  1. Hey Everyone.. Month 7.. been quite the journey.. almost forgot I had a HT over these month .. I don't know if I feel like I have had an increase in density.. Maybe I have... Or you guys can be the judge .. I had a hair cut a week ago.. Once again .. No Scar Mark revealed .. and my Barber commented that my hair looks a lot thicker than it used to be .. (minox and finax magic?) .. I do like to say though, that I have been shedding hair like crazy!!! .. And i think these are the transplanted areas... You see.. I use toppik everyday (not that much..just slight sprinkle here and there) .. so at the before i go to sleep I wash my hair.. and if i apply some form of hair protein in the night .. i wake up and wash my hair again.. (shampoo and conditioner) .. I am finding that I am washing my hair twice a day .. with shampoo and conditioner .. Am i overdoing it?? Because I am finding plenty of strands on my hands and its sorta scaring me.. although i do know that these hairs are meant to shed and grow after some time.. other than this, the tiny little whispy hairs that have been growing all around are getting slightly thicker and bigger.. and thats the good bit as far as this month has been concerned.. I hope these hairs continue to grow longer and thicker.. (well the finpecia and minox are doing the work i suppose) I also noted a few pimple like bumps on my head.. but i knew they were not pimples because they were not paining or anything. .so i took a microscope and zoomed in to have a close look.. they were actually strands of hair.. curled up like a ball.. How do u get them to become straight? so i have a tiny scissors and gave them a good old clip.. (just to clip off the curled up ball bit) .. yeah guess they are growing straight now.. (well at least that is what i think) On the note of those poking hairs.. yeah.. those ones are still not shedding ... and they are still not growing .. I am absolutely clueless with these guys.. I am not pulling them out or anything .. they are just there.. not growing. .not shedding.. any bright ideas what i can do about these?? anyways guys.. happy growing!!! ..
  2. Hi htrocks Thanks for sharing your experience .. I hope your made a visit to your surgeon and had your situation examined... if you did, please share your doctors observation with me.. I don't live in India so its not exactly 1 + 1 = 2 .. when it comes to having my hair examined by my Surgeon for what I am going through at the moment..So maybe your examination with your surgeon can help me in answering some of them questions.. I have followed your progress.. And its really impressive from what it was pre-op and what it is now after almost 7 months. Great stuff man! .. Just recently.. Yesterday and Today, I have noticed my hair shedding.. well i saw about 5 - 10 strands of hair and today abt the same number of strands.. I know that this is no cause for alarm and its part of the hair cycle.. so I am pretty calm.. (or am i? ... hmmmm ).. Oh I managed to extract the trouble hair strand (the ones that are stuck, not growing and not shedding) from here-forth referred to as "poking hairs" .. I am posting a picture of a sample of the poking hair ..
  3. Hey everyone.. month 6 update.. I reviewed my month 5 photos with my month 6 photos.. especially the front photo shots.. and i see a slight improvement.. increase in thickness .. I hope that the next few month only become better .. Thanks..
  4. Hi TakingThePlunge and Bill I am nearing towards the 6th Month of my HT.. I posted a question on the following thread: http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/164724-grafts-not-shedding-needle-like-pain.html a week less than 3 months of my HT .. And today again I continue to face the same problem and almost 2 weeks away from my 6 months into my 1st HT.. I am getting a good growth and density..But I am pretty content that the grafts which have not shed as of yet .. would have only made my 6 month results more dense than it will be had they shed and started growing.. (not expecting to judge my results at this point in time though) I did on few occasions use tweezers to extract 2 or 3 of these transplanted hairs.. and when it came out it was without any follicle on the end.. it was just the strand of the hair with an "L" shape.. I am now beginning to worry whether these transplanted hair will ever shed and grow .. It was easy to detect and pinpoint these grafts before the 4th month.. but now with my hair longer.. and thicker than before.. its almost mission impossible to detect them with the naked eye unless ofcourse you have a HT Einstein look at my head of hair using the hubble telescope. However, I can feel these grafts when I run my fingers through my hair .. I have consulted with Dr. Madhu in this regards and they have advised me to wait 8 months for the hair to shed.. But its quite abnormal that these hairs have not shed.. I know that they are just stuck there.. and thats all they are doing.. stuck there.. I am wondering if the follicles beneath are even producing new hair? If they were, should they not be able to push the transplanted hairs out of the scalp? Apart from this concern there is nothing more to report on, other than the fact that at certain times in the shower I am now starting to find a couple of strands of hair on hands while shampooing .. which I know is normal.. So I am embracing this with a brave face but with a slight uncertainty regarding my prioritized issue at this point in time.. I think roughly from the feeling of these grafts based on my non-superhuman sense of touch .. there must be at least 20 - 50 grafts behaving this way.. possibly So help me guys .. cheers..
