  1. Hi all, I'm sure some of ye may have spotted a query or two from me before on a few little issues I have following my HT over three months ago. Many thanks for yer replies on them which were most helpful and insightful. Things are slowly but surely picking up over the past few weeks. There are many small baby hairs begining to sprout. Its a slow tedious process and things don't happen overnight but I'm hanging in there. Anyway, another query ye lads might be able to help me with hopefully and even any other guys in the same situation reading the thread. Another symptom of the ageing process I suppose but I have quite a few greys showing. Before they were mainly confined to the sides and back but now there are some appearing on top too. Could anybody recommend me a hair dye or product such as grecian that is safe to use for a guy also using Regaine and Finasteride. In particular are there any harsh products I should avoid as my hair can be quite fragile and harsh products do seem to cause hairloss with me. Also, I do have a tendency to suffer from dandruff even a build up of a waxy substance on my scalp from time to time. Thankfully the Nizoral tends to keep that in check for the most part but again I just want to avoid any products that may exasserbate that aspect also. I have used just for men on the backs and sides before. Ok results with it but a bit hit and miss. Sometimes you will get better results than others. I would like a product like grecian that builds my hair colour up over time but have read very mixed reviews on it. Some would not touch it in account of its lead content and believe that the make up of the product is not as good as it was in the last few years. Others seem to think its a fantastic product. Anyone able to provide me with more insight please. Thanks in advance for all replies
  2. Thanks Mallyboy, At present I'm washing my hair every 5 or 6 days with the Nizoral shampoo. Its really hard to know what to do as one person would tell you to wash with the Nizoral every 2 days and another would tell you thats away too often and such overuse is bad for your hair. Not saying your incorrect or anything. Just saying that its hard to know what to do on the basis of the such conflicting directions. What conditioner do you use out of curiosity?
  3. Thanks Gents, Ye have being most helpful. Hairklepto I do suffer from eczema. It flares up from time to time particularly around my nose but I treat it with a mild steroid cream which is pretty effective in knocking it back. At the same time it would flare up on my scalp also, lots and lots of dandruff but a few applications of nizoral works wonders. I did get a serious build up of gunk in my scalp about two months ago. Not even flaky dandruff. It was more like a layer of gunk with almost the same consistency as ear wax:eek:. Around the same time the eczema in my face was particularly bad. Again a few applications of the nizoral and steroid cream sorted both. All has being good since. Even in the past week I believe I have seem some pretty good early growth and I am just past the 3 month mark at this stage. Hopefully its a sign of things to come:)
  4. Is anybody in a position to advise me on my query please. Thanks
  5. Whats a non surgical hair transplant? As opposed to a surgical hair transplant?
  6. Hi all, As per my title I had a hair transplant exactly 3 months ago in my frontal one third and temples area. Am still very much in the ugly duckling phase and I would think a lot of the transplanted hairs shed later than might be normally expected with most guys. However am using concealer and getting through it. No pain, no gain and all that and I do believe I am begining to see a few baby hairs sprouting up... Is it normal to experience high degree of itching at this stage? Sometimes I also feeling a sensation throughout the transplanted are and it even seems to travel to my forehead below the hairline. Is this normal and expected at this stage? Also, what is the best thing to do with pimples forming. As hard as it may be is it best to leave them to their own devices or pop them? To also note I am on 1.25mg proscar daily, minoxidil (although do not apply this to transplanted area), and wash my hair with nizoral shampoo every 5th/ 6th day. I have being using these treatments non stop for the last 10ish months though Thanks in advance for any assistance
  7. Hi JCTib27. I had a procedure done at Talizi towards the end of February (less than 3 months ago). Assuming that is a photo of the top of your head on your profile then my hairloss pattern was very much like yours except I would have described myself as Norwood III. I booked the procedure with Talizi almost 9 months in advance and it was originally intended that I would receive 2,500 grafts, the very bulk of which were to be placed in the frontal one third and a some in the crown also as I had lost some hair there. However, as it transpired with the use of minixodil and proscar medication between booking and getting the procedure done I experienced good regrowth in the crown so it was decided to leave that as was and concentrate on the frontal one third and hairline alone. I recieved the full 2,500 grafts in the frontal third by means of FUT method. In fact they went a little over this number 2,518 grafts if I recall correctly. I had quite a number of 2 and 3 hair grafts but was only charged €1.20 per graft (I know many surgeries charge you per hair as opposed to per graft). All in the procedure cost €3,000 so I was not charged for the additional 18 grafts I recieved either (I know 18 grafts would not be a hell of a lot extra but all the same it was a gesture on their part and shows that money is not the be all and end all with them either I