  1. Hi guys, i was wondering if the 5 mins massaging for applying minoxidil is really necessary for every part of the scalp. If this were true, it'd take me about half an hour just to rub it in. Isn't 30 seconds each part enough?
  2. No, but around the time of hair loss, i started weightlifting on and off, eating protein supplement, taking creatine, and growth hormone. I think these supplements contributed to my hair loss, and i have stopped taking all of it except protein, but i am still weightlifting. During that time period, my weight also fluctuated ~10lbs as i ate a lot to gain weight, and then lost it again. But they were gained/lost slowly, maybe a 1-2 lbs a week. I also looked at Norwood's diagram and to be honest, my hair loss doesn't fall into any of the patterns. I basically have thinning of hair on my hairline, loss of hair on my vertex, and basically just the top portion of my head. The hair loss is not severe to the point where i'm bald, but it's severe to the point where you could see my entire scalp after getting out of the shower.
  3. Thanks guys! I managed to massage my scalp yesterday when i shampooed my hair. Felt good to know that i can once again wash my hair the normal way. My scalp itched a little bit though when i did it vs. when i just pressed the shampoo in. Also, i read an article stating that dermatologists don't recommend shampooing everyday as it removes the sebum on the hair strands. They recommend shampooing 2-3 times a week. What do you guys think?
  4. What about all those hair strands that get on my hair when i massage my scalp then? I'm so scared of seeing that happening ....
  5. So just simply pressing the shampoo onto my scalp won't clean it? Wouldn't the shampoo dissolve dirt, sebum, etc from the scalp as soon as it touches the scalp?? The only added benefit to massaging the scalp is blood circulation, no?
  6. Hi guys, i have hair thinning in my crown and front, but am not sure if it's heredity since my grandfather from either sides were bald. If i go to a dermatologist, can he or she find the cause of my hair loss? If not, who should i go to?
  7. bump to see if anyone's on the same boat as me and know the answer!
  8. A little confused by your response as i wasn't trying to prevent my hair from coming out... So you mean that i should massage my scalp with the shampoo instead of just trying to press the shampoo onto my scalp? If i massage it my hair will start falling, that's why i'm not massaging it, but rather pressing the shampoo onto my scalp... Thanks!
  9. Wow isn't 15% a little overkill? I remember the instruction on the 5% Kirkland saying something along the lines of "do not apply more than twice a day" or something... And for certain it said that applying more doesn't mean it hair will grow back faster.
  10. Agree with Mickey85. Why would you complain about the product being too dense? If it were me, i'd rather it be dense than watery as that means i can use the product for a longer period of time... It's not hard for me to mix the shampoo with water.
  11. Hi guys, i have a question about how you guys shampoo your hair. Currently, What i am doing is sort of pressing the shampoo onto my scalp with a bit of force. i am not massaging the shampoo onto my scalp in a circular motion because when i do so, hair starts falling out. But i feel that if i don't massage it, i cannot clean my pores/scalp correctly. I am currently taking Propecia and hair still falls out when i "massage my scalp with shampoo," so i'm really afraid of doing it again Thanks guys
  12. But if someone were to get into weightlifting as a lifestyle or even for competition, would they have to give up the dream of having a full head of hair? Is there any way around this, like i said, by increasing the dosage of Propecia?
  13. Since weightlifting increases testosterone, which also increases DHT, wouldn't it be suffice to say that weightlifting can accelerate the speed of hair loss? Also, if i'm on Propecia and am weightlifting, should i be increasing my dosage because of the contribution of weightlifting to DHT?
  14. Spoke with Walmart pharmacist who denied to prescribe me generic proscar for hair loss because he says splitting them into 5 pieces will lose its effectiveness. Whether that's true or not, i don't want to risk finding out. So i'd rather buy generic 1 mg. I also heard Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Inc. is planning on manufacturing generic propecia 1 mg. I just emailed them to ask when they're going to release it. Hope to hear back from them soon.
  15. Bump, looking for legitimate online pharmacy that sells 1 mg generic finasteride! I did a google search and a lot of the pharmacies were fakes/fraudulent.
  16. Hi guys, I have been losing a lot of hair (over 30) hair every time i shower my hair, Because of this, I decided to go on the real Propecia 1 mg and Costco 2% minoxidil and have been on them for almost 3 weeks now, When can i expect this hair loss to halt? I did not experience the hair shed around the 3 month mark yet from Propecia - this is all just from my hair loss. Thanks
  17. Eek they only deal with UK customers. I forgot to mention I'm from the U.S.
  18. Does anyone buy their 1 mg generic finasteride tablets from an online pharmacy? If so, can you please point me to the store you bought it from? I'm trying to find a reliable store to buy my 1 mg since I do not wish to buy the 5 mg sold at retail stores. Edit: I'm from the U.S.
  19. How do you guys split the 5 mg into 5 pieces? It's so small that no matter how i split it, it's going to split into uneven bits and pieces...
  20. The pharmacist says since the tablets are gel coated or however coated (forgot the term), that it would become useless... i wanted to tell him that it's worked for hair loss patients on here who have split 5 mg doses into 1 mg... But held back because i didn't want to disrespect his profession
  21. Hi guys, so today i went to my doc to get a prescription and went to Walmart to get generic Finasteride 5 mg. The pharmacist refused to prescribe me the 5 mg pills because he says once you split up the pills, the pills will be exposed to oxygen and it will practically become useless within 24 hours. For those that's been taking 5 mg split up into 5 pieces and your hair isn't growing back, this might be the reason. Since generic finasteride isn't in 1 mg form in retail stores throughout the U.S., i'm thinking about buying them online. Where do you guys suggest buying them from? Thanks
  22. Are there ones for oioly hair? And the one on eBay, is it 2%? I'm assuming they're not U.S seller?
  23. But then Rogaine doesn't tackle the root of the problem while Finasteride does. So doesn't it make sense to be using Finasteride as well?
  24. Hey guys, i was just doing a Google search for Nizoral 1% Anti dandruff shampoo and it is like $30 for just 200 ml. Are they generally that expensive? Can anyone please recommend a place to buy it? Thanks all Also, i head that Nizoral with 1% ketaconazole doesn't require script while the 2% does. Is this correct?
  25. Hey guys, so i just bought the Kirkland 5% minoxidol liquid and applied it to my head and VERY gently massaged my scalp. It's like whenever i massage my scalp or even touch my hair, hair will start falling out. I'm so discouraged i don't even know what to do... At least 20 strands of hair fell out while doing this (applied minoxidol to my entire head)... I'm afraid that if i keep doing this everyday, i'm going to have no hair left Is it common in hair loss patients for hair to fall out VERY EASILY? For example, when I shower, i dont even wash my scalp because whenever i touch my scalp, hair would fall out like crazy. What i do is put my head facing downward and just wash my hair... Can anyone please tell me i'm not alone