  5. Thanks TakingThePlunge ... Appreciate your words of encouragement and thanks for the tip on the minoxidil. AllAboutHair At this stage, I am very content with Dr. Madhus results with at least another 7 months to go for the results to materialize. You should consider all aspects of the HT although, you might want to ask the doctor in regards to his involvement in the entire HT procedure. In my case, Dr. Madhu carried out my donor extraction and closure. He also did some touch up on the front hair line.. With Dr. Radha Rani however, I think she is personally more involved (not sure if entirely) in the HT procedure. Dr. Radha is also recommended on this forum, she also charges the same amount as Dr. Madhu and she has yielded some great results as well. Not that I am putting Dr. Radha over Dr. Madhu, just a food for thought. With her recommendation I would be certainly compelled to think twice of my next surgeon should I wish to undertake my 2nd HT in India.. It goes without saying that Dr. Madhu's work is consistently good, You have my word, besides my recent experience is completely documented in this thread along with the pictures for the benefit of other potential HT patients. All the best ..
  6. Hi hairberry I apply tugain and let it settle in .. i.e. dry off .. There after i comb my hair according to the way i want it .. and I sprinkle the toppik just on top of my hair .. While I have heard that applying dermmatch requires our hair to be washed out properly before bed, there is no such thorough evidence as to why we cannot leave the toppik on for 2 - 3 days.. BUT having said that .. I apply minox twice a day at times.. So that means.. I need to wash out the toppik before i can put out the minox .. The idea of applying toppik for added thickness is a compelling one, but the future outlook would be to get added thickness from hair itself (i.e. a 2nd or 3rd HT) .. because I do not like the idea of having cosmetic products on my hair all the time which can by the way be easily exposed to people with an eye for detail ... Happy growing
  7. Hey everyone.. Well the month just breezed by.. nothing too much to talk about.. just more or less my photograph updates.. I have been in touch with Dr. Madhu in regards to any questions or queries.. but nothing out of the ordinary .. I did however find a road bump when I asked their team how many grafts have i left incase i wanted to do a 2nd HT.. for which they replied I will have to make a visit to the clinic.. I have been continually using Minox 5% and Finepecia (1mg) daily.. with the Minox though.. I have started alternating.. like one day i will apply it once during a day .. and the 2nd day I would apply it twice .. and a couple of days I did forget to apply it .. but not real damage done.. However today I found few hairs on my hands but they were not the implanted ones.. few strands from crown.. but I guess its the natural hair shedding process (thats what i would be assuming at this point in time) .. other than this..I had a haircut 2 weeks back and i told my barber to make sure not to cut so small at the back especially because it would reveal scars.. and well he did notice a small linear scar on the right side.. but other than that.. he kept on querying me whether i did get a scar on the back as well.. i had something like a #3 with plenty of scissors trimming on the back of my head and to my surprise.. there was not scar.. after the final product.. I use toppik and I have stopped using dermmatch.. and the result is FANTASTIC .. anyways.. Cheers to the rest of you Just one question though, I am using tugain 5% minoxidil solution .. I have only one bottle left .. If i switch to roggaine will it cause me to have shockloss?? Thanks..
  8. Hi Everyone.. Scar at the back ... what scar?? I still have few concerns regarding some of the grafts that have not shed that were implanted. http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/164724-grafts-not-shedding-needle-like-pain.html ^ My post regarding this matter These grafts are not growing at all.. For whatever reason they seem to have anchored themselves to my scalp.. (not tightly though) .. I managed to pluck out a couple of these grafts.. they had absolutely no signs of any hair roots .. and they just slid out instead of me having to pull it out with mild force.. I did not however continue to do this for the other grafts, realizing its only my 4th month of HT and the shedding may take place naturally in the next few months.. Because this anomaly is occurring on the right side of my scalp, there is less visible growth on the right section of my front hair line.. Apart from this I am continually monitoring my growth under a hand microscope (not under the sun for obvious reasons) and I see plenty of hair (other than the HT hairs) growing from my scalp.. However this is not quite obviously visible as of yet .. I am continually consuming finpecia 1mg (finasteride) and applying 5% minox (twice daily) .. anyways, Find my pictures attached (taken after shower).. Thanks ... and for everyone out there! .. All the best growing !!!