think). My accommodation for 3 days in Tbilisi and transfer to and from the airport was also covered in the €3,000. Dr Akaki Tsilosani is the chief surgeon in the clinic and is seemingly much accredited. For my procedure the chief surgeon was Dr. Vaja Vadachkoria and he seemed well in control of what he was doing. I personally organised my procedure through their Irish representative here in Ireland As I say its less than 3 months since the procedure so it is still very early days really. I probably shed quite a lot of the transplanted hairs later than normal I reckon so am possibly a small bit more behind than the average guy might be at this stage. Having said that I can see some small baby hairs sprouting, particularly over the past week or so. I did notice a hair or 2 that may have being badly placed but if it turns out just to be a couple of hairs only I can live with that. Hard to tell at this early stage and the next few months will probably tell a lot and sorry I can tell you no more about the result presently. A tricophytic wound closure method was used following the strip being cut out. Apparently there are pros and cons to this method. It is expected to result in a scar which is undetectable to the naked eye but it is also said that some hairs are lost using this method. Further reading and debate is available on the site on this type of wound closure and its pros and cons. I must say I am really very impressed with how my wound has healed and no doubt it will improve that bit further over the coming months also. Over all they seem to me to be a professional outfit. The surgery seemed clean, not squeeky clean but adequately clean and more importantly it seemed that their equipment was kept clean and sterile as far as I could tell. Unfortunately I'm probably not in a position to recommend them yet because as I have said its away too early to tell how my final result will look. Overall Georgia seems a nice country and the people are generally nice although there is a language barrier there. Many people are not able to speak english or only have a few basic words of english, especially the older generation. If you are having a procedure done there be careful and have your wits about you crossing the roads as they drive like maniacs and safe driving does not seem high on their agenda:) So thats my experience. Sorry I am not in a position to advise you further as its still away too early to see any of the final result following the procedure. Hopefully somebody else may be able to chime in and advise you further based on their experience there...
  8. I think using the stuff in moderation is key. I use it myself and am lucky that the particular product I use is a bang on match to my own hair colour. There has being times when away too much has came out of the container and I've just had to dust it off and start again. Used sparingly I think it is a great product in particular for those who are diffuse thinners. Even a small container lasts ages so it wont break the bank. It is hard to detect and gives me that extra little bit of coverage to great effect and ultimately gives me that extra little bit of confidence in my looks...
  9. Hi All, Thanks again for yer help on my last issue which was most appreciated. I am in a small bit of trouble again though and would appreciate some advice please I had a hair transplant approx 10 weeks ago by FUT method. Approx 2,500 grafts placed in the temples and towards the front one third of the top my head forward to the hairline. I always had a bit of an issue with dandruff but over the past week or two in particular I am getting severe dandruff and feel very itchy at times in the general area I got the hairs transplanted. My first question is is this normal and expected in my circumstances? Approx 5 weeks after the surgery I went back to using the Regaine again but only in the crown and the area towards the back of my head where there is no real hairloss. I have being avoiding using it in the transplanted area. Also wondering if it is ok to take up using the Nizoral shampoo again this soon after the HT? I had being using the Nizoral before the HT about twice a week, maybe more often if the dandruff got bad and to be fair it was controlling it very well generally. Also worth mentioning that I use concealer in the area where I got the HT done Finally is there anything in addition I could/ should do to improve my situation? Many thanks in advance.
  10. Thanks one and all for yer replies. Ye have being most helpful and have helped to put my mind at ease. Appreciated
  11. Thanks fitnessjunkie, your reply is most appreciated. I was almost thinking as much myself when there was no blood even on my head at the area the scab came from but just wanted to seek confirmation Probably not a good practice to be picking at the scabs all the same I'd imagine...
  12. Hi All, I got a Hair transplant approx two months ago by FUT method. I got a wound closure called trichophytic and self dissolving stitches. The donor area felt pretty sore for a while at first and found it somewhat difficult to sleep as one would expect. However, this subsided greatly after a month and it would have seemed to have healed up very well so far. However, on a few occasions just there earlier this evening inclusive I went picking at some scabbing in the donor area. A few times the scabs that came off in my finger had hairs in them. They were purely white flaky scabs with absolutely no blood. It would seem that the hairs were going through the scabs. Could somebody please answer me if there is a possibility I pulled hair follicles out from my head when picking at these scars or are the hairs that I see interwoven in the scabs simply hairs only that will grow back again?
