  1. Honestly this is how I feel about it:

Clinic before surgery: "other than Sun/UV and injury within the first days NOTHING can harm your grafts or outcome."

Clinic AFTER surgery: "EVERYTHING could harm your grafts from breathing the wrong air to sweating in the wrong moment. Good bye and good luck!"

  2. There's a huge difference between the post op guides of each clinic.

I assume the main reason for this is simply because there has not been done enough research on graft survival factors post op.

There's one clinic that doesn't allow you to fly for more than 16 hours within the first 10 days because the cabin pressure reduces oxygen supply which kills grafts. Others think grafts are secure after 5 days so ultimately you're not sure what to think really.

In general I wish post op guides would be more thorough and warn patients to watch out for certain skin conditions like lichen planopilaris ect. Most guides don't even mention folliculitis which is quite common apparently.

  3. I highly doubt any surgeon that has followed Paleo would agree to take him on as a patient. Just read his initial posts - he is just not psychologically fit to have this type of elective surgery, even if it's a repair. Sorry Paleo, I really feel for you, and the pictures are not looking positive at all. I wonder if your depression and your state of mind is partially to blame, but at he same time, not looking good for the clinic at all. It was such a small area that was covered, so I would expect to see much better than that. Paleo, not much I can say to make this better for you, and I respect what you have done here by exposing this clinic. I would focus on fixing the emotional problems, and only then, once you are in a better frame of mind should you pursue repair work.

I don't think saying paleo is psychologically unfit is a fair call. He invested 1 year of his life researching and saving up money. Another year waiting, hoping, and only getting a disappointing result. That would take a toll on anyone.

He surely is vindictive and deservedly so. At least he got the machine turning!

He made it crystal clear that we should question tech mills, esp those with motorised FUE! Even if they scored a recommendation on this forum.

  4. Paleo, I hope this forum will help you in finding a good repair doc. I hope one of the docs here will chime in for an assesment and strategy plan. The clinic's response is a joke. And breaching privacy to add insult to injury. Unbelievable. Hope you get a full refund AND some compensation.

At this stage HTN should really reconsider it's approach to recommending Docs with those kind of results and way of doing business. Just saying.

  5. Bill, no disrespect, but you found the following explanations satisfactory?

    1) he poured gasoline over his head by mistake

    2) he either masterbated or had sex, but the doctor doesn't know which one?

I am quite disappointed that the moderators accept this as a reason for poor growth. Either because it's pretty laughable OR because this forum repeatedly failed to warn us of the implications of jerking off post op. Basically no post op guides warn patients about this. Let's be honest the likelihood that you masturbate when you're in the hotel room totally bored for days is HUGE. If this really is an issue I feel let down by this community big time. The theory is that your grafts will pop because of the blood flow when you ejaculate...

Re. the "gasoline story"... The guy had a drop of antifreeze on his head two weeks post op. I looked it up. So much for "your grafts are safe after 9 days". If the moderators accept this theory, this forum should reconsider the advise it preaches.

  6. Sorry but you need to chill. Nearly everybody sheds - those are the rules of the game. Doing a HT with the expectation not to shed is as unrealistic a playing lottery with the expectation to hit the jack pot.

It's now a waiting game - as it is for everybody else. There plenty of threads here that documents how shedded native hairs grow back as well.

  7. Bill, I really appreciate that you've been posting some of the explanations for poor growth. But if you accept these reasons as legitimate causes for sub par results, this site needs to do a MUCH better job communicating these so prospective patients are prepared for post-op recovery.

The "sex post-up/graft popping" thing was raised recently but then dismissed as a joke.

Every clinic has quite different post op instructions, maybe there should be an ultimate post op guide complied by this site that covers all risks. Patients could rely on that one and their clinics's guides for a best practice approach.

I still find it very hard to believe that this one patient came so hard that his grafts literally popped up! Or the patient actually admitting that!

Physical damage (eg trauma) by a sex partner is another matter.

  8. Wow never heard the "4 weeks no hats rule" and "no flying = air pressure = graft killer" rule.

Same for the no hair under water for 1 year rule....

I hope this is cray cray and not new stuff to be paranoid over....

I only waited out 5 days till I was on a 24 hr flight...

Then again this clinic is known for lousy results so I hope their post op manual editor is as lousy as their docs.

  9. Guys,

I am still in the process of speaking with the surgeon and the clinic privately. I did receive an exclamation of all 12 to 15 cases people had concerns about. I have asked the clinic to provide a public explanation, however I am still discussing other things with the clinic privately.

I am dying to know what these explanations were. Did they all suffer from lichen planopilaris or unique freak/mutant physiology? Went to the solarium 3 days post up and got fried?

Sarcasm aside what could possibly these satisfactory explanations be? For educational purposes, patients and forums readers should know why growth can be poor.

It feels like before surgery, patients are often sold the concept "if surgery is done by an expert, yield will be at least 90 percent"... Once the scabs come off after day 10 it seems like there are many untold secrets impacting growth... It's really frustrating.
