Even though the first result was great I normally would have preferred a surgeon who does more of the procedure himself. Also feriduni switched from CIT manual to the WAW system in between my surgeries, which made me a little nervous. Konior using the system himself gave me a better feeling in a way 😅

I believe most doctors outside the US have built experienced technical teams do deal with the tedious and repetitive work involved with FUE in order to avoid fatigue - how does anyone expect to have a 3k graft FUE case done in a day without excellent techs that the doctor supervises and also performs overall quality control? I know in my case, the doctor was primarily involved with the recipient site incisions and design of the hairline, but he was intimately involved from the beginning to end checking up on his lead tech and also administering meds, checking up on me, etc. I think without this model, FUE could not be as efficient as it is today. Going in, I think doctors should be transparent about the entire process and how much they're involved vs. techs, etc. I do understand your concern.

  2. I have a very limited donor as well as was probably already at a Norwood 5A going to 6, so I had to be very conservative as well... do I have full coverage? absolutely not, but I'm happy where I am, my appearance looks 100% natural and most importantly, I don't waste an hour in the morning trying to do a comb-over to hide my balding, using hairspray to keep every hair exactly in place, worried about the wind, weather, etc. For me, my HT gave me back a sense of normalcy and better confidence. Your end result should shape up to be great! continued luck healing and growing

Absolutely!  Are you covering gray, highlighting, or changing the color completely?   Years ago I used to do a light rinse in summer to bring out the blondes.

getting lots of greys on the sides, I've heard of "rinses" before, are they more natural? is this just a salon treatment or are there over the counter products? Was never a big fan of the full dyed hair look and wanted to keep it more natural if possible

  4. Hasson & Wong, Konior, Rahal, Cooley, Shapiro, Gabel - consult, consult, consult .... and like others have suggested, you're still in a very early stage until your final result is seen, but nothing stopping you from consulting with a few top notch docs and will likely take a year before you can get in for another procedure anyway

Like everyone else said this doctor either has no idea what they are doing or they are just careless and left you at the mercy of their inexperienced technicians. On top of the muli hair and chunky grafts you also have pitting from grafts being placed too deep in the skin which causes the skin to look dimpled. You have a high contrast between your dark thick hair and light skin which makes you an extremely difficult case.

I had similar issues as you did after my first surgery. An experienced doctor is going to want to remove some of the grafts and debulk the large once placed in the front before transplanting more hairs. You need to be very careful and make sure you go to one of the best doctors recommended here for your repair if you want a natural looking result. Good luck.

Look at this case below. This guy had similar issues minus the pitting maybe and chose an excellent doctor for his repair.

great repair story, happy you found a talented surgeon in Dr. Feriduni

  6. maybe 1990-91, before graduating college, I'm not sure but I envision Madonna songs were still popular at that time?? Dress You Up, Like a Virgin, La Isla Bonita - in high school I had a nice head of hair, then all of a sudden diffuse thinning, I clearly remember playing catch with my god-daughter who must have been 7 or 8 at the time and she blurted out so matter of fact "you have a bald spot on your head"! so of course I started with the creative styling (coverup), wearing it longer, covering the bald temples on the sides, in the beginning it was ok, but as I lost more hair it was so time consuming with gels and hair sprays trying to get it "just right" before going out, and then there was our worst enemy - the wind... God I would literally freak out on really windy days being outside alone and even more with friends and family! There were no forums like that at that time, and of course I panicked, became more isolated, and unfortunately in 1993 went ahead with my first HT surgery which basically put "plugs" in my existing hairline - fast forward 20 years until most of my native hair was basically lost and all I had left in the front were plugs. It was this forum that introduced me to great doctors to consult with, newer extraction methods such as FUE, and a ton of other helpful hints. After 2 FUE surgeries split a year apart, I started feeling "normal" again, so I couldn't be more grateful to this community. As others have stated, dont fear, don't panic, don't get depressed, but do the research, take in the knowledge and experience of others and you'll be on the right path to better yourself.

  7. I few from NJ to Canada twice for my procedures. My recommendation and advice. Buy and bring with you an oversized cap that you can adjust in the rear but it will be large enough on top where it never touches your head. Second, be prepared to be asked by security to take your cap off when you go thru airport to your gate. Yes, you will get a funny glance or stare by some security officer or 2 that you'll never see again for a few seconds. Dont sweat it, nobody really cares except you. And last, you will have to spray your grafts about every hour or so - even as you're traveling. I suggest putting whatever solution your doctor or clinic gives you in a TSA approved size spray bottle. I went thru with a larger spray bottle and they took it from me. Good luck, its not as back as you think.

  8. i did a small FUT procedure in my early 20's which of course I regret to this day, the strip was taken at the base of my head and not the usual linear scar they do now. After I continued having hair loss into my 40's, I decided to go FUE for my repair and restoration, 2 FUE procedures with Dr. Rahal which was night and day in terms of recovery of my first small FUT procedure - if I could do it all over again, I should have waited until my mid 30's, went to an excellent FUT doctor like you did, and managed my donor better, but of course not everything goes as you wish

    What do you guys think?

I´d go for only one FUT and try and get as many grafts out of the area, I was told up to 5000 - 5200+ would be possible. That would leave a small amount for FUE touch up, e.g. on the scar in later years.

I'd be stunned if any reputable, ethical doctor told you that you could get 5K+ grafts in one sitting from an FUT strip surgery. That's highly unlikely even with someone with an excellent donor. You're probably looking looking at possibly 3k grafts for a frontal zone restoration from an FUT mega-session. Just my opinion but definitely more realistic based on the tons of cases I've seen and my own HT experience.