  9. looks good man! .. the scar appears very fine as well.. all the best with your results.. will be following ur updates with keen interest!.. ohh.. do u hv her email address? cud u pm it to me?? Thanks.
  10. htrocks Heyy.. I just went through your website.. Your HT Looks Splendid! .. No, I do not have a website as of yet .. However I will do this sometime soon .. Anyways.. All the best with your monthly growth phases..! ..
  11. Hello Everyone.. 3rd Month Update.. I guess I am just about on time with my growth phase and all.. Almost all of the grafts on the left side of my scalp have fallen off.. few grafts still remain on the right side of my scalp.. I am noticing lots of growth (under the microscope) .. and also the familiar noticeable growth .. Scar is near invisible now.. Can't wait for the next few months to fly by! .. Still on Finasteride (finpecia) 1mg daily .. also 5% minoxidil twice daily ..
  12. Thanks everybody!.. Much Appreciated.. I also had an email from my doctor.. and He said the same.. Thanks once again..
  13. Hi all I am the following patient -> http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/163653-hair-transplant-dr-madhu.html Anyways I am a week away from 3 months into my hair transplant phase.. everything is right on track.. But there is a hurdle I have come across.. On the right hand side my scalp just above the hair line and and just slightly above the temple.. I have some grafts which have not shed as of yet.. and not only that.. they are not growing.. the other grafts shed on time.. and are growing and with the help of finasteride and minox 5% I am seeing positive growth of my native hair.. also .. when i am gently massaging these areas (where the transplants have not shed) sometimes i feel like there is a needle pricking my scalp... Is there anything I can do in this regards?.. i Just emailed my doctor.. so it will take some time for them to come back in this regard.. Thanks..

  15. Hows it going simplycomplicated? Happy new year buddy! .. How are things growing?? .. looking forward to your updates amigo! ..
  16. grwelshy well there are taxis available outside the airport and they can help you get to your destination .. albeit I think you should consult Dr. Madhu's team on this matter.. maybe they could provide you with a pickup car or something .. the hotel (best western jubilee ridge) is really just a 3 - 5 minutes walk from the hair transplant center.. Hope this helps buddy!.. All the best! .. keep us posted as well!
  17. Well its been quite a journey! .. I am into the Ugly Duckling phase.. and i gotta admit.. It JUST Ain't pretty! But its bearable keeping in mind the bigger picture .. Anyways .. after returning to my country after my hair transplant i.e. a week after my HT .. I buzzed my hair with a 0 clip .. (hope i am phrasing this correctly) .. and two weeks following that trimming session I again buzzed my hair with a 0 clip.. Its been a month since I have clipped my hair .. But I guess I would be allowing my hair to grow now.. Anyways .. the better news is that .. I had my hair fall (i.e. implanted grafts).. although not everyone decided to fall off.. some are pretty intact.. and its almost like they are jammed.. but they are growing .. The transplanted hair have also started to reappear but slowly and steadily and they are definitely very thin at this stage.. I am also having additional growth in my non-implanted regions beneath the hair line on the sides of the temples due to the added use of Finpecia (Finasteride 1mg) and Minoxidil 5% solution .. the appearance right now is very whispy white.. so as things transpire to become better i will continue to post pics .. The scar area still has some shock loss.. so its kind of visible .. the scar line however is very fine.. and after my hair grows fully it should be well and truly hidden. Well.. I am looking forward to the next few months of growth as my hair thickens and gets a more full look .. .. Thats it from me for now.. Sorry about the quality of the pics! .. I took it from my smartphone! My cam has gone missing for some time now! .. Ciao!...
  18. is there no medical certified profession who can share their view on this matter? .. It would be great to know of a concrete response.. although varied.. there should be at least some indications ...
  19. Hey simplycomplicated What about the native hairs on the recipient site? are they still there? or have they suffered as a consequence of shock loss? and if they are still there.. have they improved due to the intake of the Finax 1mg and application of 5% minox.. ?
  20. Hey... I live in the South Pacific region.. so I am miles away from India.. Do not worry about accommodation .. you can speak to Dr. Madhu and his team about accommodation.. they will recommend you to one of the hotels that is just 3 - 5 minutes walk away .. you can find this on Dr. Madhus website under complimentary accommodation Dr.Madhu:::Hair Transplant Surgeon, India- Hyderabad::: for best Quality & Results::: to educate about advise for Hairloss Hope this helps..
