  1. Just 3 days shy of the 9th month mark.

To be honest, I couldn't really see any difference hair wise compared to my first transplant. I mean, the visual appearance. This could be because I had so much hair prior the second surgery. So the past few months, I had been disheartened by the progress. Thus didn't bother updating my thread.

Only recently whilst trying out different hair styles I have noticed the benefit of my second surgery. And the fuller appearance of hair. Looking closely at the hair line, I still see small black dots coming out which I assume are new hairs. Its more evident on the right side of the hair line. Also the new hair are kinky and wiry. I still have another 9 months of growth and maturation left, which exactly what I experienced during my first transplant. Its a nice straight hair line which compliments my already great temples peaks, temples points and temple triangles.

The other thing I was worried about that I had been kicking my self in not lowering the hair line MORE. I believed my forehead was too long and this was back in August time so around 4-5 months of the second surgery. I had private conversations with Spanker, he is an credit to this forum, who mentioned I am only at 5 months and due to the lack of density in the hair line, I believed I had forehead issues. He had assured me once its gets better, I will change my mind...and I have. So kudos to Spanker.

From harassing Sevinc (my coordinator ) with my messages the past few weeks that I am worried about the lack of growth, this beautiful women has always assured me. She mentioned because its my second surgery, sometimes second surgeries tend to grow slow.

I can pull off different hair styles which I haven't done the past 10 years such as the side part, slicked back look (only last week I went to work and my colleagues said "Elvis is back from the dead!"). The current plan is to grow out my hair till April which will be the 12th month mark and hopefully get an disconnected undercut hair cut.

  2. HTsoon, Dr Lorenzo uses the Lion Pen which is an modified version of the Choi pen.

Yes it is interesting to see the study. He got 100% with both forceps and with KEEP. But with KEEP the grafts grow out better. I think thats why he has switched to KEEP from now on. To be honest, I can't fault the quality of my hair from my second surgery but he must have seen something.

KO, not sure about that but the study he posted and the reason he switched to KEEP is for better graft quality growth wise.

  3. Hmmm so all previous patients were only getting 65% regrowth ?? If you have improved your regrowth rate might you now start using less grafts in your procedures ? Also are there any limitations with regards to hair caliber ? Can the KEEP be used with say 35 or 40 microns hairs ? Either way this looks a good innovation and if it has improved regrowth rate then that's a good thing :)

No. Dr Erdogan is explaining the growth rate in curved grafts, not the overall percentage in their cases. I am an previous patient as you know (8 months post op second surgery). I believe all my grafts grow from my first surgery (consisting how bad my loss was). And my second surgery so far has exceeded my expectations.

  4. The growth has began. I finally have reached the 6 months mark and it is looking good. Left side is really catching up compared to the right side now. My hair has grown to a insane length which it has not for many years. My younger brother said long hair does not suit me at all. I would have cut it shorter but I am merely admiring the growth. Still have a long way to go in terms of maturation and can still see some grafts coming out (much more evident on the left side). So far I am happy and glad I let Dr Erdogan do his thing consisting the graft numbers and systematically of the hairline and temples. Still have many positive months to look forward to.

  5. Your hair looks good. Transplanted hair will never match natural density. Certain lightening and wet hair will always make it appear less dense. The bonus is no one walks around with wet hair... Second issue is the lack of space to create new incisions in an hairline which has already been densely packed. You could damage previous grafts or could compromise the area due to lack of blood flow. Your photos are not really clear and we can't see close ups of the hairline to assess the area.

  6. Even more kudos when he cough up evidence of others who still have invisible hair after 5 months but still lands impressive hair after 18 months. Noone is saying it will not improve over the next year, BUT... Nvm, No need to repeat the obvious.

5 months is nothing and many would say this is when patients start to see new hairs, but it is not mature. Let me ask you this, have you had surgery yourself? I have had 2 surgeries and both times 5 months for me was just the beginning in noticing the new hair. Right now, I am 5 months and 2 weeks through my second transplant and I am seeing new changes every week. It has been much more noticeable now.

  7. Hi everyone. I haven't been on the forum for a while; just enjoying life and trying to put the second transplant behind my head. Unfortunately, despite going through the same experience and knowing what lies ahead didn't stop me from panicking and getting worried.

I have been really critical regarding growth from the right side of the head. The second surgery goal was to enforce more density in the area and in the crown. From my research, crown grafts take the longest to show which I aren't really bothered about. What is worrying me is the area which lacks hair and density (as shown in the pics). I think I am getting my pants wet for no reason at all. I only hit 18 weeks this week and it is still early stages. I messaged my patient liaison who has assured me I am at early stages of growth.

Some good points: the temples are looking excellent, the left hair line is coming along nicely and the left side of head till it meets the middle part all looks like natural density.

Some pics for you guys with wet hair...I haven't styled my hair likes this since I was 17!

  8. You yourself have admitted erectile difficulties on the drug.

Please read my post again. I ALREADY had erectile problems years before I started on fin. I have been on fin for 3 years and I have NOT experienced worse off erectile problems whilst using fin. I still have morning wood. It is only during sex; the same experience BEFORE starting fin

  9. Shampoo. Of course medications can have side effects. But my issue with fin is that the benefit/risk analysis in my mind is that for what is fundamentally for cosmetic purposes and not for medical reasons it should not be on the market if there is a risk that it can cause permanent harm, no matter how small. Also, Merck weren't honest with you and didn't conduct a proper safety evaluation of its product and also didn't reveal until years later that sexual dysfunction may not resolve (as one example of their duplicity). I would be happier if it was a level playing field, but it is not. Despite not having side effects now, side effects can occur on cessation, much like SSRIs. This is education, not scare mongering.

Erectile Dysfunction and Low Sex Drive Inadequately Reported in Hair Loss Drug Trials for Men: Northwestern University News

Here my two cents. I have been on fin for nearly 3 years now. I am an healthy 27 year old. Before starting fin I had erection problems. Three years down the line and on fin, I still have erection problems. Erection problems I still have to do this day. By taking cialis pills its all fine. No other sides at all such as member shrinkage, aged skin. I strongly believe fin has kept me looking like a 21 year old. People cannot believe I am nearly 28. I think it is wrong to blame the usage of fin causes certain sides; there are millions of men out there who take fin; every med has its own share of problems. My father had cardiac problems. The pills he takes improves his quality of life even though they give him sides such as muscle weakage and soreness.

  10. Just over 11 weeks. Can already see some new hairs sprouting from the new hair line but still early days. It looks very promising. Been to the stylist yesterday. Just to be caution, I got grade 2 blended in with 0.5. No signs of scarring or donor depletion at all. My usual cut before my second surgery was grade 1 blended with 0.5. Will try this next time just to see if any scarring is visible. Anyway I am looking back to pre-op stage; please note this is all my old hair which has grown back. I wonder how it be in an few months time when the new grafts should have sprouted!
