  1. Bernstein? ah one of the doctors who never posts and we hear nothing about. That's a easy choice. Search results on this forum and you'll get your answer.

Diep is better than Rahal imho. Quite a few doctors are. Cheaper too.

I disagree. This is not just bias because I've gone with Rahal as one of my docs. I did look into Diep among others prior to my first HT. He's good don't get me wrong.

Cheaper? Not really if you factor in the currency difference between the US and CDN dollar.

  2. No. Transplanted hair comes from the safe zone and are permanent thus it will not fall out in the future. The only way that it would is when grafts are taken outside of the safe donor area where those grafts may be subject to DHT. This rarely happens happens if at all as your surgeon will be able to map those areas.

  3. Baldeagle1982,

    To answer your questions..

    1. Tightness wasn't an issue with the second procedure. If you have a skilled surgeon + do scalp exercises, you won't have any worries. I've had both FUT and FUE without any problems.

    2. Recovery was better the second time as you know what to expect and the lower graft count.

    3. Can't give you an answer on that without seeing your pictures. Having said that, I think 1500 grafts will go a long way if you need temple work and/or adding hairline density etc.. it all depends on your hair loss.

    4. I just had positive thoughts and a overall good vibe during the recovery phase because I knew it would be successful having chosen the best docs possible and took great care with pre/post op. I set myself up for success and did everything I could to get the best outcome. In addition, I wanted to have unlimited styling options and this was the way to do it. I didn't want to worry about hair anymore and it paid off.

    5. Hard to give you an exact quote. Price per graft varies per doctor and it depends on whether you're doing FUE (more costly) or FUT. Other factors like foreign currency, travel etc.. might apply. You're best bet would be to contact the doctor of your choice and get some pricing info.

  4. I agree with a lot of what Shera as mentioned.

edit: and speegs above too :P

In my opinion, you should go with FUT first to maximize your grafts. If you go to a top doc the scar is really minimal and not noticeable at a certain hair length. If you go FUE you will need multiple procedures guaranteed to achieve the result you desire as your hair loss seems extensive. There is host of other reasons why you shouldn't do FUE first as described already by the guys.

I wouldn't limit yourself to just your local area for a HT. Go for the best.

Honestly, to determine if you're a candidate I would do a consult with a top notch surgeon as they would be able provide guidance and a plan to go forward.

  5. We appreciate you posting pictures. So you received 2500 grafts? You mentioned you had your significant other count the grafts? I've never heard of anyone doing that. Keep in mind based on your hair loss 2500 grafts won't give you the coverage you're looking for. The area is too vast for the number of grafts used. I don't want to comment on how the graft placement looks. Also, I haven't heard of your surgeon but if you're happy then that's all that matters. Hope you grow well!

  6. It's hard to tell from that picture. Perhaps post better pictures from multiple angles, which would certainly help get a better estimation on the # grafts. Also, we can only tell you our opinion as its best to consult with a HT doctor who would be able to get you a more accurate assessment.

  7. Seniormido,

I've noticed you posted the same question 3-4 different times. You got solid advice from both mikeyhwk and shera. In my opinion, I think your donor area is very limited and you won't get the coverage you desire. I highly doubt you'll be able to get 4000+ grafts as you indicated in prior threads. This is just my opinion, you're best bet is to do a consultation (in person would be better if you can) with a renowned doctor and get there expert advice on how to proceed if you are indeed solely focused on the HT route.
