  1. You would be better off getting on propecia or dutasteride and waiting it out. If you continue to lose more hair over the next few years you will have a better plan to procede. Look at my pics, jazz. I was your age when I got my first to fix my receeding hairline. See how much work I need now 9 years later? Anyway your hair looks great. Comb your hair forward if your hairline bothers you. Some of us had that hairline when we were 15.
  2. Probably sounds right. I have scarring from 1mm punches but none from .75mm. My yield wasn't so great from any size punch though. I think you would get some visible scarring from .9mm but it won't be too bad. Generally 1mm punches are obvious when your hair is shaved and still visible at 1 guard.
  3. I'm hoping to address both, but I would be satisfied with a modest thickening of the crown. I don't need hairline work as I did that plenty of times but the frontal third is still quite thin. I'm unable to style it other than a glorified comb over. I wouldn't be surprised though if the doc would want to soften parts of my hairline that seem pluggy. Thanks.
  4. Yeah, I've gotten plenty taken out from the sides above my ears .
  5. And you ignore the question yet a third time. I'm going to assume you've never had any work done then which means you should write less and read more. Or if you're done reading then just go on ahead and go for it. Report back in a year, and let's see how you feel about it all. I really hope it works out for you, man. Maybe all that animosity I detect in all your posts comes from your hairloss. It sucks. I know. Hope you get a mega FUE session, and it all works out for you. You seem to already got it all figured out so just go for it.
  6. This is all true, but what some of us do not consider is the strong probability that we will advance to a Norwood 6. Sure the propecia looks like it's been holding it down for the past 5 years, maybe even 10...but eventually it all catches up. If you're losing your hair in your 20's & 30's most likely you are going to be a Norwood 6. It might not happen until your 50 or maybe even later but it's gonna happen. And most of the time it happens a lot sooner. And then sure you can buzz it and say screw it, but if you want more hair at that point FUT may be the only option if you maxed out with FUE. I just think it's a mistake for younger guys to think propecia or whatever they use is maintaing their hair and they knock out a FUE megasession and all will be good. It won't. This is just the beginning. I agree that getting a 1,000 graft strip for your hairline is a bad idea. I also think if you only need a 1,000 grafts it would be better you not get a HT. Just suck it up and wait until you have more loss. You would make better use of your donor, and ultimately be better off. I'm gonna say it again and all you guys who never had FUE yet think you know so much (based on the bubble that is the internet) can go on and keep blasting me. You're not going to get great yield with FUE. Be happy with 80%. Some guys will get more than others. Considering how expensive it is, that really sucks. I've done it four times over 9 years nonetheless. I'm not sure why. Maybe I'm scared of knives. Don't base results on what you see on the internet. Go out and meet patients in person, and don't forget to pay attention to the top of the head too, apart from the donor...you know, the actual hair transplant.
  7. It's ironic that you spelled "ridiculous" incorrectly. You've missed my question a few times, GNX1. Have you ever had a HT (FUE or Strip)? Have you ever seen one in real-life, in the flesh, especially by any of the docs above that you seem to like? Thanks.
  8. What's so ridiculous about it? You make a lot more dough doing FUE. Higher prices. Train your techs to do much of the extractions. I've known of some FUE docs doing 3 patients at a time. Let's say they get 3,000 grafts each x $7 or $8 a graft. Hot damn.
  9. He has a conscience, and isn't a great salesman. He would make more money if he did mostly FUE. He would do a bigger session if you insisted enough.
  10. What are you basing "strange" on? The beautiful donor shots posted by clinics on internet forums? Don't get me wrong. It doesn't look horrible, but certainly thin. A 1 guard is the worse. As the hair grows longer the less thin it looks. I don't stress over it, but considering some of the guys here obsess over the donor I would imagine some of them would stress out if they get work done. This has nothing to do with punches. Half of mine were .75mm - just basic math: Less hair = thinner hair.
