  1. THE DEED IS DONE! I am so elated right now, I can barely describe it! I was so nervous going into surgery, but I ended up having so much fun with Dr. Shapiro and his EXCELLENT staff, it was a breeze!!!! Oh yeah, and the sweetest bonus... we were shooting for 2000 to 2500 and ended up with 3100+!!!!!!! Plus, Pat stopped by to check out the procedure, so I got to meet him as well. On Sat. I went back for my checkup and wash, and lo and behold, several of the worlds finest HT doc's were there to observe Dr. Shapiro in action. Needless to say I got to rub some elbows, and I let the doc's examine my now non bald dome icon_biggrin.gif

Anyway back to the surgery.... the doc had decided to go conservative for the 1st one and then really attack my hairline on the 2nd one. Imagine my surprise when the technicians started going ga-ga over my doner density!!!!! When the doc asked where they were at they said 2800 and counting!!!!!!! Holy Sh@t!!! I had long given up hope that my crown would ever be touched, but now it looks as if I might get into 45fu sqcm in the front (after HT #2), and have some left over for the crown!!! Guys, I have been shaving my head for five years now and did not realize that I had lost most of my lateral humps. I was a NW6, but all of that's changed now baby!!!!!!!!! By the way, I would like to thank Pat for taking the time to stop and talk while I was in the chair. I really apprieciated someone with the knowledge he has, taking a look at my procedure and expressing his extreme approval over donor closure and graft placement. Thanks again Pat. PS. I know I hate when new people push a doctor, but at least try to have a consult with Shapiro. He gives you the straight shit, without the hot air. Cheers Mates!!!!

  2. Thanks Smoothy icon_biggrin.gif

I originally was set for Sept 13th, but when I arrived, I ended up talking to Dr. Shapiro for three hours about how to approach my hairloss. We eventually decided to go with 2000 or more the first time, and then another 2000 or more for the second one. So, the Dr. graciously made room on Oct. 7th for my first procedure. I would like to say that Dr. Shapiro is a human being first, and a doctor second. After meeting him in person, his reputation for being truly caring and understanding was certainly no lie. I was amazed that after doing thousands of HT's he was genuinely excited to perform mine, and enthusiastically prescribed a treatment program.

I am more sure of this than I have ever been in my life. I will update after I get back. Cheers!

  3. I feel you Gorpy. You know I am going this the 13th and I am a bit nervous myself. I have never had any type of surgery and while I am confident in Dr. Shapiro, a little trepidation does exist. You will be fine. I have yet to read any negative posts regarding Dr. Keene. Happy Growing!!!

  4. Yes I would tend to agree with Spoon here. I am twenty-nine and just going for my HT with Shapiro after three years of research and waiting. 1200 is not that large a session if you see some of the work posted on this forum. Also, as far as price goes, 1200 for 5000k is not a great deal in my estimation. If you were doing say 2000 for 7k, bringing your cost to 3.50 a fu, that would be along the lines of a good price. I would check around a little more if I were you and change my date to allow for it. Of course this is just an opinion, but I get the idea that you would like more done at this time.

  5. OK Gents! I finally took the plunge and set up surgery date (mid-Sept) with Dr. Shapiro. I will be posting my pre-op photos along with during surgery photos as well. I have stood in the shadows watching this community grow and evolve without too much interaction. Through this I have come to the conclusion that money and fear of the actual surgery is what holds most of us back. It is my hope that my experiences will help make the decision easier for all, regardless of age or finances. I am scheduled for 3000 FUT procedure and I cannot wait. So, without further eloquence, I will post my pre-ops soon and follow with others. Cheers!!!!

  7. Just received my Finpecia (1mg Finasteride)!!!

I must confess i'm very pleased with the packing and the overall look of the medicine. Each packet of pills are blister packed and stamped for expiration. The pills came 8 days after I ordered them online, came with a receipt, and a 1-800 customer service number(if I have any problems). I don't know if this will work for everyone, but everything seems to be working out fine. I post a follow-up if any reactions occur

  8. Many small scars exist on his head. I'm not completely sold on the idea that as you age, these do not show. It does seem that the donor sites are fairly high on the sides and back of your head, and over time may become more difficult to hide. A properly placed strip however should not be visible with the appropriate hair length. As with any new procedures it has good AND bad. At least we know up front with strip what we are in for(with a good doctor, of course.

    Just my opinion
