  1. Orlhair-I notice the doc put some grafts in each temple corner ("bluning" the corners as some call it). Do ou know how many grafts went into each corner? Also, how many grafts per sq cm will you have in the front third between this and your first surgery?

    Happy growing!!

I didn't get the count in the temple corners, but we talked about that being one of my goals for this surgery. About 300 of the grafts were placed in the middle area where I had no work before. That was mainly for some insurance as it was not particularly thin, but had a few spaces for some grafts just to thicken a little. In the first surgery, about 2000 grafts were in the front third and about 1000 went in the crown. So, I will have about 3200 total in the front third. I don't recall the per sq. cm. count.

  2. Orlhair, looks like you will get an awesome result. I am amazed at what a broad area SMG used for your donor hairs. Will you be posting some of your own photos. You really do a great job at communicating your experience in posting your thoughts and great photos. Best of luck healing up. Tom

Thanks Tom. I will post update photos. I will start with one week post op just to show how fast this is healing up. I am excited about he potential that these additional grafts will have. I think it will look even fuller and thicker than before.

  3. It is a matter of personal choice. They both have excellent reputations. Advice about two surgeons with great reputations is helpful, but just consult with both and decide who you are most comfortable with. I don't think there is a "winner" between them for the questions you asked. You can't make a bad choice when you narrow your choices to top clinics. Good luck with your decision!

  4. I think you are going to have an awesome result. Looks great! You are right on track and if you are already getting some growth, that is a plus since 2 months is early. I started to get growth from my first procedure at about 2.5 months. Typical time for new growth can be 3-4 months.

  5. wow, thats a great scar, 3 guard is very short as well, looks so natural on top , even with the very short cut , with no layering effect going on it looks very natural and you have good coverage, this latest procedure is icing on the cake for you my friend, good growth to ya,

Thanks man......I am pretty excited about how it will turn out.

  6. Thanks for posting Janna. Keeping everything on this thread makes sense. I will use it for all of my updates. I made it home fine before the frigid weather set in! Doing well. Hair is already starting to grow back from the military shave :) Thanks again to you and everyone at SMG.....I couldn't be happier.

  7. all this site is, is essentially an interest group pointing you in one direction, you pay the doctor who therfore pays THIS site for advertising purposes

The vast majority of posts on this site are just patients reporting their experiences. I agree that you should research many sources for a long time before deciding how to proceed. Personally, I think this is one of the very best sites out there. Patients like myself get nothing out of posting here other than to try and provide information that others will find helpful in deciding what they want to do for themselves.

  8. Sounds like you had a great experience with SMG again. 1500 grafts is decent size for FUE. I am curious to hear about any downtime, or "ugly ducking" stage you will encounter if any and some pictures. Wish you the best of luck.

Thanks for the good wishes! We will get some photos up soon. I have a full military buzz shaved cut. You can see my strip scar but it turned out really good. I think it will look pretty good within a week. My hair grows fast. I expect it will look fine in 2 weeks. SMG took some pics at various lengths before I was shaved. I regularly get my sides and back cut to a 3 guard and you can't see the scar at all. Cut to a 2 guard, you could see it if you looked for it, but the average person would not. I will take pics weekly for 3 or 4 weeks and update periodically after that.

Thanks again Aaron and StaggerLee for the good wishes!!

  9. Congrat's Orlhair1,

From what i here from Matt Zupan, you are one of the first to have the new addition(ARTAS). I'm scheduled for Feb 4th-5th. Please tell me your experience as far as the seamlessness of the ARTAS compared to the regular FUE punch method. Did they say anything about the quality of graft from the ARTAS,good, bad etc? I wish you the best of luck with only great growth ahead. This is my second go round with SMG as well. I had FUE this time last year.

Thanks very much! ARTAS had very high quality grafts for me based on what I was told. It was very easy. The chair is a little awkward at first, but once my valium kicked in I slept through part of it. I had a lot of people in the room. Besides the SMG team, there were a couple people from Restoration Robotics there as well. I was impressed by the process. The second day with the regular punch was easy as well. The donor from both looks great. Overnight my donor from ARTAS had already started to heal. I really had no significant discomfort. I took the pain meds as a precaution before I went to bed even though I did not think I needed them, but did not take any this morning. The entire SMG team was fantastic as well. I am pretty excited about the work I had done. I think you will be very happy with the experience. A lot of photos were taken, and I will work with Janna to get them posted. I go back in the AM for a wash and then fly home. Best of luck with your next one. If you have any questions just shoot me a private message and I will be glad to answer them or speak by phone.