  21. Hey man... your nearly 2 weeks away from the 4th month.. how has the recent journey been so far? Hope its all going well.. if its not .. dont worry.. Rome was not built in one day ..
  22. yes.. khali.. they dont work on the frontal zone.. but there is also a hypothesis i read couple of days back... that most of the testing of these drugs have been carried out on the crown area.. but thats another topic completely.. well i think whether you would want to maintain the native hair is a personal preference.. but when we undergo transplants.. alot of patients want a full density.. which is not quite possible with the limitations of the donor area.. and the surgery itself.. thanks .. i guess dr. madhu has been consistent with his hairline designs with many of his patients hope this helps man..
  23. hmmmm... i think as most people would agree.. the hair on the back of our head and sides are genetically resistant to male pattern balding.. this is not to say they eventually fall.. but this would happen at a very later stage .. maybe after 50s.. so to maintain the native hair on the top of my head (the non transplanted area).. yes i would require use of medicines.. but not to maintain the transplanted areas.. but i think consuming the medicines will also adversely improve the health of hair.. well atleast thats what the dermatologist said.. we all have a price to pay if we want to maintain our hair ...
  24. brianwhitskey24 Dr. Madhu and team have advised me to use finasteride and minoxidil 5% to maintain and possibly preserve the existing hair.. so to sum it up i guess if you want to atleast make a genuine attempt at saving your native hair.. you have to take these drugs.. Khali... Thanks.. i have not been able to snap a picture of my scar.. it feels like a fine scar .. and now since its exactly ten days i will try to get my hair on the sides and at the back clipped thus i will be able to take pictures from the back of my head and I will post them in this thread.. On another note, I would also like to say at this stage is that Dr. Madhu did point out that it was only for my minor usage of medication i.e. (i used to use roggaine before 2011).. i had managed to save a decent amount of hair on my head.. if it werent for meds i would probably be an advanced norwood level 5..
  25. Hi everyone.. It was thee day when I finally go through my hair transplant.. I was required to arrive at the clinic around 6am. I submitted my blood reports to one of the female doctors and she gave me various injections and took my blood pressure. Following this, she took my pre-operative pictures i.e. before hair transplant pictures. After this, I was guided back to the waiting room. I was then given the surgical attire which I put on as I waited anxiously for the next agenda. I was then escorted to Dr. Madhu who again drew my hair line and briefed me regarding the process. After this I was taken to I guess their dissection room, they lay me down head facing downwards and my head was injected with anaesthesia to reduce the severity of the pain. It took some time before Dr. Madhu extracted a strip from the back of my head. Then he stitched the back of my head with the three layered trichophytic closure method. I was handed over to the nurses and they worked on me with Dr. Madhu visiting occasionally to follow up on the progress. Initial estimations were that I would get a maximum of 2700 grafts but they managed to extract in total 3245 grafts. Upon completion I was taken to a rest room where I was changed into my shirt and cleaned up again and asked to consume some medications that were provided along with snacks and orange juice. Dr. Madhu again visited and examined the final transplantation result. He stated that the procedure has had gone well and wished me before he left to attend to other patients. Dr. Vijayta then took some time out briefing me on the medications I will need to take for the next few days. I also took time out to query her regarding side effects of using Roggaine and Propecia. She mentioned that Roggaine had little or no side effects on any of their patients and that Propecia when taken in moderation should not cause any side effects either. Prior to Dr. Vijayta’s briefing I was required to pay the balance of the total bill. After this, I was provided a medical cap, which was put on to my head to mask the transplant and my cousin who had accompanied me was directed to guide me carefully back to the hotel and was instructed to take complete rest for the day. She also mentioned that I was required to return the next day for a hair wash. She provided me with a filed document indicating the usage of the consumption of the post-operative pills and post-operative instructions for hair transplantation. As far as recommending Dr. Madhu.. I guess you are completely in safe hands.. but this is my first HT so I do not have a scale to measure their services.. but nonetheless the entire team is awesome! Well this is it from me now.. Posting my pictures as well.. Thanks everyone and please let me know what you guys think about my transplant.. Thanks. P.S. Please note that i have had some swelling during the procedure which i was informed will subside in the next couple of days or so..
