  1. So after surfing this site for some time, it seems that most top docs have their little niches with certain aspects of HT surgery making them the go to guys for certain requirements. i.e. Rahal, Feller for large dense packing, Wong for crown. Who are the best at designing nice natural hairlines, since I'm a 3A and that's the most important aspect for me-especially looking natural. Thanks
  2. Get on propecia and rogaine-you're an ideal candidate for it. You may be surprised and get most of your hair back. Don't jump into anything. If I were you, I would try non surgical measures first.
  3. Unfortunately, in my line of work I can not wear a hat. Does having started propecia many months prior to the transplant decrease chances of shock loss? Since presumably the native hair is stronger and less vellous (sp.?)?
  4. I'm leaning toward FUE, but not sure. ~1500 grafts, mostly to the frontal and hairline since I'm pretty well covered in the crown. Dark hair, moderately light skin. The way I see it-FUE will help initially since I can buzz cut my hair (which I have done plenty in the past) and it should look fine. However, if I do lose most or all of the thinning hairs in the front I could go close to slick bald for a couple of months. That's pretty concerning. Any thoughts or successful disguises?
  5. so I'm getting mentally prepared for a ht, and one of my concerns is the ugly duckling phase for the first few months after transplant, going from less hair to more hair to no hair and then back to more hair again. I'm thinking about how to disguise it especially since I'm anticipating quite a bit of shock loss on my thinned frontal area. I know people have used toppik, but that depends in how much native hair remains. Has anyone used a partial/mini hair system during that waiting phase. A much as I promised myself that I would never wear a piece, I'm thinking this may be a reasonable temporary option. Especially since I'm more of a NW3A and will have most of my work in the frontal area. Thanks
  6. Thanks for replies. T&D sound good but usually are not mentioned in same light as Feller, any reason for that?
  7. Has anyone been quoted more at T&D recently? Since theyre prices are not listed, I'm wondering how transparent they are.
  8. Do most clinics have set prices for their surgeries, or do they adjust them on the fly? Can anyone tell me what some of the leading clinics are charging these days, specifically Bernstein, Feller, True&Dorin, Konior, Shapiro. Thanks
  9. Fin can cause some shedding but that sounds pretty excessive, although if youre a NW6 I'm not sure how you notice the shedding on top. I would give it some time though, since it can take a while to work with noticeable results.
  10. I'm planning on going for a HT and recently consulted two top HT docs both highly recommended on this forum. One recommended an FUE and the other a strip, both recommended between 1500-2000 grafts. I'm tring to consider worst case senario for both options and am wondering if the scar is poor with the strip-how well does FUE into donor scar work to cover it up if I want to keep short hairstyle as an option in the future. Has anyone done it successfully? Thanks.
  11. What about True vs. Dorin, they seem to be lumped together on this forum, is one better than the other? also, does anyone have a recommendation about T&D vs. Feller if I'm going for an FUE? Thanks
  12. I too am considering T&D and Feller. Why do you think Dorin does better hairlines and Feller better yield? Is that based on pics on their websites, word of mouth, hearsay on these forums? I'm having difficulty deciding between different surgeons and wondering what information I should use to help me choose. Thanks.
  13. Thanks for the responses, It has been mentioned that feller does not do large FUE sessions, but does he do a lot of smaller sessions?
  14. Thanks for the reply-I'm definitely doing quite a bit of research and thank all of you for your helpful threads. Seems to me that if I take propecia that should minimize shock loss, have FUE so decrease scarring, and then worst case senario is poor growth. Does that logic make sense? Are there other things to consider that can go wrong? For those of you out there that have had so called bad results that you've regretted, did those factors come into play? Thanks
  15. I'm new to this forum and I'm considering a HT. I have been reading about people stating that they have had poor/bad HT results. I'm wondering what those bad results mean, so that I can be prepared for a worst case scenario since I am considering a transplant. Are bad results poor growth and waste of money, unnatural appearance, loss of any pre-existing hair, bad donor scar? Thanks
  16. Being new to the forum, dare I ask: why are large FUE sessions so much more difficult then FUT? Also if I'm only considering a relatively small session 1000-1500 grafts then is it important to find someone who does lots of FUE's?
  17. New to the forum, and considering HT, but more strongly thinking of FUE. I'm a NW 3v-4, and only looking to fill in the frontal and forelock areas. I'm most concerned with the hairline detail and need relatively small session probably about 1500 grafts, to meet my goals. Any advice on the best FUE docs in the north east, since I've been reading on here that an inexperienced FUE doc can have poor results with donor damage/ loss. Thanks.
