  1. If yield is similar on smaller cases, then why does it matter whether they do motorized vs. manual extraction?
  2. Good luck. Glad to see some more FUE's from U.S. docs. Hope you post pics.
  3. I've even noticed that with toppik on my head my hair looks ok in sunlight but in certain indoor lighting, especially dimly lit rooms and under direct light it looks much worse. I've always thought that it's the contrast of direct overhead lighting vs. surrounding ambient light which is worse indoors.
  4. Thanks for replies, more will be added but I'm only looking to cover the frontal and forelock. Waiting for propecia to hopefully do a decent job on the crown, since it seems to be working a bit. I think the apparent decrease in native hair is more projectional then anything else and maybe due to hair length discrepancy. All other pics seem to show stabilization and even a little growth. I was wondering whether this is expected for 1400 grafts, and how many more i may need to give decent density to the grafted area.
  5. I'm almost 1 year out of a 1400 graft procedure and would like to hear opinions and thoughts on the results. I don't have exact hair count numbers but ~ 1's-710 2's-635 3's-55
  6. How much do you use for each application if you're going through 2 bottles/ month. I've just started using rogaine foam and am wondering if i should be leaving a nice liquid film on my head or just using a light amount to cover the necessary areas.
  7. I'm past the first month, having been using baby shampoo since, but it is drying out my scalp. Looking for something else now.
  8. I'd like to shampoo every night so that I can wash off the cover up and toppik and let my scalp air out over night. My doc recommended an expensive shampoo that must be ordered. I'm wondering whether anyone has tried any "over the counter" shampoos that have helped and are not harsh on the scalp.
  9. Any recommendations on a good shelf stocked shampoo after the first month, post transplant? How do those compare with revivogen and other supposedly scientifically formulated shampoos? Is there any need to use a mild shampoo anymore? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  10. This is my third time on it. First was for 3.5 years and it completely stopped hair loss and even thickened my hair. Second was for 2 years and it stopped hairloss. Third is now. Each time I noticed immediate loss after stopping the meds. I came off for fears of certain side effects.
  11. I had an FUE and had to see some friends the next day. I found that a loose fitting (2 sizes too big) fitted style baseball cap covered the extraction area nicely as well as seemed to cover the recipient area without touching it.
  12. Hairlines are measured from the top of eyebrows. I just had mine done and measured it at 8cm, and I'm happy I didn't go lower than that. This way it's a less drastic change from the way I've looked the last 5 years and I have more on reserve for future treatments.
  13. That's what I'm thinking. I've always found that part of the advantage of buzzing to a 1 or 2 grade is that it blends the back, sides and thinning top better. Hopefully it will create a similar illusion even if I lose all the hair on top of my head to shock loss. I'm scheduled for July, so I'll let you know how it goes. Any other thoughts are welcomed.
  14. Where are you guys counting finger lengths from- above or below the eyebrows? Tacolino-yours actually looks slightly lower then my proposed hairline and I'm measuring about 5. I'll post pics soon. I know it's high, but I'm trying to figure based on prior pics and or experiences whether it looks bad or just like a receded, mature hairline. I agree that a lot is probably dependent on the head shape.
  15. so I'm schedule for an FUE and plan to go quite conservative. I'm a 3A-4 and having frontal and hairline work. I'm trying to figure out how high a hairline I can go with that will still look good. Reasons for conservative approach are average donor density, and I'd like to have age appropriate hairline in 20 years. Are there any pics or forums detailing the height of hairlines or size of foreheads? I've searched the forums but can't find any such threads? Thanks CC
  16. Hey Recedingboy-what did you end up doing for concealment. I'm in a similar situation, scheduled for an FUE and thinking of shaving my head until month 4 or 5 when it starts growing in.
  17. True-i have considered that last point you mention about going lower in the future, but still trying to imagine what an 8 or 9 cm hairline would look like filled in, since I'm currently very thin in my frontal and hairline areas. Are there pics online or on this site that demonstrate different sized hairlines to help those of us out who are trying to estimate the optimal size.
  18. Is there a cm number for a mature hairline or just visual estimation?
  19. I've narrowed it down to feller and T&D since they both seem good, honest and show great results. I like the conservative approach of T&D with the zig-zag, natural, asymetric appearing hairline. Any difference between True and Dorin? Has anyone had work with both of them and prefer one over the other? They seem to be interchangeable on this forum.

  21. thanks for the replies and especially thanks for Dr Lindsay's professional opinion. I went for a consult with two of the highly recommended surgeons on this website and one recommended strip and the other FUE for~1500 grafts. the strip proponent stated that yield will not be as good as FUE and there's potential for coalescence of dot/scars. The FUE proponent claims that over the last few years, with refined technique, the yield is comparable and FUE noticable scarring is rare. I'm still contemplating between the two, but in my opinion I agree with Mickey, that worst case senario, the potential disadvantages of strip seem to outweigh the advantages, compared with the disadvantages and advantages of FUE. In other words the risk: reward ratio of each in my opinion favors FUE. If I get suboptimal yield with FUE, I can always go back and get more or finally come to terms with my hairloss and buzz my head. If I have a bad scar from strip, there's no option around it. Granted, most strip scars look fine but what if I'm the outlier. Isn't that the point of all this research-to prepare for potential less then optimal situations. I mean if we knew the recipient and donor sites looked great a certain way every time, and with a certain doctor, then noone would argue about the method or clinic in which a patient should have it done. Just my thoughts, but curious to hear others' opinions about that line of logic. Thanks
  22. What about in the U.S. I am reluctant to travel abroad and I know there are good surgeons here. Thanks
