  1. Good results for 6 months and only 3.5k grafts. Your new growth looks very natural and the way your hair is styled backwards suits you very well in my opinion. Might just be me but i can't even see the scar line in in your donor area, either way that's a good thing Best of luck with any future growth, a bit more density and you will be spot on.
  2. Picked up some blood test results today. Iron and thyroid levels normal. Vit D defficient (not too low though). Was given 50,000 IU pills to take once a week. Highly doubt it will help my hair but i wouldnt mind if it helped in other areas such as skin etc
  3. Just some pics incase anyone wants to see. No transplant done on crown. Also been on dutasteride/biotin/nizoral for about 2 months. I believe month 2 is highest point of shed for dutasteride. Looking forward to months 6-8. My hair is trimmed short all around for now (2-2.75 guard) and i will most likely keep this look after new hair is out but might experiment with longer hair. Will keep you updated.
  4. Cloudy i sent you a PM. It took Clemens an average of 2-3 days to get back to me. Might take longer if its a weekend. You can always try calling him if you want. Hairytime, thank you. Before you make your final decision, i suggest you consult Demirsoy or his agent about his patient care policy if he has one. I did not get into much detail with him about this because my donor supply was limited to 1 session only which means that any future work would require BHT anyway. Demirsoy does not do any kind of BHT unfortunately. Also, i scanned through and signed a short contract prior to surgery. I believe it mentions the obvious risks of folliculitis, scarring, etc. and states that the doctor cannot be held accountable for certain things. Try and get a better idea as to whether you would get any kind of support/fix if things go wrong. As you are probably aware by now, Demirsoy is not recommended by this forum yet. Not that it should discourage you though as there are many potential great doctors out there that have yet to be discovered. Best of luck!
  5. Hello, not too much to report. Had the procedure done on 25th of June so today is a little over 2 months. Getting slight early growth here and there (nothing too drastic) but can tell that the hairs coming out are new due to thickness/feel when rubbing my scalp. Donor/recepient back to normal for a long time now, not even the slightest redness. Will update with pictures at 3 or 4 months when i see some significant changes. hairytime, i would rather not mislead people and overhype a doctor before i get a chance to see my own results. So far i am happy with the doctor's high professionalism and his involvement in most of the procedure. His work is very clean and i had minimal downtime after procedure. When i get my hair ill start bombarding random threads with "DEMIRSOY FOR PRESIDENT!!" like a fanboy
  6. Dutasteride usually comes in liquid gel capsule form not powder like fin. *edit* The generic version Duprost is also liquid gel capsule similar to Avodart. You might be able to find other generics that come in powder form though, do a google search.
  7. kokosam and KO thank you both for your advice. KO, you are correct about the buzz cut. I plan to keep my hair real short just like in the pictures i posted of 2 weeks post op. Also i have high hopes that dutasteride will do some work in the crown area. Thanks again guys.
  8. Hey guys, i would like a little bit of input regarding my sides. Below are some pictures of my horrible thinning pre-op. Just to clarify, i did not have any HT work done prior to these pictures being taken (no meds either). Pictures were taken at Demirsoy's office right before my shave/surgery. Also, i originally didn't want to post these as to avoid any criticism from the community wether it be towards Demirsoy performing this operation on a non-ideal candidate or my willingness to have it done. Call me a fool all you want, but believe me i have done my research and was not willing to go back home empty handed. Simply put, i wanted to make the best out of what i had now and not think too much of the future (although highly likely that the future will come biting me in the ass if my sides recede as i will have to resort to BHT). This is also the reason i have hopped on Dutasteride immediately after the HT. Demirsoy was not happy to perform on me nor did he want to really... His whole staff advised against it, the agent, the techs, and so on.. It was my desperation and persistance that made him finally agree to use limited grafts as my back donor seemed ok. The thing is my online consultation pictures were not clear and only after taking the trip to Turkey did the extent of my diffuse become apparent. In other words, i slipped through the cracks as most doctors would say no to me. Moving on to my question... Anyone know what the right diagnosis for my side hair diffuse loss is? DUPA, AGA, or just normal MPB/Genetics? Reason why im hesitant to label it as DUPA is because my back donor was fairly dense (with the exception of 2 small areas labeled in picture 3). While Demirsoy did point out the diffuse, he did not give me an exact diagnosis. Also, the lighting Demirsoy uses in before/after pictures is really bright. They look nowhere near this bad in real life... Anyways let me know what you think.. most derms and hair specialists in this country are useless! Would rather hear from you guys instead. Thanks! Oh and i will have my TSH/Iron levels checked in a few days just incase..
  9. Sorry for the delayed response. Agenteye pretty much summed it all up. Other than thinning which u can see in my last set of pics (exhausted my donor in 1 HT unfortunately) i would say everything else looks the same as it did pre-op. Also the folliculitis/acne pimples have cleared, i just randomly get 1 from time to time. I have been trimming whole head with a 1-2 guard for the past 3 weeks as it looks much better that way. No signs of white scarring and i dare not ask family members to check again as they think that i'm being way too obsessive about my hair I am 48 days post-op today incase you're wondering. *edit* Would also like to add that i dont think it's a good idea to trim without a guard at this stage as it could possibly irritate the skin and cause acne/folliculitis. But each patient is different i guess...
