak.
You should've said it.. she'd probably would have loved it!
I think the woman you were with may have just been giving you a compliment and I would take it as just that and a testament to the good work you had done. We tend to think that women who say they'll never be attracted to a balding guy are shallow but I must admit that I would never be attracted to an over weight woman, so it just depends on personal preferences.
hmm.. I don't see a balding man being analogous to being an overweight woman.. I hope I'm not the only one that doesn't equate the two. Being overweight generally is within a person's control.. whereas hair loss is much less controllable... this is thought-porovoking nevertheless..
good thread!

It's something called hair shaft diameter (caliber) and IMHO the single most critical factor to be considered when determining graft counts and attaining the illusion of coverage...
Yes! ur right

How long has it been since you quit the meds? If that correlation is suspected by 2 physicians, quit it and monitor your levels..

I lose 30 hairs a day in the shower and have been doing so for years and years and have a pretty decent head of hair so far. My guess is that you were losing more than you thought before. You should be losing between 50 and a 100 a day. Keep us updated on your condition.
I lose about 50 a day in the shower and when applying Minox.
It is very possible OP's issue is related to stress from surgery.

I would recommend using the medications for at least a year before you make any decisions with regard to HT procedure. That is generally standard practice.
-
where did you find the surgeon?
"an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"
definitely go to a recommended surgeon.. you wanna get the HT right the first time!!
-
I think it looks good. no reason to worry.. I didn't see pics of the crown.. but as far as the front/hairline, no need to worry IMO.
-
saw it. your red dots look like mine.. those are clean. will be gone in a week.
-
where are your photos? I can't find any?
-
I had FUT, I mean when I was looking at the recipient area and some areas looked like tiny red dots rather than the slight inflamed pink look of everywhere else
mine looked kind of like what you're saying.. i had tiny red dots.. people in this community said that it looked like a "clean job". I was happy with the results.. see pic I attached.. are your red dots similar?

Happy for you! When Dr. Parsa Mohebi transformed me from a baldy to a handsome dude with style-able hair... man, my life changed.. more women, more confidence in business and more income... I hope this procedure does the same for you.. that your lifestyle changes... use your new super powers for good!

very nice! a good transplant is life-changing. I am sure your patients are very happy. Take it from me, when Dr Parsa Mohebi turned me from a bald nerdy guy to a handsome dude with good hair, my lifestyle changed for the WAY better. Keep up the good work!! Thanks

My HT surgeon, Dr. Mohebi, worked under Rassman for a number of years before starting his own clinic.
Since I knew that Rassman was an HT pioneer, I was very interested to learn more about Mohebi's work; that was an attractive selling point.
I've also heard good things about Dr Pak.
