  1. Cardel,

While I'm very sorry to hear this, I'm glad that you had this heart problem evaluated by a specialist and decided to stop any medication that could (potentially) worsen the problem. I assume the physician told you to stop the minoxidil?

In the end, your heart health is absolutely crucial and I think you're acting responsibly here.

Furthermore, are you taking any other trusted preventive medications like finasteride or a ketoconazole-based shampoo? While you are likely to experience a shed on minoxidil (as you will lose the hair you regained with the medication), other proven therapies, if you are not using them already, could still definitely help (make sure you're checking these with your doctor first as well).

Again, sorry to hear this. Stay healthy!

My doctor doesn't have the best memory. He had forgotten that i used topical minoxidil.

But i made the choice and informed him about it. And he didnt advice me not to stop minoxidil :)

I am using Nizoral and Finasterid so I hope that my hairloss will only amount to a small number of hairs. So far I haven't lost many more hairs than usual. Im hoping that it stays like that for some time :)

  2. Well as the header says i have to stop using topical minoxidil. I have recently discovered that i have a minor heart problem. I don't think that the problem was caused alone by minoxidil but i want to do everything that I can in order to prevent the problem from worsening. I know that oral minoxidil have some serious heart related side effects. And it commonly raises your heart rate with 15-20 beats a minute.

I wanted to hear from others who stopped using minoxidil if they felt like they lost a lot of hair ? I read some theories that not only the hairs you gained by using minoxidil will be lost but also the surrounding hairs - because they get used to and dependent on minoxidil. Im not sure about the validity of these theories. So I wanted to hear from some of you.

  3. Hi .. cardel .. wow! the hair transplant makes one side your profile at norwood 1 and the other looks at norwood nothing! congrats man.. such a small change and you look so much younger as well.

Btw... I am about 14 days out of my HT with Dr. Radha. The scabs are still there .... I do beileve there is some shock loss on the thickness of my left side... and obviously my crown is still bald as I had too much to cover.

But the hair in front is growing especially at my temples and the hair has not fallen out yet.

I am keeping my fingers crossed. even with the scabs on my head.... makes my head look like it has hair and makes me look my age rather than 10 years older than my age.

I am not taking finasteride or minox though.. Im scared I wont see good growth like you or the other guys if i dont do so.. although im having a great diet. The scar is not healed yet,... it loosk rather neat to me but Radha did mention that because my scalp is too elastic more than she expected... its possible my scar would stretch slightly more than other people she has worked on.

    Please give me some advice....

@rod - Hello there. I hope you are doing well! How is your progress going on . Any new hair growth ?

Thanks for your comments on my look. I do feel that i look much younger and healthier. I have started exercising a lot after my HT because I have felt so good about myself. Something i didn't prior to my HT. So it has really been a life changing event for me.

I would say that finasterid and minox helped me a great deal. And without adding those two to my regimen i wouldn't have much hair on my head now. Probadly around the hair I've gained from Dr. Radha?s HT. But it isn't the right decision for everyone. The best thing would be if you can upload some pictures and ask people on this forum to give you a piece of advice. I would be more than willing to give you my best advice.

  4. This is my piece of advice. If you really want to have some hair on your head you need to start on finasterid. You are heading for an advanced NW patterns. Your new uploaded pictures shows a decrease in your excisting hair. So i don't think that HT + minoxidil will give you a full head of hair. If you're ok with not having a full head of hair and you don't want to take finasterid that fine. The reason why i am writing this is so you will not be disappointed.

  5. Hi all. This is obviously a bragging tread :) I have taken the time too write this so people can see that some lucky guys can restore there hair even though they have lost a great deal. When I first posted my pictures on this website I was told to give up restoring my hair. I don't think that it was a bad advice. But i do think that things are not black or white so therefore advice should be given in a manner that excludes opportunities. Taking meds and getting a hair transplant is not for all. And i don't think that its the right decision for everybody. But some people like me loses to much of their self-estem/life quality when they lose their hair. I am very happy that i started taking meds and got a hair transplant. But i know that perhaps this is going to chance in the future. I can definitely recommend not doing anything to sudden when you lose your hair. Try and see if time changes how you feel and think.

I started meds dec 2010 which gave me a lot of hair back. You can see the rest of my regimen in my signature. You can see catchy how much i gained from meds if you view my profile. I have posted before and after meds pictures.

I got my hair transplant in august 2011. The doctor whom perfumed my hair transplant was Dr. Radha Rani. She is recommended on this forum. I can't recommend her highly enough. She is indeed a world-class surgeon and a wonderful person.

  6. Great results, you can get such a results becoz

    1) you had excellent doctor

    2) you already had good amount of hair covering most of your scalp, you had HT only around temples. So your results are obvious.

Meanwhile, I am planning for HT with Dr. Radha, I will soon join party with you.. Happy growing.

Thank you for your kind words. You have made an excellent choice in choosing Dr. Radha as your surgeon for your HT. Would you be so kind to give her my greetings ? I am looking forward to see your results.

  7. You look amazing Cardel25. You hair is breathtaking. I swear if I knew about Dr. Radha from the start, she would have been my HT surgeon, its only 3 hrs away from here. There are many great hidden surgeons in Asia. BTW I noticed you are on fin M-W-F since day 1, have it affected your libido so far?

Thx for your comments on my hair it really means a great deal. I know that you have much knowledge about hair restoration. You are definitely one of the most respected members on this forum so i really appreciate your kind words. Im also happy that you acknowledge Radha?s great work she deserves all the praise she can get.

Regarding Finasterid it did effect my libido at first when i started - i used it everyday. But when i then changed to only using it 3 x a week the side effects subsided. So now it doesnt effect my libido at all.

  8. Keep us updated Cardel25, I think you are the best result of Dr. Radha. I suggest you to be her model in the website haha. Seriously cardel25, your hair looks great, you even inspired RodG to do his 2nd HT with her.

Thank you for your post. I do think that i am one of the better results of Dr. Radha mainly because some of the patients pictures she have posted her and on her website is taken only a few months post op. I hope to many with similar results like mine when they document their progress until one year post op.

I am thankful that i could inspire others to undergo a procedure by Radha. Im sure that they will benefit from it.

Once again thanks for your post. It was nice to read.

  9. Hi cardel25

Thanks for all the wonderful updates. I would just like to ask you about the use of minoxidil. Do everyone who has had a transplant required to use minoxidil or other medications to maintain the result of the HT?

Could i also ask you when you started to go back to work again after the operation?

    Thanks :)

Well Its definately a good thing. But because it doesn't work for everybody i would wait to begin with minox until i was able to see if it works. If you start on it right after a HT you wouldn't know whether it was the HT or minox that is causing an effect. Finasterid is a more powerful product But it also have more sideeffects. So whether one should take it is individually. Most HT docs recommend it thought.

  10. I can say that i started slacking with my daily use of minoxidil. Because i sometimes get a few sides from using it. But after 10-20 days i started losing hair rapidly so i am back on it and I will stick to it as long as I want hair on my head - unless some magic intervention is invented.

So I have probably lost some hair so perhaps my results now would have been even better if I haven't tried quitting minox. But as I stated before I have about the same mount of hair as I had at the 6-7 month stage so it isn't that bad.