  10. Very normal dingdong, i had this at 3-4 weeks. It has stopped since last week. Give it a week or two, you are just shedding dead skin which normally occurs after scabs fall off. I would not pick the dried skin if i were you. What i did was just rub the scalp gently after soaking my head in warm water for 5-10 minutes while in shower. Also, have you been using rogain since week 3 post-op as per the doctor's instructions? I noticed tons of flakiness after starting rogain and eventually gave up the treatment because i just wasnt convinced that i could keep up with this messy regimen twice a day for the rest of my life.. will stick to pills i guess.
  11. Dubai ruler pardons Norwegian woman convicted after she reported rape Dalelv no longer has a job with the company that sent her on the work assignment to Dubai. She said that a month after the rape, while forced to stay in Dubai as the case wound through the legal system, she was fired by her employer, Al Mana Interiors. A representative of Al Mana Interiors, who declined to be publicly identified, said Saturday that Dalelv and the Sudanese man she accused -- who is married with three children -- were both terminated by Al Mana Interiors for "drinking alcohol at a staff conference that resulted in trouble with the police." Cool story. She was not a tourist, she was sent there for work. She drank on the job. Publicly intoxicated herself while disregarding several of the countries laws, shared a hotel room with a co-worker scum who she had no close relationship with. I'm not saying its her fault for getting raped she is definitely a victim. However, she violated several alchohol and room sharing laws which btw the police there usually turn a blind eye to unless something significant occurs, and in her case something big occured. She was out on bail for a month then pardoned. *edit* oh and guess what, ive heard of cops planting drugs on victims in the USA and maybe even raping them, big whoop, happens everywhere.
  12. Mixing beard hair would definitely help with his case, and that is one of the main reasons why i recommend that you consider Dr. Doganay because he does beard hair aswell, Demirsoy does not. Also with regards to the term "session" it can mean both 1 day or a series of days. By the looks of it, i think Demirsoy's agent meant that the doctor would be able to transplant the maximum number of 4500 grafts over the course of 2 days just like Doganay. I could be wrong though.. when i had my transplanted it took about 6-7 hours a day for 2 consecutive days to transplant 3000 or so grafts. it would take approximately 2 hours longer each day in your case (but mostly depends on your scalp and how easy it is for doctor to extract).
  13. Not an expert but with the way you're tilting your head its hard to tell whether the diffused area is part of your crown (above safe zone) or below. Rest of donor looks fairly dense but only the doctor can give you a better estimate up close in person. How are your sides though? The doctor might want to use sides after exhausting back donor. Side grafts are not as safe as back but if they arent diffused you will have a much better chance with those grafts surviving long term. For those 2 options i would definitely not consider 3500 first session. After looking at your avatar picture, it will come nowhere near filling hairline/top/crown all at once (not talking about density here just simple spreading of grafts). with 3500 you would most likely have to leave the crown empty in first session. So if your looking to have work done on crown in 1st session, 4500 would be the way to go IMO. I have a similar hair loss pattern. Check my thread, 3k'ish grafts will barely reach your crown. Your temples need slightly more filling than mines depending on what kind of hairline you opt for. http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/171358-fue-dr-erkan-demirsoy-3033-grafts-turkey-instanbul.html
  14. Motorized, but he does both and claims that he would not offer motorized if he could not achieve similar results with it. I would have went manual as my back donor was limited (3000'ish) but i was convinced that his survival rate was just as good with motorized. Will find out in a few months i guess. And just to clarify, i am not recommending Demirsoy to the OP. It is your choice wether u want to take a gamble with Demirsoy for a cheaper price or go for a more guaranteed and transparent doctor like Hakkan. It is fairly obvious that Hakkan has proven himself to this community through all his amazing results and there is really no need to turn this into a Turkish HT doctor war thread
  15. Yeah he does all incisions and punches himself (atleast for me he did). Dingdong was ur procedure the same? For incision i believe he uses a blade I really dont know what its called but it definitely wasnt choi implanter pen. I know that Hakkan uses the choi implanter and could be beneficial to the patient if he/she does not want to shave the recipient area. Not sure about any other benefits though. Also, Demirsoy swaps between 0.7-0.8mm punches based on person's hair/scalp i believe. I know this because he used 0.7mm on me but 0.8mm on another patient with curly/middle eastern hair whome i met in hotel. He only performs 1 surgery a day but u might meet another patient in clinic getting hair washed or for followup.
  16. Punches and incisions yes. He also removed a certain amount of grafts from back donor and takes short pauses in between punches to check for angles/transection like any good HT doctor would. Technicians mainly do anesthesia, wash, dissection/preparation of grafts, graft removal and reinsertion (no punching and definitely no incision making as i believe this is illegal in Turkey?) Also for magpie, make sure that you actually have the 4500 grafts in your back donor. Because if you don't then your best bet is Hakkan for beard hair as Demirsoy does not do any kind of BHT. I am a patient of Demirsoy btw.