  11. I had maximum donor density and have had around 5,000 FUE. My donor looks thin at 1 guard through 4. It's certainly not eye-catching like a strip scar. It looks more like I'm going bald in the donor area as well, like a diffused thinner.
  12. Dr. Feller is one of the pioneers of FUE. He was one of four docs experimenting with it in the USA in 2001 after they learned about W*ods in Australia. (Rassman, Bernstein & C*le were the others). He designed better punch tools to advance the procedure. It's hilarious how facts get buried on the internet. He probably trained some of the docs that some of you guys go bananas over these days. That being said $10 a graft is very high.
  13. gnx1, you're an interesting person. Again, have you had a HT? Have you seen patients in person?
  14. You sound like you think you know things. Have you had a HT? Have you seen any in person? When ht hairs are cut short they do not look natural in most cases because these hairs are thick and healthy and the empty space between each hair is more noticeable. No dense packing can duplicate nature. When a guy is losing his hair, the hairs on your hairline & frontal third are miniaturizing (hair shafts are thinner) but there are still many of these hairs next to each other. When a ht is cut short it looks thin even if you had 3,000 grafts packed into your hairline. The density can't mimic nature and the ht hairs are too thick to be a part of a sparse hairline (evident by the short cut). If you have light hair and skin this will not be very obvious because of less contrast (See Wesley Sneidjer). To be honest most people won't notice what I'm talking about because everyone is absorbed with their own lives & problems, but if you look carefully you will notice something is off.
  15. Thanks Spex. I have extreme donor laxity & density. Mike Ferko saw me in person and thinks 4,000 should be easily achievable.
  16. If you're a NW 6 why do you want to have a HT to keep it short at a 2 guard? Ht hairs don't look so hot when cut short. It's better to just keep your hair short and do nothing.
  17. I've had about that amount done. Your donor hair is gonna look noticeably thin at that length although most people won't notice because they are not looking carefully at the back of your head. The scars are not the issue at that length. A 1 guard will for the most part, hide 1mm & .9mm punch scars. If you get punches smaller than .9mm you should not have noticeable scarring but the probability of lower yield increases. I advise you to meet patients in person and not rely on the opinions on the forums of whiny 20 year olds with practically full heads of hair who adamantly defend FUE even though they have never had it. They will tell you FUE in the right hands will get you the 5,000 with the donor you want. Well, then see those patients of the "right hands" in person before you decide to book.
  18. to clarify: I paid for almost 8,000 FUE but probably only 5,000 grafts were extracted overall. Hard to say really.
  19. 4 procedures. 4 flights, 4 hotel stays. 4 post op hiding outs. I probably got about 5,000 FUE - can't be sure because some docs split the grafts. I've been told in person my growth looks like 2,000 from someone who would know. You guys see the pics. All the terminal hairs on the top are FUE grafts.
  20. Thanks Matt. The previous work I think would serve as a good base.
  21. Propecia is probably slowing it down only. Two years isn't enough to tell. I was in the same shape as you at your age. I wouldn't get anything done right now. Remember if you lose all your hair there won't even be enough to replace what you have right now.
  22. 2hillpark, look at my photos. I was like you when I was 24, planning on going for my first hairline surgery about 8 years ago. You will end up like me with a hairline in the front and your crown bald, and so you will be committed to doing more HTs. Keep that in mind. I suggest you take propecia and see how your hair is doing in 5 years.
  23. Thanks for the info Spex. My photos are in the album in my profile. Can you take a look when you get a chance? I appreciate your opinion. I don't doubt some guys have gotten great results from FUE but it just doesn't grow well with me and I imagine plenty of other guys. Bisanga, if I remember correctly. He worked on me for my first go when he was an apprentice down in Georgia. (can't say the doc's name on this forum for some reason)
  24. Why are you on this forum? You have no hairloss. If you are unhappy with the slightest adult recession then how are you going to feel if you happen to really go bald? Enjoy your hair, man.
