  1. I'm no expert but the hair that was transplanted is healthy hair from the donor site so I don't think that would be affected but the native hair, if any that was left at your crown will more than likely shed after 3 to 4 months but then healthy hair will start to grow a new cycle.
  2. The clinic I had my surgery at offered seven free laser treatments with the surgery which I had on December 15 of 2010. Yesterday was my fourth laser treatment and no it has done nothing to prevent shock loss. I wish I would have done a little more research before having the surgery which went all right but when I asked the assitant who was helping the doctor about shock loss I was told," That rarely happens to men and if it does it's very minimal, women usually have that problem." After reading hundreds of posts on here I would say it seems to be about a third to 50% of guys have shock loss after their HT. Worst case scenario I have heard was of shock loss continuing 6 months down the road so I did have the doc right me up a script for Proscar yesterday.
  3. It has been just over two months for me and I am starting to have the same concerns. I have some tiny growth by my sides and temples which were receded bad, but where I had hair in the front I am getting bad shock loss and shedding. This is where I am concerned about the most and especially the possibility of permanent shock loss. As far as this goes I have heard doctors on here say this is very unlikely but it is hard to follow up and get statistics because many people that think they have this issue do not always follow up with posts later on down the road. I know this factors into a lot of variables such as type of surgery, doctor, and a person's general health but can anyone provide some kind of statistics even if it is just from members on this board as to shock loss and when regrowth in all areas has started? I have heard everything from 3 months to 8 months or possibly never if it was a bothced job.

  5. It looks pretty good to me. Today is my two month mark since my HT and I am also experiencing extensive shedding due to shock loss. I was not told to go on Rogaine or Propecia and am a little worried because I have read posts that talk about shock loss continuing for 6 to 8 months past the surgery. I was also told by the woman who assisted the doc with my surgery that shock loss mostly only happens to women which after reading many posts on this topic it seems like it happens to half or closer to the majority of individuals who have HT regardless of gender. I'm not sure what to do because hair also sheds the first couple of months with rogaine, while propecia will not grow any hair back in the front it may keep me from lossing any more there from shock loss.
  6. Hi everyone I'm new here and this is my first post. I have been wearing a hair system since I was 27, I'm now 29. I was relatively happy with it since I still had my own hair in the front and the system was attached right behind it. Last July the stylist ripped a lot of my hair out, it stated to grow back the end of September beggining of October. I have the system fully bonded and the chemical they use to get the adhesive out of your hair is a product called easy off. During the time in between I had appointments with a different stylist because i would not go back to the woman who ripped my hair out. The new stylist ended up quiting because she was in an accident so my next appointment would be with a different person. Having anxiety the night before my app. ( October 18) at the thought of another incompetent person damaging my hair I decided to use the easy off and get the system off myself which resulted in a lot of hair loss to the hair in front. From this point on I only use the tape because it doesn't damage the hair in front of the system. Then I started to worry about traction alopecia because this now happened twice and very close together. My own hair in the front was very thin and I had to use sure thick ( a thickening powder) to cover it up. I was told that my hair would grow back in 3 to 4 months but fearing that it might not I had an HT on December 15 of 650 grafts to reinforce the hair in the front and put the hair back at my temples. I was told that shock loss typically only happens to women and is very unlikely to happen to me. After reading many posts on here and similar forums this seems like bull. It has been two months today since the HT ( and close to 4 motnhs since it was last ripped out) and my own hair in the front is sparse and translosent, the sure thick doesn' even really work, you can see directly through and the hair system and it is very obvious now. I haven't gotten to much info on permanent shock loss any advice is welcomed and needed, thanks guys.