  17. Correct, 1 Euro for motirized 2 Euro for manual. I went for motorized (micro motor tool) because i had already done my research and was convinced that Dr. Demirsoy could perform this method with high success/low transection rate, similar to manual. Will have to wait and see whether i made the right decision, i hope so...
  18. Hey shn, you have a 2 options: 1. To contact the clinic directly google search "Armamed Erkan Demirsoy" first result is the clinic's official website, you can find the phone number somewhere in there. The secretary speaks english so you may be able to communicate with them over phone. I would advise you not to fill out the form on the official website though as i never got a response back when i did. 2. Contact one of the agents that work with him. There is no price difference and it will make your consultation and overall trip easier. In my case i booked through Clemens Weber. Do a google search for "Health Travels Erkan Demirsoy" it will be the first result. You can fill out the form and have an online consultation/quote done for you. He charges 1 Euro for mico motor and i believe 2 Euro for manual extraction.
  19. Most men in the middle east do hold hands while walking or talking to one another. Sounds awkward but that's how tradition is like here, it is also acceptable and you will often see it in shopping malls, gay or not. Also greeting each other by kissing cheek to cheek just like Italians. I get what you're trying to say but i just felt like pointing that out True, this is a real concern if you choose to bring along a girlfriend. We occasionally hear about non-married couples being deported/banned from the country for this reason. With regards to booking the same hotel room though, you won't really have any issues in Turkey or Dubai. It is considered illegal however the cops and hotel staff turn a blind eye towards tourists. Bottom line is this, avoid going on an alchohol fueled sex marathon with your girlfriend and im sure you'll be fine in either country
  20. Salam brother and congratulations on your new set of hair, looks good for 6 months. After reading your post it sounds like you hesitated and backed off from your first procedure because the doctor was planning on operating in his/her office instead of a hospital? If that was the case then you shouldn't have worried so much. Many hair transplant doctors operate out of their office (even the best). Some might have their own building while others may rent space in a business/apartment complex of some sort. Hair transplantation (FUE method especially) is a minimally invasive procedure and does not require a fully equipped hospital in order to be done. Seems like you should have done a bit more research before having your transplant as it looks like you took a gamble with your HT doctor. Nevertheless, i am very happy for you as you managed to get good results. Please let us know the doctor's name and how many grafts you recieved. Also, your temples need a bit more growth but you still have 6 more months to go so please keep us updated!
  21. Not from USA but a Canadian national. Travelling to Turkey was probably one of the easiest and most pleasant trips i've had. I am originally middle eastern and travelled from Kuwait to Turkey so my flight only lasted 3.5 hours. Yours would be long and boring (anywhere between 10-12 hours i believe). Airport security is no issue, never stopped/searched. Very easy to get into the country as you can apply for an e-visa online which i did. Took me 5 minutes to fill out the form and pay, was approved instantly. You could always do this at airport but i did not feel like waiting in line. With regards to safety, i too was worried about the riots/protests when heading there last month. Turns out they only happen during certain times and in very small areas (e.g. taksim square) so i never saw a thing. I'm pretty sure the protests have cooled down since last month. Also i would not worry too much about where you are coming from. It makes no difference if you are from the US, Europe, or even a neighbouring Arab/Non-Arab country. Turkey is one of very few "open" and tourist friendly countries in the middle east, kind of like Dubai. The people are very generous, friendly, and polite. I'm sure you will have a pleasant experience. *edit* Oh and they have some very tasty sweets there lol. bought some from the airport on my way back OMNOMNOM
  22. Hello. I am 27 days post-op today. Swelling, pain, and numbness all gone. My donor has thinned out quite alot though which was expected. Prior to surgery i was not a good candidate as i had diffuse all around (even a bit in the safe zone) so i am not too worried. Also, the hair is currently sticking out and way too short to provide any coverage. I had a family member inspect donor for any white dots and they could not find any so i'm very happy. For my recipient area, most of the transplanted hairs have shedded. If i were to guess i would say 20-30% still remain. Some have grown a few millimetres while others have not. First pic taken during 3rd week, the rest are today (27 days)
  23. I've healed up almost fully for a week now. Very slight numbness right above the hairline which is gradually getting better and occassional itch in donor area, thats about it. Donor looks clean but will wait till hair grows out more before checking for any shockloss/thinning which i am expecting anyway (atleast thinning). I'm on day 23 post-op today.
  24. Hey bud, dont worry too much about the pain. 2-3 days and the needle like pain will be go away (atleast for me it did). I know.. it was kind of hard to sleep as it gets more intense when you're laying down on bed. The alove vera gel will be helpful in a few days as the pain will turn into more of an itch or tingling sensation. Also best not to touch/scratch your donor. Scratching will only make things worse and cause pimples, i learned the hard way Get well soon!
